My dear friend Alex Quilter, who has now sadly passed away, was related to the composer Roger Quilter. How I wish I could send him this. He would have absolutely loved it. And....he was a church organist! A real one 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you so much. ❤️ He was a proper eccentric character with a very strange sense of humour....this would have been right up his alley! Ooh matron! My ears pricked up at the mention of Roger Quilter. Alex had some of Roger Quilter's sheet music at home and used to play them to me on the piano. Happy days. 😊
This is so stupid and I think KW would have adored it. Made with such love and clear understanding of his humor, which I don't think most people really got when he was alive
I'd have thought Kenneth's playing of the pink oboe was better known. His handling of various organs is something he was rather shy about, though his mouth organ skills were mentioned by friends like Charles Hawtrey who also dabbled.
@@grunkert Yes, right at the beginning, Michael Berry states that it was recorded in 1982, if you check the log book at Winchester Cathedral both of them were there that day
@@TheToughBaby yep I've done my research. Everything checks out. I mean who didn't know Kenneth's favourite film was The Hangover 2. I thought that was common knowledge.

Thats's incredibly cool. I'm so sorry for your loss.

@EmmaPeacock-cc9fl Wow that sounded like an amazing lark 😀. Thank you for sharing this!.
@grunkert It really was....you're welcome and thank you so much for your interest. 😊
Thank you so much for pinning my comment. I am honoured and so would Alex have been ❤️
Kenny would have loved this...then written about how much he hated it in his diary.

Came for Matt Berry, stayed for Kenneth Williams
When legends meet.
Berry is a genius.
I could see that rendition of “Now sleeps the evening petal,” working as fighter's walk in music.
Man o man, it strikes fear into the soul !!!
Absolutely delightful. ♥️😁😁😂😂😂🤣😂😂😂😃😃😃And scarey!
Gotta work out those duff notes though
I'd almost forgotten this!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's "now sleeps the crimson petal" silly
@@grunkert genius of the highest order! ♥️♥️♥️🍀🍀👍👍👍
Sweet mewling lord baby jesus in heaven I thought the anticipation for the Simon Callow interview was a rush.. but.. Kenneth.. Williams..
genius mashup

Well you make some excellent points there
Are you one of the vampires on What We Do in the Shadows? This has got to be a total put-on. Loved... it. Thanks.
I thought this was real for the first minute.
Go little bird and tell them I'm lonely 😢
This nearly gave me the ab dabs.
Matt was 10 years old when he did this interview…🙄🤦♂️
He was ahead of his time for sure
His balls dropped early.
Oh, yeeeeeees.
OH, WELL...
James Hurn is the impersonator I believe. A ruddy good one.
Matt Berry was born in 1974. Do the maths 🤔
Its all good fun 😁
@user-tc6jf8fd9d it's not an impersonator. Matt took clips of Kenneth from desert island disc's and edited them into this bizarre interview 😄
Matt was born in 64. So it adds up
@charabotte1 oh yeah i forgot.. uhh. This is completely real 😀
Brilliant
One of the funniest things Matt Berry has ever done IMO :)
@@grunkert 🤣🤣 he is my fave person in the world lol
The meeting of two eras of pure comedy genius... Great stuff!
Lol haven't heard this before
Me either and im always looking for more Matt Berry stuff lol
Is it Now sleeps the crimson petal or Now sleeps the evening petal?
That’s a secret😊
What a cheek! Matron! Take him away ...
A spoof. Kenneth Williams did NOT play the organ nor would he have been “at home” at that venue! Compare his appearance on Desert Island discs....
Pretty sure it's real, check your facts
This is definitely real

I saw a Bach recital back in the 1970's at Winchester Cathedral given by Kenneth Williams. Fact.
🫡🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
👏👏👏
Ah yes winchester
@paulmcgrath3248 yes indeed
a good kenneth williams impersonator methinks...
Completely missed the point.
No that is the real Kenneth Wilson, this is an authentic interview from BBC Archives
