- "Arena" - A Genius Like Us: A Portrait of Joe Orton. Directed by Pamela Brighton and Nigel Williams.
... Originally broadcast on 9 November 1982, on BBC 2.
... Portrait of playwright Joe Orton, murdered by his lover Kenneth Halliwell at the peak of his career in 1967.
... Posted the whole documentary, by request. ;-)
... In 8 parts, unfortunately.
Kenneth Williams is a joy to listen to in his interviews. His cadences and his diction and his wealth of impersonations are such fun. I've never seen a "Carry On" movie, but even so I can enjoy William's genius and his humanity just from his interviews.
God bless Joe Orton. 👍
totally agree!
What were the positive qualities of Kenneth Halliwell? He seems like an intelligent, needy, unhappy person. Joe Orton does not seem like a nice person, either ... But I loved his plays before I ever read about his death, and I have not read anything by Kevin Halliwell. Is there anything of his published?
Have you actually read what John Lahr has read about Orton and Halliwell?
Who you asking?
look at those 2 queens 04:20
....... What a PATHETIC assumption to make! 🤔🥱
shame about the Bagpuss music when he opens the curtains
