If you put sides on the perimeter of your sliding shelf it would stiffen it, make it slide easier.

Great job sir. Will be building a smaller version of this as a bike slide out platform.

I have looking for the longest time for some garage door rails that I could attach to a timber, use the wheels spaced however and make a roll out bed. Darn rails are expensive and can't find any scrap or used.

I really wish truck manufacturers would offer a full 4 door cab with an 8' bed that isn't an F350 for close to $100,000.

you will in the future have to put thin sheet metal on the bottom because it will eventually wear thru your plywood...do that and it will last forever

Nice! How did you attach it to the bed?

How wide is the bed of your truck? I have a chevy 2500 and the bed is 53inchs wide. I'm worried with just one sheet of plywood there will be to much side to side movement.

Hi Carl. After inlaying the plywood into the side rails, my overall width is 50.5 inches, leaving about an inch one either side inside the wheel wells. I've never noticed any side shifting or movement, but if you do, it would be fairly easy to add a shim on the outside of the side rails to "lock" it in tightly between your wheel wells.

Have you tested the weight capacity?

I haven't tested the actual weight. I typically have my pack out boxes, compressor, handtools, etc so 200 lbs on a usual day.
