    as a guy with around 250 bottles in my collection, a few points: creed sucks. it is watered down now and weakened in quality, with a price increase. its ridiculous. so, instead of even mont blanc (pronounced mon blonk), get Armaf "club de nuit intense man". it'll run you maybe $35 and is easily almost identical to the $375 creed aventus. same scent, 1/10th the price. just as good as explorer. now, you are missing some seriously great frags. firstly, skip sauvage edt,edp,and parfum. the one you want is elixir. while under the sauvage banner, it smells nothing like them. it is a masterpiece, more gentlemanly than the "younger leaning" sauvage. truist me, elixir is going to become an all-time classic. get it. for the blue genre of frags, like dylan blue, the number one is bleu de chanel. thats a must-buy. dylan blue pales in comparison to it. you also need terre d'hermes. it is a brilliant orange and woods (vetiver) type fragrance. jean-paul gaultier is what you want for date night, the le male flanker, le parfum. for tom ford, you want ombre leather.
    (try smelling vintage suede body wash, by cremo. it's identical). for pure class and sophistication, you want bottega veneta pour homme. all these are must-owns, and if you up your fragrance game by getting these, you will be amazed at what you have been missing out on. trust me, i know my shit when it comes to fragrances. these are fantastic scents, for a slightly older demographic than teens wearing scents to go clubbing.

      Absolutely! Great advice.
      Natural fibers is important as well. Something the oils can be absorbed into as opposed to sit on is key. Even a 50/50 cotton blend will work.

      Overspraying won’t improve the sillage, but just intensify the immediate smell. That’s not a great solution.
      Think of it this way: why would any one molecule of a scent last longer just bc it’s accompanied with another molecule of equal sillage? It doesn’t. But it could make you intolerable for the first hour or so.

    • @russellborrego1689
      @russellborrego1689 2 года назад

      @@joer8273 agreed. But i believe sillage wasnt really the topic tho. At least that's not how I took it.
      When I see "performance" I think more like longevity. I've never really ever said to myself "Man, I wish this St Bart's had better sillage" but I have wished it didn't die down so incredibly fast.

      fyi...ocean is a good "blue genre" fragrance, but smells nothing like it's name. before spending money on it, as it lasts 10 minutes and disappears quickly, get bleu de chanel instead, or dylan blue, or a cheapie like ferragamo intense leather, they are superior blue genre frags to ocean and last way longer.

The 2nd cologne is "Declaration Cartier Men Eau de Parfum 3.4 Spray" I tend to use this one on special occasions. Lastly, recently a colleague of mine went to my native country of Madrid, Spain, & purchased the cologne of actor Antonio Banderas, because he thought since I'm from Spain & so is Antonio I would like it, called "King of Seduction" I haven't worn it yet.

I'm not allowed to wear a cologne at work and rarely go to social events, so I like to wear something to the gym that is not over powering. Hi John,
    Nice collection you got there. As a fragrance enthusiast I gotta a question dough. Do you really get only 3 to 5 hour wear with Versace Dylan Blue and Montblanc Explorer?? In general those are 7 to 9 hour scents for most people. Maybe it's a skin chemistry thing with you or you don't spray enough. I get at least 8 hours with those 2 with an average of 5 to 8 sprays. 2 on each side of the neck behind the ears and 2 at the back of the neck and a half spray below the earlobes.
    Your story on TF Tabacco Vanille made me laugh.. In general TF TV is nuclear 😂. 1 to 2 sprays max is enough.
    As for Versace Eros, if you really like it maybe sample the EDP or the Parfum version. Those have the same DNA as the EDT with a twist but they're more mature, more refined and balanced.
    And there are a lot of alternatives for Creed Aventus for less money and better performance.
    Keep up the good work John.👌🏼
    Have a great weekend 🙏🏼

    • @40OverFashion
      @40OverFashion  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for the tip! I usually do three sprays. Both sides of the neck at pulse points and the back of the neck. Maybe with those I need to go a little heavier. I test by spraying the back of my left hand and keep checking it throughout the day. After a couple hours, those are both gone.

    • @mauz_aka_chico4790
      @mauz_aka_chico4790 2 года назад

      No trouble at all 😇. When you go a bit heavier and it doesn't give you the result you'd expect ( it will be Skin chemistry related) , there's always ISO E super together with ambroxan ( or separate) on top of the fragrance you're wearing. It should give a performance boost. ISO E super should boost the longevity and ambroxan the projection... 💪🏼
      Much love from Maurice 👋

      Fair comment!
      With those you don't need to go that heavy off course. Those are beasts. Average strength fragrances I'd spray 5 to 8. But in my collection I got a few beast mode fragrances myself and I don't go heavy on the trigger. And I also keep in mind where I'm going, in what setting I mean. With the experience I have collected over the years I never got complaints. Oh wait, only 1 time.. I wore Azarro Wanted by Night in the car on a 90 minute trip 🤭🙈
      And keep in mind that my skin chemistry is different than others.

But i don't wear it as often because i'm unwilling to wait for literally 2 hours for the dry down and endure the peppery. I'd rather spray a fresh scent and endure a more pleasant opening. I now find myself smelling the atomizer of Moustache EVERY TIME i go to my dresser. But i wear something else.
