    Had to catch up on the grain storage relocation, due to being side tracked with my own stuff here in the UK, but have now caught up on the videos.
    Fantastic content, glad you've had such a good deal on this stuff, and so glad I follow your channel, never had anything to do with farming apart from helping moving a herd of cattle on a farm for a friend a few years ago, I'm a retired Paramedic, and ex-HGV (CDL?), so totally unrelated occupation, wish you well with your farm and future projects, and glad to see you've got such a good partner looking after your interests back at Home Farm, she's a keeper by the looks, beautiful young women full of knowledge and experience, you are blessed mate.
    You have a really good future ahead of you.

    I would add a few more ventilators to bin roofs when they go back up. The existing ones also seem too close to the eave IMO. Older bins always seem to not have enough ventilators.

    Chris, my thoughts on leg versus that would be to save the time and expense buy a back and then you don't have the hassle of crawling to the top of the leg if you have something break I like you do not prefer hi work. Evac would eliminate that other than roof work when it eventually shows up

      When you think about it each bin broken down is a pallet of roof pannels maybe 2 or 3 pallets of side pannels and a pallet of flooring. So about 5 pallets per big bin and maybe 4 pallets for the smaller bins...then theres all the tubing for moving grain around plus the leg.
      Leg is at least one load on its own. All the pallets probably at least 2 loads ans a load of all the tubing.

  • @rogerfrank1256
    @rogerfrank1256 3 дня назад

    I realize that your done now but wouldn't the crane at $219.00 an hour been cheaper to take the bins down? You had enough guys to zip apart pretty fast and wouldn't have wasted the time moving jacks. Just wondering

  • @Rcod2013
    @Rcod2013 6 дней назад +19

    Hi from chris. My one comment/ suggestion is that all those moving / wearing parts at the top of the leg, you replace them all with top quality new while the leg is on the ground so that it will be many years before someone has to go up to fix a breakdown. That's what I'd do anyway

Can’t wait till we see it going back up will be very interesting to see it handle its first load of corn! Looks like to me you’re going to have 6 semi loads for sure if not more. Maybe Isiah will come for a couple loads also that would help. Might be an idea to get someone to tender it out as well. Plus he has a load of just tubing for all the bins. Then like 15 or more over sized pallets with the bin pannels thats probably another 2 to 3 loads because they are oddly shaped.

      End of the day it's about bottom dollar. Get it on the ground, and rent a cheaper machine to load out when ready.
      At 10k/ day for a crane, hiring another truck, it's only money right?
      Land it on the ground, get things down. Rent a cheaper machine (like the telehandler) to load out at your leisure. Rather then rush, or spend unneeded overhead for one load.
      Things could be done 100 different ways, absolutely. Unfortunately some people have different constraints then just writing cheque's.

      That's not the point the point is when you're growing 100 acres of corn and 100 acres of soybeans you don't need this setup. What would you need it for. Beans in his s area of New York will average about 45-50 bushel an acre so there is 4500-5000 bushels of beans he'll get next fall if he has a bumper crop he'll get 5500. And 100 acres of corn is going to give him about 18 or 19,000 bushels of corn to store. And there's no damn way that when you're as cash tight as he is that he can afford to store all his grain at harvest anyway so some of it's going to move down the road at harvest Time. He basically needed to find a couple more 5000 bushel bins to go with the 4000 bushel bend that he already got for free get them erected fill them with augers buy an old used grain vac to empty them with and he was good to go for 3-5 years.

      @@Otherrandomguy42 why do you care so much about what someone else does with their money and time? If he wants to go big that's fine. If he wants to go small then that's fine too. Not your monkey, not your circus so I'm not sure why you have to say this on every video.

      @Otherrandomguy42 he said that there's not much storage in his area so he could possibly rent space to other people

      @@Nick-tz2vlwell for starters because he's stubborn and pig-headed and won't take advice he should start to learn soon that just because something's cheap doesn't make it a good deal. He freaking literally had to piece together the Kenworth a little bit at a time because and in his words he didn't have the cash flow to pay the guy to do the work of what he told us was a $12,000 motor job. So if he had to take a year to cash flow that one out where the fuck is he going to get 60 or 70 or 80 grand to put this all back together. Lmao I'm rooting for the guy but he literally keeps shooting himself in the foot.

    Legs have a lot of maintenance and the climbing gets old painting is expensive. With grain vac the power source is on the ground and you can disconnect when not using and store under roof. Sell leg and the bins are paid for.when you age you will be glad you don't have to climb. Less maintenance
