I sure do love making cakes and roses, and this time I'm supersizing it with this sculpted rose cake. It's Ginormous, and I can tell you, it was delicious!

Materials -
• Two 6" round cakes - made using one batch of our vanilla cake recipe (see link below)
• 600g (1lb 5oz) Sweet buttercream (see link below)
• 1.2kg (3lb 10oz) Modelling chocolate (see recipe link below)
- 150g (5.3oz) Dark pink - 3 parts Wilton Rose and 2 parts Sugarflair Ruby
- 300g (10.5oz) Mid Pink - 3 parts Wilton Rose and 2 parts Sugarflair Ruby - amzn.to/1V5ycbS
- 600g (1lb 5oz) Light Pink - 3 parts Wilton Rose and 2 parts Sugarflair Ruby
- 50g Mid Green (1.7oz) - 3 parts Americolor Leaf Green and 2 parts Americolor Forest Green
- 100g Dark Green (3.5oz) - Americolor Forest Green

Really gorgeous. This would also be beautiful as one of the roses that are yellow with pink edges on the petals. Oh my goodness, could you imagine a dozen of these (in different flavors) for a garden wedding instead of the traditional stacked cake? So many possibilities. Thank you for sharing this lovely cake.

+redhotsweetpotatoe You mean like a peace rose? That is what I thought of when you mentioned it. Might be difficult to manage the color gradation, but I'd bet our girl cake style could do it!

I stumbled across your videos when I was bored one day and I fell in LOVE with your cakes! Oh my goodness, what talent you have. I love baking and I find it difficult to source tutorials that will be detailed enough for me to get a clear understanding on what is needed to make the cake work, but you are very detailed and thorough with your cake tutorials, which is so helpful!! (It shows that you know what you're doing)

So last weekend, I made this cake... Mine was nowhere near as impressive as yours and I hit quite a few snags, but had fun along the way. I don't know how you get your modelling chocolate as pliable as it is, mine kept cracking when I rolled it out. I found somewhere that to fix the problem, you can add more syrup, so I tried that. I spent the best part of two days kneading chocolate! First to dye it and then to stop it being so dry! Didn't work so well, but I am silly enough to try making modelling chocolate again... I'm pleased as punch with the result though, and my friend was chuffed to pieces with her 30th birthday pressie! I would add a picture of my attempt, but for some reason, I can't...
I saw in another video to add the food coloring to the syrup and that way it's easier to have the color distributed more easily. I'm going to try this cake this week. Wish me luck 😱 lol
