Vipers are just such overlooked cars. They’ve undergone so much evolution in their development stages after each chassis.

It’s so unfortunate that car safety regulations and laws made it basically impossible to keep the viper’s looks and performance

My uncle was one of the drivetrain engineers of the first Viper. He took me for a ride in a prototype when I was a kid. Felt like the bat mobile. We lived right near the Chrysler HQ.

One time in the early 2000s my dad had a 99gt mustang and we were driving down the freeway to Las Vegas NM. A yellow viper just blew the tires off us and we were somewhere around 100mph I still see the plate (FANG)
I have memories as a kid living next door to the Nelsons. That family had so much money that at the end of Fourth of July, there would just be fireworks, scattered all over the front of their property. I would regularly perform cleanup duties just so I would have the opportunity to harvest their ‘leftovers’ good times.
I’ve drove Lambo’s, Ferraris, Porsches even drove a Mclaren 570s up and down the street once… But I’ve never been as scared with my heart racing like I was driving a 1994 OG Viper. The torque is UNBELIEVABLE!
So I have not listened to the whole episode yet, but the third guy’s story is going to be hard to beat.
I had a 1994 Dodge Viper had it for about seven years one day leaving Walmart, a big ass truck backed into my car and destroyed the whole driver side insurance paid me never bought another one heartbroken❤😢

Viper!!!! Best American car ever, I've loved it since the first time I ever saw one.
2nd video reminds me of a when I bought my first car a 1979 Mustang Indy Pace Car 5.0 4 speed. It was my escape from my overbearing mom. It had been raced in the SCCA showroom stock series class A when it was new. It had been thoroughly abused by the time I got it so I had to keep fixing things or paying to fix it. UNTIL, it had an engine fire. Insurance company dragged me through the weeds only paying for half fixes. I finally put it up for sale which took about 6 months to finally happen. The moment that someone was actually buying it I was giddy to finally get this chapter in my life over.

I had the 1/43 die cast Viper as a kid. It was the coolest car. Completely pointless as a Brit with our tiny roads, and apparently a bit dangerous, but I still love it.
viper is shorter then skoda octavia and about same width as bmw 5 series. Its not a big car.

In the early 90's (when I was a teenager) I worked for a dork that named his business "viper motors" although he sold regular used cars, got into Harleys, and actually did have a cool 69 pro stock camaro, but I got it (like Wayne Carini) calling his business F40 lmao :D

Here’s a quick story for you Ed, back in the 90s and early 2000s I had an uncle that was head of Chrysler division my other uncle out here in California really wanted an SRT 8 300… this car back in 2006 was pretty hot so my said Uncle was able to get his hands on the SRT at that time Chrysler was allowing you to take your car and track it at the nearest track which happens to be for us Searspoint. My uncle shows up with his SRT8 he’s the only one there everybody else was vipers they came up to my uncle and said ” hey stay out of our way we’re gonna be a lot faster than you” well they didn’t realize my uncle used to race Trans Am😅 my uncle was right up there with them at Searspoint, all the viper guys couldn’t believe it!

Viper has won more races..and the street car has more track records.
@@cromBumny The fact that there are a lot more Vipers out there might have a bit to do with that fact. The Viper running in GTS Class at LeMans and GTS Class in the American LeMans Series confirms Its "Race Creds." The Ford GT ran in GT1 at LeMans and in the FIA GT1 Championship and won the GT3 Team Championship. They've both done quite well in different classes.
No Ford gts have taken the track since the originals..

911 Turbo, Countach, Pantera and wide body Mercedes 500sec had 345/35/15's from the factory
I remember a few years ago you could find them sub 40k. When I finally was in a position to have a play car (viper) the prices skyrocketed. Soooo I had to settle for something different.

Amazing cars
The first several generations of Viper were just absolutely insane, murderous cars. You couldn't keep them in a straight line under heavy acceleration because the back stepped out and the tires spun. Which, in its own way, was exactly what Americans wanted. It was a true muscle car. And it wanted to kill you. The last model they made was a lot more competent as a sports car and handled well, had plenty of power to smoke the tires, but was able to be driven with a measure of control. I also found it to be the most beautiful version. A shame they killed it off. Expect its value to hold steady a bit longer then increase in value over time as people regret that they didn't buy enough of them for Chrysler to consider keeping it.

Most places can't fix the viper's. There's no parts available. You have to rebuild your old parts.

It honestly sounded like the one Canadian that was supposed to export the car never did the paperwork nor wanted to do so even though they knew how to do so. On top of that, it sounds like they kept sending the wire transfers back on purpose giving the buyer the run-around. Over-all, I doubt that is anyone who is someone worth doing business with or provides any kind of customer support.

The Viper is and always will be my all time childhood dream car.
I remember the day my 5yo self got a ride in an R/T 10 and the rest was history. I will own a Viper at one point in my life. The GTS ideally, but I would love an ACR.

I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed Matt a lot more in this segment-he was animated and fun. Previously I'd viewed Car Trek as the fun, relatable RUclipsrs, and Sorted as the annoying RUclipsrs. Maybe time to re-evaluate.
