All I can say is.....John is gold. "This can be red" makes me smile every time that I think of it. I've used it as kind of a meme response for when I'm not happy with something. And.......why the hell do we get regurgitated superhero movies month after month when the Whittington Racing story is out there? C'mon John, pitch it!
I worked in New York commercials in the 70s and 80s which was the heyday of crazy expensive ads. John says there are dozens of people in advertising who say 'this can be red' and expect the car to magically change color. There were hundreds. It was endlessly amusing
This gentleman is by far my favorite story teller on this channel. Don't get me wrong! Doug, arnie, and casey are the jimmy jam as well, but this guy is an orator on a different level.
Listening to this video, great stories and superb storytelling. I totally get the Buick story and looking after the car, who cares if the car is worth $2,000 or $2,000,000. It about respecting the car and more importantly the owner. Well done sir
Years ago I had a beater 1966 Datsun pickup,Some had given me a license plate frame that said “ My other car is a Porsche”. My aunt seen it,read it out loud, and then said “is that good?” Still cracks me up.
In this video you can really see the progression of the VinWiki set. All the momentos in the background like 1:00:18 vs 1:21:37 . I love these long collection type videos. Ive already seen them all, But John is a awesome guy and its fun to see them all again.
The LT-1 Caprices weren’t up to the task of law enforcement or highway patrol. We had a fleet of them in the early 90’s and they all suffered from constant overheating as the cooling systems just couldn’t keep up in the middle of the summer, idling for 10-12 hours a day as police cars often do on asphalt with the A/C on. Otherwise, the Chevy’s were a bit quicker and overall faster than their Ford Crown Victoria counterparts, but the 4 speed automatic transmissions, the 4L60 I believe, in the Chevys just did not last. By the mid 90’s, we were a fleet of Crown Victorias exclusively, which was refined over the years to become bullet-proof. Police agencies all over the country miss the venerable old Crown Vics.
I FINALLY get "This Could Be Red Shirt" !!! Hahaha... That story and the LeMons 250lm are by far my most favorite frown John. Thank you for making this public
A couple of comments: You're breaking my heart with the black bathtub Porsche....I had a chance to buy one for a super low price but I was working my way thru my Master's program in an engineering school. The only way I was making it was thru grants, moneys from chemical research, and teaching for the college. My teaching associate monies were barely putting beans on the table....let alone buying the Porsche. And another one got away...... It happened to me when I graduated from high school, also....that was a '58 Corvette. What did I do???? Went to college instead of Vietnam.....sigh. A third comment; You have perfectly captured the essence of New Yorkers....I've worked with them.....totally oblivious to real life and super entitled. At the time I was driving an old 1959 VW bus...... I've been tuning, overhauling, loving cars since I was 8 years old. I worked my way thru undergrad tuning multi-carbed muscle cars and the occasional Jag XKE.
It’s all about your influence you have on RUclips. They law enforcement have tried to go after RUclipsrs for years now just because. Y’all will win this.
I have watched "This can be red", "6 wheels are best", "The Whittington Brothers" and "The untold Ford vs Ferrari story" 20+ times... I have only watched "Billionaire car pranks" once or twice, I get uncomfortable watching that one.
Be sure to visit our store for a spring clearance on many of our t-shirt designs. Just $10 each for remaining stock.
Cool! Thanks!
I was literally just binge watching John’s stories lmao, Ed must be watching
Can there be a video on the RPM ACT please
All I can say is.....John is gold. "This can be red" makes me smile every time that I think of it. I've used it as kind of a meme response for when I'm not happy with something.

"I protected it like if it was a 300SL .. to me a car is a car, I protect all cars" - I like this guy. Respect!!
Integrity.
You can’t buy that.
My favorite car guy on RUclips because of this. Period. 👍💪👊
Yup! And as he said a clean one is hard to find. Take care of and love ever car you use, or do use it.
Integrity at its best
I need an entire channel of John telling old racing stories.
Lmao I definitely didn't read this correctly the first time, roller coaster ride
@@paulcarmi8130 😂😂
You said it not me 😂
I second this
You got your wish! -- I just found his Ficarra's Classic channel (now 1yr old). His intro vid: ruclips.net/video/LKO-B06AspY/видео.html
Glad we finally get a "best of Ficarra" compilation video. I could listen to his stuff all day.
Me too! #thiscouldbered

Can't wait! I was just sitting here, thinking "I'd love to watch some john ficarra stories" and saw this!
Habout that Faust story, Ed? Inquiring minds want to know what happened to it 🤔
It’ll be great! You guys need to get a show on Amazon.
John Ficarra is an amazing story teller.
I worked in New York commercials in the 70s and 80s which was the heyday of crazy expensive ads. John says there are dozens of people in advertising who say 'this can be red' and expect the car to magically change color. There were hundreds. It was endlessly amusing
This dude can tell it. Feels like I’m around a camp fire listening...thank you for keeping us going. Need it in these crazy ass times.
Make a black lipstick and call it "This Can Be Red"😂🤣 Probably sell millions.
I finally get his “this could be red” shirt! Hahahaha
Wait really? 😅
You just know your in for a great story when you hear his famous line “ I used to own a film car company in New York”
This gentleman is by far my favorite story teller on this channel. Don't get me wrong! Doug, arnie, and casey are the jimmy jam as well, but this guy is an orator on a different level.
Wish the last 2904 running made the cut. The pure emotion from that video was priceless

First story made me hurt. Only for the fact that there are powerful rich people that are just so disconnected from the world.
John is the best VINwiki story teller to me and has the best stories. He's a legit car guy.
I love John's sense of humor.
When is Off the Record going to be in Marion County OR?
You need to leave Marion county. In fact, I recommend 101 over i5. Longer, and saner...
You still live in Oregon after 2020? Oof.
I have watched the “This can be red” story 4 times and I always gleen something new out of it
John's telling of the amazing 1965 24hr of Le Mans story is hands down the best on this channel. Brilliant.
Yes, been waiting for this one! Ficarra is a great storyteller.
Awesome I just listened to Travis's stories last week. John is a great storyteller. We need a John Ficarra part 2.
I love my "This can be red" shirt. Thanks Ed and John.
i never tire of john's racing history stories!! nice hour i may have to repeat! POLL: who would you cast in a Whittington bros. movie?
ed's transition into the sponsor is always done really well, i can never be mad at it.
I have watched this 5 times already.
It has to be the best story on vinwiki.
I listen to John's playlist once a week lol.
2 hours of John Ficarra? What have we done to deserve such a blessing?
Jon is the best story teller, we need more classic racing stories!
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST EPISODES EVER. Period.
He’s my favorite story teller please start a podcast John I need that in my life
The clients may not get it, but car guys do and we truly appreciate these cars.
"this can be red" yes, yes, this car can be red in post. Photoshop is a wonderful thing.

So awesome to hear another Mark Donohue fan. My favorite racing drive of all time.
Am I the only one who realized the “Buick regal” was actually an Oldsmobile Cutlass?
Yup, and it’s a later 80’s, not the early 80’s style like he mentioned
"This can be red" is my new "You have no idea how this thing works".
My #1 Favorite person. THANK YOU JOHN!!
Crap... i was going to work in the garage and now I am trapped in front of my I-Pad for the next 2 hours... thanks a lot Ed. Heheee
My favorite storyteller
thanks for this sequence
John, it has been a real honor to listen to some of your stories. Be happy, be safe
John is hands down the best storyteller guest on vinwiki
I don't even drive. But I must say I really enjoy your channel , Great Stories. Thank you all. Kind regards.
Love the story about Tanner Foust on the set of Top Gear which I can no longer find anywhere!
It’s on pornhub last time I checks
His racing stories are my favorite stories on this channel
Number 1 is my favorite story
"Making good time on a road trip." best euphimism on speeding........
That first story gets me every time. “THIS CAN BE RED”
Can we get more of John just telling stories? Like anything car related. I've just binged listened to everything I've found so far on Vinwiki
I've listened to this story over three times because it keeps popping up and it always gets better
Great video , great story teller - Much thanks !
Maybe it is cause we both worked in the picture car industry I’m not sure but John is in my top 3 story tellers on VinWiki ever!
"This can be red" story killed me.
John, if you have a channel please post it. Your stories are legendary
Look up Ficarra Classic

I respect John so so so much for how he handled the music video Buick Regal situation. I love that so much. Standing up for the owner
Good timing with the reprint of his shirt!

John ficara and Doug tabbit = have the best story’s ever = I can listen all week end
i have a hot wheels version of the 6 wheel car. it was one of my favorites. 6 WHEELS!
🤣🤣 "Fly casual." Great frickin line right there, right on par with a fellow Car Craft Anti-Tour offender, "We were flyin low on I-10."
A black lipstick named "this could be red" is a genius product idea lol
I FINALLY get "This Could Be Red Shirt" !!! Hahaha... That story and the LeMons 250lm are by far my most favorite frown John. Thank you for making this public

always good stories from john!
It’s all about your influence you have on RUclips. They law enforcement have tried to go after RUclipsrs for years now just because. Y’all will win this.
I love these longer videos
I met John a few times through work, he always seemed like a nice guy and he gave me and my Family a tour of Canepa once. Very cool
Yea John story.
John is a legend for the sole fact that he has standards and the clout of his clients is irrelevant to his standards.
"40 year old man sitting a this car going, vroom vroom, vroom. Because who wouldnt" lmfao
John: I used to own a film car company
Me: Awwww here we go again x-D
Maybella- "this can be red"
John- oh yes! It can be red...but black
This guy has become one of my favorite story tellers. Him and Justin Bell (full code police car).
I absolutely love the image of John eating his lunch in a Tyrell 6 wheeler 👍😆
"This can be red"😂🤣
Love your work mate 🇦🇺
LOVE THAT CAP!
I just enjoy in his stories
"This could be red."
God I don’t understand how he handled that lady so well 😂🤣
John is the hidden gem of VINwiki.
Am I the only one triggered by the fact he called it a Buick a dozen times when it's obviously an Olds Cutlass! Awesome stories though :)
Bruh! Made my asshole itch. Blasphemy
Great stories and great story telling!
Now I know where mr. Ficarra gets his appreciation for 6 wheeled Range Rovers....
Ficarra and Rabbit are definitely my two favorites on the channel, followed closely by Ed and Doug.
Man, I could listen to his stories for hours! And apparently I did 😄
This going to be good
I have watched "This can be red", "6 wheels are best", "The Whittington Brothers" and "The untold Ford vs Ferrari story" 20+ times... I have only watched "Billionaire car pranks" once or twice, I get uncomfortable watching that one.
I can listen to john all day
John can tell a story
1.5 million AMA with John Ficarra? Perhaps?
“This could be Red” best car story ever!
Cool, really enjoyed!!!!!!! 👍👍👍
This man is brilliantly amazing!! It’s like listening to me talking about my Jersey in law family lol.
"I love this car because it's shaped like a rock"🤣🙄🤣🤣🙄
