Here's a question I have bought a used car from a garage I have no way of knowing if it was changed car dealer told me timing belt was changed any suggestions.
my 2004 pacifica was replaced the two engine heads . and now the key starter does not start the engine . cuold possibly need to reprogram the computer .? appretiate thanks
You mention 100,000 miles? or kilometers? My manual for a VW Jetta 2011, does not mention anything until 185,000 kilometers, then it says check at 120,000, 150,000, etc my dealer had on form they recommend chaning it at 100,00 kilomters approx 60,000 miles. also it does not even mention The Water Pump at all in all service through the life of the car.
If your car has a timing belt, just drive it real nice and easy like grandma would. Or you can beat the hell out of it and bust the damn belt! It's a built in weak point.
I've had a civic and a pathfinder, both 1998s. Went well into the 200k mile range on original equipment. They eventually died, but not from this.
If you have an interference engine, you can’t take that risk
Great explanation
I have a Vauxhall Zafira 18 years old BUT it ONLY has 41,000 miles so should be good for a few more then.
Replacing the water pump at the same time is something you should do. If you are already tearing it down for a timing belt, just do it.
there are some models which belts need to be checked already by 40-50 thousand miles

See comment above, he recommends just replacing
Why not just stay with the old tried and tested failsafe timing chain?.....$$$$$ thats why.

you want to replace timing belt every time you buy second hand car. Even if you're given tons op paper work etc you still want to change it
This is exactly the I formation I was looking for
@@FreedomofSpeech865 don't risk it pal and always assume that people lie
after how many kilometeres the timing belt should be changed
NARASIMHAMURTHY BOLLA 60,000 miles or 6 - 8 years AT THE MOST.

There's your answer., it's a VW don't worry about the timing belt., it won't make it that long anyway....
Why do they say 5 years or 84000 miles on my van? Anyone know
4:26 "Uugh!"
Why don't they just get rid of the belts and add a couple more metal gears?

I think in the old days , when valves were driven from below, the cams were gear driven.
