I never tire of viewing this. And I'm neither an Arkansas alum nor an Arkansas native. My son is in the 2nd row of cellos. The then-new conductor Haas from New York City really knew how to win over the locals in his first concert.
@@safespacebear Yes you better believe it! The fellow from Noo Yawk City won over the Arkansan crowd immediately! The red tunic was a surprise. He changed into it quickly off stage just before curtain call and encore. I had been told ahead of time by my son that the encore was going to be fun.
I was a UofA fan from the womb. My grandson is a 5th generation Razorback on campus. This song means so much to my entire family and still gives me chills when I hear it. I go to SONA faithfully and even at 74, this got us going like no other composition!!!
My Mom works at Notre Dame so I'm a Fighting Irish fan but my Aunt works at U of A so I love the Hogs too, and Arkansas Fight always gives me thrills down my spine. WOO PIG! SOOEY!
Hit that line, Hit that line, Keep on going, Move that ball right down the field. Give a cheer, Rah! Rah! Never fear, Rah Rah Arkansas will never yield. On your toes Razorbacks to the finish. Carry on with all your might. For it's A-R-K-A-N-S-A-S for Arkansas, Fight, Fight, Fi-i-ight.
So I’m not an Arkansas fan at all, but I played in the Maroon Typhoon which is the marching band at Jones County Junior College in Ellisville, MS. Jones uses this song as their fight song. Many great memories playing Euphonium on this piece of music. That said, I absolutely love this arrangement! My wife was a mallet percussionist and she’s going to be blown away when I show her this video! Thanks for the upload!
I've seen this before but happened upon it again tonight and my 5 year old son said the woo pig sooiee song mommy! He plays violin at his school so he wants to learn to play this now.
Gives me chills...I will attend the Texas v. Arkansas game on September 11, 2021. I am a UT Austin alumnus. However, I appreciate the tradition and rivalry between Texas and Arkansas. And I love Arkansas Fight! Hook em! PS - The Trombone Sections Rules....
Xylophone player nailed it at the beginning. I wonder why more modern rips of Arkansas' fight song have them excluded. I'm glad the NCAA football games still have them though.
the Hogs are back sooner than I thought after the Petrino fiasco...Bret Bielema will have the boys primed and ready to make a splash on the national scene this coming season in 2015...it will be like the great and beautiful bird of prey, the Phoenix, rising from the ash heap back to take our rightful place among the nation's elite...its going to be a beautiful thing

Oh I didn't know that was his first time conducting them. Outstanding! That's a helluva impression to make on a first date

Behold, the most beautiful piece of music ever orchestrated.
That was beautiful. You can take the boy out of Arkansas, but you can't take the Arkansas out of the boy.
I never get tired of watching this. It is one of my favorite renditions of the fight song.

Only one tuba?!!! Damn I can hear him!
There would be helpers on his part with cellos, upright bass, and any other "bari" instrument in the mix. But the tuba itself does stand out nicely.
Best fight song in college football.
