  • This week we are at Alvor, which we absolutely fell in love with. Not only does this town on the Algarve in Portugal have a dog friendly beach but also many bars and restaurants.
Each day we walked the dogs along the boardwalk to the stunning golden sandy beach. Unfortunately the waves were ‘too’ large for the dogs to paddle as they were frightened of the waves but they did enjoy getting to the beach.
After the walk and play on the beach we walked back and relaxed with a drink along the front over looking the small harbour.
As we had parked under the trees on the site and the motorhome not being warm we left the dogs and went exploring on our bikes.
We cannot overstate how stunning the scenery, beaches and cliffs are. Just amazing. In the evening we would frequent one of the many bars and restaurants. Was truly feeling like a holiday.
But as our bank balance was depleting with the meals out it was time to move further west towards Albuferia.
We stayed in a lovely aire which was ran by Yan who we think must be the happiest Chappy on planet earth. It has its own swimming pool, games room and table tennis.
We cycled the first day to the beach for the dogs to play on (which again the dogs didn’t fancy a dip in the sea as the waves were too large). The second day we cycled with the dogs to Albuferia. Unfortunately I had a crash on the bike and injured my knee although thankfully Xena who I was towing in the trailer behind the bike was not hurt (the trailer remained upright and thankfully due to the suspension Xena was not hurt at all).
I could rest up at the site and recoup, Dave could walk the dogs and we had plenty to keep me amused.

Lagos is really wonderful actually! We stayed there in 2023 and had the most wonderful time, beautiful beaches and cliffs and boardwalks. We like the quiet but with some options for amenities too, just in case you ever go back I’d recommend giving Lagos a try.

Looks super! Poor you Tiff, you’re one for accidents. Did you book these sites in advance or just rock up? Thanks for the video.

      Yep I am a cluts!
We didn’t book and just turned up and luckily got on both sites
Arrived at Alvor between11-12 so there were spaces.
In parque de gala we were very lucky as we managed to get the last one and after that they were being redirected to another site somewhere

Alvor is somewhere we want to try, it looked like quite the trek to the beach from the town? About how long of a walk to get to that nice sandy beach would you say?

We headed for the quieter side due to taking the dogs which probably took about 15-20 mins but you could cut to the lovely big beach much earlier so maybe 10-15 mins max
We thoroughly loved Alvor and is one of our favourites- vibrant small town so quiet but with plenty of restaurants etc to enjoy
