    I'm 66 years old. I started out with 5 pushups and worked my way up to 42 without stopping with proper form. It took me 8,000 pushups to get to that level. My goal is two sets of 50 with proper form per day.

      Hi it's really inspiring, I'm also starting with sMe number, now working my way up to 40 , can you share some tips on it. I'm doing only one set per day, in order to slowly adapt rather than draining the energy, your experience could be helpful, thanks.

    • @joeflaherty4682
      @joeflaherty4682 3 года назад +28

      @@rf_wbg#1 tip go slow, but do it ever day 7 days a week. Do NOT skip days for any reason unless you're in bed with the flu. Do not allow yourself to get sore. Just a little bit otherwise you will quit. It took me 2 1/2 months to work up to 100 per day spread out over the whole day. Then I kept it at 100 per day but started shortening the time. I got to 5 sets of 20 then 4 sets of 25 then a 33,33,34 then at 20, 40, 40. Now, at present I am at 25,50, 25. Yep I can do 50 clean pushups without stopping and I will be 67 in 2 weeks. I couldn't begin to do that when I was 25 and thin as a rail. I have lost weight but I am still 20 pounds over weight. If I get the weight off I could probably do 75 without stopping. I have done 12,000 pushups over almost six months far, far more then in my entire life before. Here is something important....yes I look better without a doubt, but where it does wonders is your heart. Fantastic combination exercise that works every muscle group at once especially your heart. As to you, don't do just one set per day because you need to warm up. So if you do 20 break it down to five sets of four, but someday get eventually up to 100 at your pace. Then shorten the time. I can do 100 now in 5 minutes. That used to take all day and it took 2 1/2 months to get to 100 over the whole day!! Trust me with one thing, your heart will thank you. I feel so much better in every way. Your heart, NOT your muscles will determine what you can do. That's why go slow, but every day. It takes no equipment and can be done anywhere anytime. Let me know your progress. Good luck. Ps. My goal is one warmup set of 25 followed by a one minute rest and then a clean non-stopping set of 75 !!! Oh yea! Oh, one more thing....do NOT eat at all for three hours prior to do your sets. Even a little food makes it much harder on your heart and will reduce your performance. I also found my peak performance is when I am well rested and ate then three hours later did my sets.

    • @Nopxly
      @Nopxly 5 лет назад +5

      failure is when you "fail" at the last rep, so you can't do anymore.
      to train "short" of failure is to train a few reps before reaching failure.
      eg:
      failure = 25 reps
      train to = 22 reps

      I comprehend this Classical point of view on economies and globalization however the generally accepted fact is somewhat basic at its center: "Globalization" isn't something that anybody controls as we can't pick regardless of whether we live on a similar planet. We as people need to cooperate to make better circumstances on this planet for us all, regardless of whether we like it. You can't get away from this dynamic, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my 100k brokerage portfolio, curious on the most productive means to take advantage of the current situation...I am open to ideas

      Strategising might be quite rigorous for the regular. As a matter of fact, they are mostly successfully carried out by experts who have a great deal of skillset managing a financial portfolio, I’ve been on both end of the spectrum investing on my own for about years, did my own study and analysis before actually buying, things became rather difficult not until a colleague introduced me to my current financial analyst. She has helped me convert my 150k portfolio into 500k

    I started this program at the beginning of the year and today I have reached the 50 total reps in one set, with a decent form. Now I would like to do it with a perfect one. I also noticed that resting on one straight arm and shaking off the other one and vice versa allows doing a few more reps without cheating. Drinking coffee and opening the window also helps.

    • @Marco-sm9bu

      @barneystinson8840 4 года назад +3

      @@Marco-sm9bu year before about 28 while doing other push up workout, but just before doing this program I could probably do 10-15. I followed this program above patiently doing about 3 workouts per week to (sometimes two because laziness) to the point I was fully rested. I adjusted the number of reps in one set to match the total 70 reps. I probably started with 7X10 with always two minute rest. Then 6x11+4 etc. This way I could do about 1-2 more max pushups per set per week. When I reached the 20 reps in a row in a set i followed the routine suggested in the tables in the video. I also always tried to do a full range of motion without cheating. Sometimes I couldn't do as much reps in one set as it was required so I stopped for a while then continued. After doing 35-40 in a row things are starting to get harder and progress became a little bit slower. Don't forget to take your proteins and being patient. Also chest can grow a bit from totally flat to a less flat. The coffee gives a more energy and opening the window allows more air to breathe since I coudn't say I can breathe freely while doing pushups. I also didn't expect instant results. If you want to know more, ask.

    I used to care about big rep numbers in one set, then realized it was pointless anyway so now I'm just doing modified versions (also with weights added) in order to keep the reps as low as i can (ideally 10-12). A total of 130-150 push-ups done at high load in low rep sets has worked wonders so far in overall muscle development and strength. Endurance will go up slowly as well. At the moment i can do about 60 regular strict form in a row, but i just did that benchmark as a curiosity quite recently.

      Boost Freaks Nice! How often do you train pushups? Also do you train pullups as well?

    • @BoostFreaks
      @BoostFreaks 6 лет назад +1

      Pushups, once per week (modified to simulate either heavy or light loads). I usually end one push up session with either triceps or biceps sets to tire out the arms completely. After that, upper body is toast for 2-3 days and i have to focus on other exercises. I also do train pull-ups, yes, but not as often since i don't have a pull-up bar at home. But there are many other exercises to do for back/lats in between when i get to do pull up sessions.

      No. Or if you do make sure it lower body when you do pushuos it uses many of your upper body muscles and if you say do biceps the next day or chest or triceps or even abs youll be reusong muscles that are still recovering. You can do this howver if you want mass as well as endurnce id say no. If you dont care about mass and only want to build strengrh and endurnce than do a light workout in between and try to avoid any muscle group that is sore at all. If you stretch and feel a twinge you need more recovery time.
