I play a Magic the Gathering Online Vintage league with Doomsday Combo, a deck I tried in my preparation for the NYSE Open. Doomsday is well-positioned in the MH3 metagame where Jewel Shops is on top. Doomsday is one of the most powerful decks, capable of turn 1 wins or grinding control games. It draws the most cards in the format. It plays its own Force of Wills and Null Rods to fight off other combo decks. Can I master this in time for NYSE? Is this the Modern Horizons meta crusher? You would not believe how often I'm like "Brian isn't mentioning a pretty good line he has here?" And then I stare really hard and finally notice the Chalice of the Void that's been in play for the last 3 turns

I've played a fair amount of d-day decks in legacy and cedh, and the difference between getting to build a pile containing lotus + ancestral vs not is insane.
@boshnroll you may need to update your intro now with the NYSE open. Thats quite the big achievement, and definitely needs to be added.

For game 3 couldn't you have made a plie with demonic consultation as top and 2 oracles bottom and not force hull breacher?
No because consultation exiles 6 cards before it starts looking for stuff
Its interesting to see this dwck compared to legacy doomsday. It feels like the difficulty is flipped here: In legacy its a lot easier to get to the doomsday and it can be a very hard puzzle figuring out a pile, in vintage its so much easier to build a pile but much harder to get there
You say "it doesn't matter" to the hollow one vs dredge.
If you pitch misstep to counter the hollow one you can make a pass turn without actually losing anything except a force, but you only really need a single force to beat dredge here, if that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at 23:10 I think there may have been a line with Dig Through Time if you let the Hullbreacher resolve and saved the Force for the Intuition. A pile with Dig, Oracle, land, and two random cards would also play around Mindbreak Trap there. It depends on what their last card in hand was though.

I'm curious why vintage doomsday decks don't include cavern of souls to protect Thassa's Oracle on the way down. Does all the fast mana in vintage mean you are going off so fast that you can't spare the land drop?
Yeah it’s not necessary and comes at too big of a cost

No, he only has 4 mana, so he can't cast fluster if he tried that turn
@@rekenner Oh he played the fetchland but couldn't find with it. He could go off but not with protection.
I think you are also supposed to fetch before doomsday. That gets you an extra land in your pile. There isn’t much zero mana creature removal played so it’s low risk to cast oracle on one card in library.

What are you cutting to make room for it and how does that affect the matchup spread?

The amount of times you play your doomsday pile assuming you need 0 cards for thoracle is actually bothering me kinda not really, thoracle itself is 2 blue devotion, meaning a deck with 1 card in it is still a solved pile, and wins off of thoracle
Yeah if you want to open up creature removal as something you’re willing to lose to, you can make non-empty pile. Sometimes that’s fine, but the deck can figure out most situations without inviting that counterplay.
