    I am so super PROUD of you!!! You have grown and overcome so much this year. Without realizing it you have been practicing mindfulness. Just being in the present moment. It has allowed you and your family "all" of you in a new way. When you have those moments of doubting, frustration, confusion, have the hubby reread you this message. So you know you are enough. You are doing far more than your best. It's all ok. Everything is happening in its divine timing as it should unfold. You are loved, valued, and cherished. Big Hugs from Vegas! ❤

      Thank you Vivien for that. I am going to copy this and paste it in my notes and read it every day too. Because your words are so so true. And need to tell myself this as well. And yes she is so hard on herself and my goodness kicks so many of our butts I always try to tell her that. I only wish I could do a tenth of what she does :) hugs and love

    Hey Amber, You just do Amber! Those of us with permanent challenges are working within our budget of energy constraints. Each day I do what I can with a running list of short term must be done items and those more to the near future and beyond.
    I have had surgeries that have kept me out of the garden for the whole season. So I have been humbled by life and I do understand what it means to be unable to do a thing like get out of bed. So every single day in the garden is a valuable treasure and every single failure is embraced with the joy of just being there. I have taken all the fingers I point with and hide them away because I will never point another finger at someone for a bad choice or a failure. A hug and a word of encouragement is the best response and an offer to help next time.
    So watching you as you travel this journey I am quite proud to see your progress and the ability you have to give yourself grace to remove pressure and focus on the biggest achievement with the least cost and physical efforts. You are learning to work smarter and not harder. God bless y'all I hope you make some great memories with your family, Steven

    I know your a very private family but you could do an open garden day? maybe your local viewers would help with weeding/gardening in exchange to meet you and lunch?
    I know people pay to go on work days at certain places x just a thought x

    Your videos are absolutely helpful! I followed your example from a recent video and pulled my garlic plants 4 weeks after I'd harvested the scapes, rather than waiting for them to die back a bit. It was great advice because it is the nicest harvest I've ever had! My garden is a 10'x16' plot in a community garden. The bugs discovered it long ago, so we have to be super-vigilant about things like cucumber and potato beetles. I've been planting onions (and other onion-like things - shallots, scallions) amongst my tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants, and I think it really helps. Some onions don't make it - but they still do a great job repelling the bugs - so I consider the onions that do make it to be a bonus. And as I mentioned in a previous comment, I find that growing oregano near my cucumbers and squashes really helps repel those nasty striped beetles! We have a giant patch of oregano at the community garden - one time I even grabbed some branches of that and put it on the ground near where I'd found beetles, and it really helped. Thanks for the garden tour - it may not be perfect straight rows, but I think it's gorgeous. To me, as long as it produces, there's no wrong way to garden.

    My ground cherries come back but being in New Brunswick our grow season isn't long enough. So the plant comes back but doesn't produce fruit. You may have better luck in a greenhouse in Ontario.

    • @FairlyRooted
      @FairlyRooted  2 месяца назад +1

      They’d definitely can, you have to have a high ratio of bugs for them to avoid the plants, unless it’s plants they don’t like to eat haha

      @hummingbirdforestgarden 2 месяца назад +3

      @@tracytalksaboutit2099 sometimes (like @Fairly Rooted replied too) they will go after the kale and broccoli leaves but they respond well when I say "nope not there!". :) We have so many bugs this year that they have been having a great time - but I'm in the garden with them when they are in there. :) They are not qualified to work alone. :) ha ha.

    Your garden looks so productive! We live in Saskatchewan and were planning on a market garden this year too, but life circumstances are pushing it to next year for us too. The weeds have been a struggle for us this year, but I found your video encouraging. Btw, asparagus is very resilient- grows wild in the ditch here.🙂

    Everything looks wonderful to me no matter what. And gardens will do their own thing sometimes as you know to :) But you are reaping wonderful here. My cucumbers this year are just aweful. They bolted then I picked off the flowers and they grew a teeny bit more haaa now tiny like pickle size on them that think they are full grown cucumbers. So a little snack I guess, and they tried is the main part. Weather just not been great here either. Your squash looks soooooo wonderful. I believe that too see what happens :) Everything looks good honey. You help us a lot always have. hugs and luv

      Its best to pick them after the first frost day, if they get a freeze they should taste sweeter.

    I just dont understand how you do it, i know everyone keeps telling me that failure means you're learning but all ive been doing is failing. Ive never been so disappointed in myself than this year, i tried to plant a big garden, i was so excited, and so hopeful and hardly anything grew because we had a false spring, and i planted things to early, i did so many things wrong and everyday im so depressed, i do everyone entirely on my own and its just going horribly. I dont know how to do it i dont know how to keep going or what the point of anything in life is, i dont know how to get myself to your level one day i dont understand how to keep getting out of bed everyday it feels like theres no reason to keep going

    • @FairlyRooted
      @FairlyRooted  2 месяца назад +1

      I think right now, you don’t need to be gardening. You need to be taking care of yourself first. Speak with your dr, and get a therapist if possible. If you still absolutely want to garden, then start SMALL, a few things in pots, then as you learn, grow more. I started off growing for my family in found objects out of the trash, and I had a ton of failures, and I still do have failures. It’s not easy, but you do learn over YEARS. But first things first, you take of yourself. Please go get some help for your mental health.
