I honestly loved the anime and I'm still hoping for a season 3,but I heard some people want a remake as well

Honestly everytime Yuu would excuse anything anyone did that was bad with the "Your my family! So its okay!' was so frustrating. He was so stupid and trusted everyone so easily because theyre "family" and even when Mika would try and talk some sense into Yuu he would never listen.

Actually, I have no problem with him trying to see the good in everyone.
Also, he just like many people there has been lastingly traumatized like, all his life and just doesn't want to be alone again and see those around him die. I think that's one of the biggest reasons why he went from not wanting a family at all to clinging to people too fast and not wanting to give them up. To me that's a good or sympathetic trait and only one of the reasons why he's my favorite.
Of course I'm not trying to say he had no flaws or everybody must like him, of course part of that's just his natural personality. I'm just tired of so many people acting like he was 'simply dumb' and acts the way he does for no reason
The thing about Yuu as a protagonist is that I kind of always wished they had fully embraced a corruption arc.
Like him dropping all the others for Mika isn't out of character, especially given the latest chapters implacation that his entire being revolved around Mika.
But the problem is they always backtrack with his character.
Personally I would've loved to see his progression from a protagonist who is known to be selfish, gullible and putting his friends above everything to a protagonist who becomes obsessive, desperate and turns to a more morally gray side.
But the Problem is even when Yuu does something morally fucked up, the other characters don't recognize it and it always gets ruined by him backtracking the next chapter. Like it was acknowleged before by Ashera that Yuu has a twistef personality but because of his messy writing it feels like the writer lets Yuu act completely different from chapter to chapter.
Also even when there were moments when Yuu was like "Oh I have a plan" or acts manipulative in the next chapter he'll just giggle about it and be like "hihi sorry was feeling goofy "

She's with Mika my favourite and has some amazing potential and the most interesting backstory but the author purely focuses on her feelings for Yuu instead of anything else and its so frustratinf

even in S1/S2, the 'better' parts, I felt that Yuu was meant to be more of a loose canon type of thing, like in S2 when saving Guren he's like "sorry guys, I always did work better alone" as he takes the pills... that's so clearly setting up the "Yuu's not alright actually". Sadly, it seems he goes unpunished...
Also I'd love for you to get started on Shinoa
It's not about right or wrong. That scene was to establish yu would never give up on his family, and would break any taboo and choose death first. It may be "wrong" but it also it kind of admirable in a way. It directly contrasts guren letting his father die.@@wuba5456
The manga was so fking good, and things started to do down bad after chapter 100. Literally the definition of W potential that got trashed. I feel like Yu is not obsessed with Mika but the fkin author himself.
I am so flabbergasted on why the hell they are giving Mika so much fkin importance for absolutely no fkin reason. The writing is trashed, Mika had potential to be one of my favorite charechters, but he's the one that ruined the whole fukin story line. Its as if he's the protagonist and not Yu like WTF. Author what the hell have you done?
A thing I hate in the manga is Mika’s resolve. As you said, yes he was right most of the time and I think it’d be much more interesting if Mika didn’t just blindly agree with everyone after someone disagrees or says something opposite to his opinion. It’s so annoying- Mika going up against everyone’s beliefs would be so interesting to see but it sometimes feels like the writer is too scared to cause a conflict between the main cast (yes, there’s a conflict between Yuu and the others in the manga atm but I BET after they meet up again Yuu will say something that'll make everyone suddenly agree with him)
I think mika put up with things he didn't agree with because he wanted to stay near yu, and yu make dumb decisions, and mika is a fool in love so...he follows yu. Love make people stupid. 😅😂❤
Poor mikah, Mikah actually has common sense but instead of being able to share his thoughts he gets told to shut up immediately.
Honestly as someone who enjoys the newer arcs quite a bit I have to agree with you on most points. I really enjoy the more introspective elements and all of the emotional stuff, so the saving demon Mika arc is actually one of my favorites, but yeah.. the fact that Yuu knew he could come back immediatly took away the tension. Then there's Shinoa and I dont think that the romance works at all. Her crush is completely one sided (and the manga heavily implies, that Yuu already likes someone else), so the story could only go in two ways. One - she gets rejected or two - Yuu completely out of nowhere likes her back. Well... she got rejected. How the story continues? She becomes a yandere...ok (honestly I just want her to move on and be happy)
The story is honestly so messy, but at the same time there are so many interesting themes and ideas (also very nice art), that make me like it. :DD sry for long comment
Well considering that her crush on Yu was something built on lies to begin with, another route is that she finally gets the hell over the conditioning of her sister put her through and finally thinks for herself for once. Because at this point its looking like Yu's feelings for Mika were the only part of his memories that weren't manipulated.
I hope Shinoa just doesn't become the antagonist.
I would really hate that.

this is a comfort anime for me, and i can overlook the problems because i rewatch it whenever im in depression. it helps me out. anyway i hope a new season comes out

yeah I've watched it around 7 times at this point. I'm just so in love with it and even if the manga at some point turns out to be absolute garbage I'm probably still gonna love it more than anything
Yuu tbh is my favorite character besides Asuramaru, but since the last chapters I can't believe what happened to him. I think he was well written until they planned to rescue Ferid and Krul. Now everytime he uses the word "Family" I could scream. I wouldn't have that big of an issue with him, if they didn't begin to reduce his character to "Y'all are my family blah blah" (also if he said he just want to save Mika not his family it would just be half as bad as it is...). Also I can accept him being dumb as long as his decision still make sense (bro could trust Guren till S2, but how dumb do you need to be to trust him after that?!?!)
Female chacters writting in this serie kills me. İts one of the worst ones i see if its not the worst. Their backstories mostly over looked, their sufferings ignored or only serves to male chacters. İts not avarge even in LN (which i highly reccomonded and have a better writting for so many reasons). Female cast doesnt have any dialog expect boob jokes and being inlove, it could be explain by their cultish families (all human female cast comes from familes who serves to Hiiragi or directly from Hiiragi family) but it just serves as a joke most of the time (like 99% of the serie). İ mean sexism in this serie is so bad it affects male cast (Mika for example). Anway, Mahiru and Krul solo.

Nah as someone who owns the Guren lightnovels I hate how Mahiru and Shinoa are written too "damsel in distress with the need for love making", especially Shinoa who's only 7/8 years old at time.
@@happylikehappy mahiru was never like that tho. She was the one who activelly make problems. Her writting was way better than most of the female chacters actually. And for Shinoa, she really didnt have fighting experience at the time so its normal. İ agree abaout falling love thing tho. But i think it actually can work for Mahiru's chacter , the problem is every other girl thinks like that. İ think Mahiru wanted unconditional love rather than romantic love because she never really have anyone who would love her because she is Mahiru and not because of she is a Hiiragi. İn Shinoas case it was probly brainwashing from Mahiru , Hiiragis (they are like a cult),and Shikima doji. Mahiru's obsession with love can be from brainwashing too. İ am not saying its good writting tho.

I do love Shinoa and Mahiru and think they are super interesting characters until they start acting ooc in my eyes by talking about how big their boobs are and stuff which makes me wonder if the author has never talked to a woman or girl before. (But apparently the author has or had a girlfriend.)
As for your points on shinoa, guren, and yu, while your not wrong at all, I think it's worth noting seraph of the end is meant to be a dark fantasy tragedy. I believe the author is intentionally putting his characters through negative character arcs. Yu as a protagonist is actually good if looked at from a tragic perspective.(This got too long)
The guren prequels were essentially a greek tragedy. Where a character tries to change fate but ends up causing it. Guren wanted to break free of the hiragi clan, save mahiru, protect his loved ones, and save the world. But the deck was unfairly stacked against him by beings that were practically gods in comparisan(second and first progenitors), by such a degree that he never had a chance. He stuggles anyway, but only makes things worse. As the story progresses, guren makes more and more mistakes which culminates in an unforgivable sin. It's straight up stated him picking up the demonic sword, not killing mahiru, and commiting the taboo are all mistakes, but he does them anyway. And becomes and anti-villain trying to atone for his sins no matter how many more he has to commit. Now everyone continuously making excuses for him is annoying, I'll give you that. But the reason they do it is because they want to be able to forgive him as he's irreplacable to him. Also he's holding their family hostage.
Shinoa showed signs of her turning into a demon when fighting the first(the horn remains after he leaves). And if you read the guren prequals you know what happened to mahiru. Shinoa fought against the darkness in her heart for her whole life, but now giving into it has consequences for her sanity. She's likely gonna become a villain/antagonist for a while, but ultimately choose not to fall quite as far as mahiru. As for her hating Mika, lets be honest, she never cared for Mika himself. She tried to help him becuase Yu wanted to help him, she was in love with Yu and therefore protected Mika as a favour to him. Mika on the other hand, while eventually acknowledging them as real friends to Yu, never really trusted or cared for them because as a vampire he can't get attached to new people, so the squad never really cared either.
Yu isn't just traumatized, he's a brainwashed magical robot created by the first who is struggling against but ultimately bound to his programming. He cannot value himself because he originally wasn't even a real person. The theme of the story, according to the author, is finding a reason to live even when it's hopeless. Yu does the wrong thing because that's the point. His very existence was a mistake, but he wants to be loved anyway, that's his greatest desire. So long as one does that, he'll do anything and forgive anything they do, hence guren. It's also explained he was actually suicidal in the beginning, which explains his recklessness. He discards morality but at the same time feels compassion for everyone he sees. In the vampire spinn-off novels, he was actually happy the world came to an end because it made the kids rely on him and gave him purpose. But later in ch 119 he admits the reason he never cared about the world is becuase he never looked at it, beign hyperfocused on whoever could love him that the rest of the world became a mere background. Now he's trying not to follow in Guren and Doji's footsteps by looking at the whole world and trying to save anyone. The author has two routes. Have him overcome his flaws and become a true hero, or have him remain a tragic protagonist and fail while bringing calamity on everything. We'll see.
About the demons.
1-Yu got angry at asuramaru because he literally tortured mika and broke his mind without explanation, and yu had to hurry to complete his objective. Also after just seeing mika die he was on the edge mentally. So he simply decided to take asura down immediately and hear him out later. Not gonna lie seeing you defeat asura by drowning him in desire and becoming a stronger demon than him was pretty dope.
2- During the rematch Yu doesn't hate asura at all and even comforts him momentarily by saying saving krul wasn't a mistake, but asura has given up on life and wants to die with his sister, and Yu has to devour him to save mika, so they are basically old friends being forced to fight. I though it was both touching how asura snapped yu out of his brainwashing by doji and both ironic and smart that Yu used that to get the jump on him.
3- The others didn't have such a strong bond with their demons. Sure Yoichi chatted with his but they all saw them as tools to use. Only Yu truly though of asura as family.
So its all shit writing then with shittty justification?
I’m watching this to try and understand these other perspectives, but I just really don’t. Like, Shinoa’s actions make total and complete sense for her character at this point. She spent her entire life repressing everything and then was forced to let it all flow freely in trying to resist Shikama. Why did anyone think it would look healthy? A teenage crush is obsessive even in normal circumstances, never mind the extreme ones she’s going through. Even without her past trauma, it’s a choice that was pushed onto her by Guren, Mahiru, and Shikama.
I also think Yu’s actions make sense and don’t understand the critique there. I don’t like how the story treats Guren (that’s a complaint I do share), but Yu’s perspective toward him, at least, makes complete sense. It’s not uncommon for abuse victims to harbor genuine affection for their abusers. That’s one reason it’s so difficult for them to leave such relationships. And Guren did do meaningful good in Yu’s life. Couple that with Yu’s own lack of self worth - meaning he doesn’t see Guren mistreating him as a problem - and from a character standpoint, his attitude is logical. Yes, Yu is selfish, but that’s unrelated to the quality of the writing. There’s a complaint calling him a hypocrite for saying he wants to protect his family and then drags them into things and like…does he? When? The example shown was him fighting them after choosing Mika, but he wasn’t trying to fight them in the story. He was trying to escape as quickly as possible. Part of the whole point is that Yu hasn’t had a lot of agency because he’s been following somebody else’s plan up until choosing Mika (and maybe still even then, depending on Shikama).
I don’t think this was a bad video or mean to discredit how anyone else feels about the series. Just expressing that it didn’t help me understand the issues people are raising.

Completely agree on the Yuu take. I thought about how hard it is for Yuu to stop believing in Guren being a "good person", since Guren himself was the only figure in his life to actually help him, listen to him, train him and comfort him (in his own way) as a child. Hell, even Mika said "Guren's your saviour" because that's how Yuu sees him, a saviour who gave him the will to live on despite how depressed and worthless he felt as a child. I've seen that Yuu has a very "black or white" perspective about stuff, I guess that makes sense to his character considering he's very straightforward towards... everything. So, in Yuu's perspective, how could Guren be a "bad person", when he saved him as a child, making him a "good person"? That's why Yuu gives Guren the benefit of the doubt every time, he doesn't want to suspect him of actually having bad intentions towards him or the others. And as you said, Yuu doesn't even care about "being used" by Guren because he sees no worth in himself, he's ok with people using him, manipulating him and/or experimenting on him if it means that it'll help others.
Of course, OnS's writing isn't the best, Yuu's character writing isn't the best, but it's not that Yuu's character makes zero sense, because it does, from a psicological perspective.
@@Uhhhhnope No surprise, but I agree completely with how you phrased that. Yuu I think is one of the remaining strong points of ONS’ writing, actually. Admittedly the plot has kind of gone off the rails lately, and I’m baffled by some of the decisions leading here (for example, Yoichiro’s story should have been wrapped by now, no? We can’t seriously change the stakes from what’s happening now to Yoichiro’s revenge) - but I think the heart and soul of the series is still strong and could, hopefully, still land strongly.
@@kylegreen6711 I've heard that there won't be a new chapter next month, hopefully it serves as a way for the author to carve a clearer path as to where the series is going. Maybe it'll give us some answers too about important plot points.

I binged the manga a while ago and enjoyed it up to chapter 114. I really liked the small cliffhanger(I don't know whether it is a corect term for that scene) that happenens at the end of that chapter. I was really hyped for a month waiting for the next chapter, which to be honest turned out pretty dissapointing. I'm not a big fan of the bringing back everybody plan and I hope shionoa doesn't end up as just a love interest because I absolutely loved her through the series.
I have not read it in a long time but if I remember right the only person who loses trust in guren is shinya right? Right where it picks up from season 2 he actually shows doubt in guren and disagrees with him despite being one of the closest people to guren and then that’s just never mentioned again?😭 I totally agree it does not make any sense
Seraph of the End was so promising and I got hooked up right away. I rushed into reading manga after watching season 2 and.. well.. the story was wonky and went unexpected directions, it made me concerned a bit, but still I believed it was a good one. I wanted it to be a good one because the premise was so damn interesting. And it failed me. When Mika died and confessed his love I dropped the manga and was outraged the author did it lol. It felt so wrong. The designs are so great, the catch is so great, the world itself is so great, the power system is not the most unique but it's thought out. "Then why does the story have to be this bad in the end??" I screamed in my head. Yeah, I wish the author just scrapped those later parts and rewrote them.
To be fair on the manga, the explanation of turning humans/vampires into demons is better explained in the Guren novel prequels. It also explains a lot about Guren's motivation in more detail (which I won't spoil here).
Just a heads up: the novels are surprisingly brutal compared to the manga. Some scenes were surprisingly disturbing (nearly getting to berserk levels of fucked up). They're clearly Seinen instead of Shounen.
The novels are in omnibuses and are pretty cheap 2nd hand (they were a lot more expensive when they were new, when I bought them).
I am rereading the manga now (as I sold my English copies a long time ago due to them being out of print at the time and being worth a lot of money, particularly volume 12) I now own the Japanese versions and slowly catching up to the latest chapters. And it's becoming apparent that the prequel novels are necessary to read in order to understand what's going on in the manga.
Sorry this comment has been long, but I hope it helps. It's such a good series. Still wishing for season 3 or adaptation to the novel prequels.

I fell in love with the designs and first episode so HARD ... even the first and second season didn't feel so 'solid' to me but still adore the character designs, art, concepts... heard the manga was good but it's like.. not. I wish I wasn't so invested but there are so many points I like! but it's written so poorly... my god it hurts so much 😭
The thing is, kagami can write damn good, he just decides to leave certain things blank, which I honestly hate so much, there’s so many chapters that feel iffy, like the characters should be reacting one way, instead of another, but I kept rereading the manga over and over again while also reading “catastrophe at sixteen” and “ the story of vampire mikaela” and it makes everything somewhat clearer, but the plot is still all over the place 😭😭😭

Very well done, I agree completly with you about the last few Chapters, they are indeed "problematic".
That's why, I'm on Urds Fraction side. Even though, we probably won't see much more of Ky's and Lest's backstory, these two, along with Urd are one of my favourite Characters from the show. Oh and Ashera and Krul of course. Everyone else? Yeah, they can fail, I'd be okay with that^^
Include Mitsuba too. The rest can die.
Shinoa was the only good thing about this series, and even she lost her charm as this series “progressed”.

I mean I was expecting Shinoa to fall in love with Yuichiro because well it was just pretty obvious it'd happen but in my opinion the feelings are just ruining the character. I'm not saying the "ship" is bad or anything (even tho I've never been into it that much since the anime isn't really about romance) I just want Shinoa to be herself again yk?
I also just think that the feelings are pretty one sided just like another comment said. Yuichiro just hasn't shown any kind of attraction towards her and I think it would just really suck if he out of nowhere just fell in love with her because that just wouldn't make any sense at all.

I like the mika arc but I agree on how asuramaru was neglected, idk if the chapter that asuramaru comes back got released in january but I wondered where ashera went whilst reading. That is the only bad thing that caught my eye, everything else, to me, is pretty nice. I respect your opinion.

To all saying that the mc is dumb, in the first chapter one of the first thing mika says is that yu is dumb, and he is, wholeheartedly and its been a constant in the manga lmao. I find that funny and a bit annoying sometimes but not in a hating way, it is just how he is. Also he has his reasons to behave like he does, like come on he is just a heavly traumatised 16 boy that went through too much. (Like most of the characters in the manga, they do stupid shit too)

About his reaction to mika death, he was clearly in denial, and instead of breaking down he just hang on on the hope to save him, he couldn’t even acknowledge his death because that would have broke him, his reaction is clearly a defensive mechanism. When confronting the real possibility of losing mika he break down and goes bersek.

what makes mika's death even worse including the "he can come back" right away part was the chapter when shinoa and mitsuba got drunk. That whole chapter was awful and just a filer, since NONE of the characters were invested it makes the readers LESS invested in his death emotionally and his deaht overall because "oh it just happens he'll come back." I saw the worse takes after his death and I blame most of it on how it was written afterwards.
We could've had a moment where yuu broke down infront of the squad after his death, and that could cause the squad to have the same emotional recongization mika had when he looked at the squad when he was dying. That mika protected yuu in the end, making the squad both apprieacte mika more and possibly start to be against Guren. I feel like Kagami takes a way a shit ton of emotional progress among the squad characters in the series, instead of talking about boobs all the time Shinoa and Mitsuba could've talked about their families or even their sisters. There could've been stronger writing with the squad if Kagami just taken these risks instead of writing "We're all family so it's okay."

Yu jumping the shit out of asheramaru is one of the weirdest character decisions I seen in a minute and something I find so ironically fun. Man’s basically like “ yea fuck power of friendship you can catch these hands”

My knowledge of the manga is pretty much non-existent, but in the series, I wish Yoichi as a demon got more screen time. I could ramble on for a while about how much wasted potential Yoichi in general had as a character too, but also how great it was to have Yoichi specifically as a demon. I’m not sure if this comment made sense but… 🥲

as a ONS fan, I understand why people feel confused and frustrated with Yuu's mindset. The strangest thing is that I get it and still love him as a character even if he forgives Guren many times. and I do agree with the characters' build, quite blurry and is forgotten (Mitsuba, Yoichi, Kimizuku, ect...) They are the main casts, they are the main focus and it turns out to be one of the worst humans? well, they represent all human. and we know how bad humans are (do anything for love, sacrifice ANYONE for own deeds, ...). But right now, with the Yuu's mindset, I don't blame him for giving up his other family members to save Mika, I don't even know if he really is a human??? he was killed and re-made so many times and his only existence to be created by Doji Shikima is to bring Mika back to live!! so of course his mindset wouldn't be normal! This is not the defence for Yuu's actions and behavior. I know he's wrong, but at least, at my point of view, characters like Yuu is understandable.
Yu is a magical AI that developed an ego through love and willpower. This is explained in recent chapters.

I love this show very much but I have to agree with you... the constant Guren a*s kissing is VERY frustrating and the current conflict between the main casts is pointless cuz Yu could just simply tell them "oh how about we think of another plan were we could save everyone rather than get Mika and all of the Vampires k*lled?" and get it done with lol
Also is it only me who thinks that it's weird to bring back d*ed people?? I the d*ad should stay d*ad, like I understand that we all want our loved ones to stay with us forever ( to become immoral) but bringing them back from their d*ath? Idk the idea freaks me out really.

I think a problem with an anime adaptation is there isn't a good point to have a conclusion. Maybe after Yu fights the sixth trumpet? But after that the next 60 chapters, or quite literally half the manga, takes place in one in-verse day(this manga should've been weekly).
Season 1 had the opposite problem where they packed it full of filler and dragged things out to 1 ch an episode. Season 2 skipped stuff in exchange.

Like Mika dying, Yuu still considering Guren as family after all that horrible stuff, the plot to resurrect the past family just needs to go, don't make Shinoa go down the same road as most Shounin female love interests, give Mitsuba that much needed character development... I'll love to see the dynamic between her and her family, MAKE THESE MFS LISTEN TO MIKA and ORGANIZE THE GAWD DAMN PLOT... yeah it needs a rewrite.. Because I'd hate for the anime to continue and they do what they're doing in the manga... Some of it is good and could stay... Some is good in theory and need to be executed better and some of it just HAS TO GO

I enjoyed the anime as a stand alone.. years later decided to try the manga and got about 80% through . It got so convoluted with all the betrayals and reasoning that I just got gassed out
The anime isn't half bad. But honestly, I feel like Guren's light novels would be a better show. I personally think there was more development in characters, stronger friendships, and the characters all together seem... better, they have more tragidies and different reasonings that clash with the plot and characters. Kureto for exsample, I see less of a stuck up and ruthless/usless character in the light novels than I did in the series. As for the manin protaganist of the series, Yuu. I have nothing against him or Mika but I think the series lacked depth or something like that. I could say this becuase I like Guren more than any character, but he's seriously more complex. Yeah I know this comment is more on Guren's light novels and less about the show but in the end I'm saying the anime needed more depth with the charcters, better developments, the plot was kinda dull. Overall, not one of the worst or best animes i've seen.

Seraph of the End is my favorite anime, and it deserves a third season. As a person who read the manga, I must say, there are many scenes I'd love to see animated with sound, and I think Kagami, Yamamoto and Furuya would all agree.

I just love the seraph of the end series. Comics and movies. Even though there are mistakes.
I wish they could just redo it. Kind of how Yashahime anime was utter crap, but then the yashahime manga that came afterwards (which is rare that it happens in that order) kinda has the same story line but someone with actual common sense and good writing is redeeming it so beautifully.
Yu only starts to act like an idiot after the airport event. Before that when he is suppose to be traumatized he acts like a stoic standard MC with a clear goal. After the airport event everything is thrown out the door and he becomes an idiot because? People he made clear he did not care about died? Him just trusting the guy who murdered is family would make sense if he started to doubt Guren at that point and the whole demon army thing, but no he still trusts Guren and no doubt from ANYONE is thrown at him at this point yet they all now trust vampires?
I haven't caught up on everything as I'm writing this comment (I'm currently on chapter 100), but I agree. I think it would've been interesting to see him have doubts and a bit of crisis on who to trust especially since, well, Mika was a vampire and plus Ferid and Crowley were on their backs claiming to oh so help them. I think him questioning who he COULD actually trust or not when all his life was spent going like "vampires bad" would've been good but no he just calls anyone family and it throws me off.

Another thing I dislike is Yuu’s mentality. Like, I know he’s an actual fucking idiot, but it’s egregious now. Knowing what’s happening in the manga currently *kinda* excuses it now knowing his past, BUT, he still acts like he has the brain of a 4 year old. Everything he says and does is so simple, it feels mind-numbing to the point where you wonder if he even actually has a brain because half the time, he’s spouting off about either family, food or demons/vampires. It’s exhausting at this point.

I just watched two seasons of this anime and I was positively surprised. Story, world building and character writing was better than in case of many modern hits like Demon Slayer (third season was weak as shit xD).

I don’t think it is tbh, a lot of people insist to read it to understand more about the story and guren. For me it just made me hate guren more lmao. The wikis of the LNS do give out basic summaries which is worth more then actually buying the novels in my opinion

Yu might genuinely be my least favourite character in anime.
Yu is the most selfish, egotistical and narcissistic character I have seen in a while. He feels like a failed Eren. My literal thought process for almost every action he takes is that he needs to be removed from the army and get the Zoro to Ussop treatment of being straight up told that if he breaks away from orders again, he is done. But somehow every time he does something that will get his friends and "family" hurt they just forgive him and somehow fall for him in the case of the girls. This anime would have improved so much more if they had a Revy in this show who would just call out the bull shit and actually put him in his place rather than consistently giving him the benefit of the doubt and another chance.
it needs a big remake fr or at least a new arc that can make everything that went wrong back into place. i still think the story has big potential, even more after guren’s backstory with catastrophe at 16 and resurrection at 19 light novels. just a little twist, just SOMETHING for it to make it better

From a person who actually loved the first season to immediatly hate it the next season here is my non-constructive(cause i'm a simple minded peson) opinion. Also i have only watched the anime and it's my hate for the show which brings me here to get other people point of view on the manga and I don't mind get spoiled cause and don't care aymore honestly.
So first of all the :
- The Mc is DUMB like really dumb, there was so many times that i litterally wants to throw my pc out of the window cause of him. I kinda his mental state thing and his obsession with the concept of family but oh God that A LOT of bad things that happens to them could be avoided with just little bit of judgement on the situation(like even a 10year old could comes up with better reasoning at this point)
- And also feel like the author loved his vampires too much like ok I get It hooman made an horrible things but it was actually only a few of them ! And the whole anime is actually showing us human in miserable state dominated by vampires all the times. My problem is not a single times those guy(vampires) loses in the show ! They are always portrayed like the humanity punition for messing up with gods. When one of the main cast got a power up or sacrifices himself to get a new power wich could give a glimpse of victory over them it ALWAYS end up on Him being crushed or just stopped and the vampires being arrogant over and over. Why is Humanity the only one to be punished ?!! Why the vampires don't just dominates the whole humanity if they are so strong ? like in attack on titan for example where humanity is also way weaker than titan there is still a way to fight which brings hope and makes me wants to follow the show. here it's just " hey do you see this it's a power we sacrfices a lot of our people to save hooman from vampires and then a whole squad end up being crushed by a sinle noble and his two maids"
- Also the 2nd season feel rushed and i feel nothing in the last fight scenes. It was total emptiness a that point to me

The only reason I'm still reading the manga is for Ferid. He is my favourite character and right now the only one that I still care about.
He's kinda like Guren in a way that his plan is probably nothing good and he's also constantly using the people around him+possibly pulling the strings. But what I like about him is that the story never tried to make him look like the good guy. He's been the bad guy from day one and continues to being a villain without the author trying to guilt trip readers/other characters with sad back stories. Right now i just want to see what Ferid is planning on doing and what he can achieve. I don't even mind if he dies. I just want him to continue being the interesting character that he is.

mika and shinya are the only interesting characters left in the manga, and maybe ferid with current storyline in the manga. but other than that, the storytelling has been going downhill for the past 40 chapters. its so sad to see so many characters and plotlines get pushed to the side or overdone or just destroyed with horrible writing.
