Nice job troy, I'll be ordering once I get to Ohio next month
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible day. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks Troypoint Great Review Nice Router.
Hey Troy and thanks for an awesome tutorial. I will be connecting the router to my ISP fiber modem. Does it make a difference if the modem is in bridge mode or not? What would be best?
Is there anoth WRT model with USB ports? It would be perfect with at least one USB port... Thank you!
I have a netgear nighthawk axe500 router, I am trying to find a vpn that works with this router, what do you suggest?
Troypoint! looks very good! my question is about my job, they don't allow me to use VPN while I'm working. So, part of my family sometimes they streaming from Hulu, Netflix etc. There is a way to config. that? actually I'm using SmartDNS proxy.
I've been having network problems with my ps5 with this router any video how to fix it?
Receiveed my pcwrt, and set it up like you showed in the video. I set up a network strictly for my android streaming devices. Now I need to set up spit tunneling, as I not only subscibe to an IPTV service, I also subscribe to Peacock, which does not allow the service to go through a VPN. In the settings for spit tunneling on the pcwrt, it only allows to set it up by domain name or IP address. how to I go about listing apps, like Peacock, Discovery+ and others? Thanks for your help
Hello, I personally created two wireless networks, one that was protected and one that wasn't just like I show in the video. They do provide a way for entering ip addresses or website addresses for split tunneling and I would suggest that you take a look in their forum for how to do this. The reason I don't do it is because many sites have multiple domains and ip addresses under the surface so you can't simply input peacock.com and expect it to work. You must know the other domains that they are using to deliver the video.
Does the router have a place to hook fiber optic wire
No it does not. This sounds like what you would expect to see on an actual modem and not a router. You should have a LAN port available on your modem and then connect that to Internet port or WAN port on router.
I can't get there
I have google mesh wifi and it goes from 400 plus to about 45 to 50 when I turn on my ipvanish? Do I need to upgrade my mesh wifi or move to a new VPN? And is there a way to put a vpn on my goggle mesh like u doing in this video?
Hello, as I mention in the video, the biggest problem is that you can't install IPVanish WireGuard on a router. You are probably using OpenVPN which is extremely slow on routers. Surfshark offers manual config options for WireGuard which most others services don't. Also, not sure if your router would even support WireGuard as most don't.
@troypoint Don't you have a video om how to setup ipvanish
@@jtshot9803 You can easily follow pcWRT instructions for setting up OpenVPN on this router but you will have the same results as you are getting now...slow speeds. I can't do a video for IPVanish WireGuard on this router because IPVanish doesn't allow for WireGuard manual connections like I mention in the video. Yes, IPVanish supports WireGuard but they don't provide the server settings that we need like I show in the video that Surfshark provides.
@troypoint thanks for all you do
Is that router Fios compatible?
Hello, I don't have Verizon Fios but I have Fiber Internet and as you can see it works perfectly fine on mine. I don't think that you need a special router on Fios. You should just be able to connect it to your Fios modem like any other router.
