Very eye opening video. Great work all around by these officers. I hope they get the funding that they need. Kudos from BC.

They really embrace the job, real professionals. It's too bad they are so overworked.

Rama Police officer Cst. Evan Gorman seriously assaulted me and hospitalized while detained and nothing is being done about it

They need more support..from the federal government

It's sad because when there are issues with suport because of lack of funding or corruption at some level these people who had no hand in that have to suffer.

My father was police naps officer for 31 years. Tell his back gave up on him. He had passed away last summer. Last thing he told me was I love you. Told him it was okay because he wasn’t really talking much anymore and I knew he missed my mother a lot. She passed away few years ago. I remember during my child hood my father would leave late at night. Phone always ringing. Even after he retired. He still got calls for up two to three years after he wasn’t even working anymore. He’d be gone three to 6 months a year in his early younger days. And he was already a NAPs officer when I was born. I grow up with one of those naps trucks outside. Growing up also. Belonged to my dad. But was naps property. They also have ski doos/sleds they didn’t show on here. And thou this video is 4 years old. My Father retired around 2010/2012. Between there.

Awesome respect for the indigenous police force. They need a genius first Nation police services contract negotiator so they can provide for the size of that map. This police services contract would become the envy right across the country. This is not a wishful thinking, it could be done.🌹

Thats not efficient use of resources. Policing 2/3 of Ontario?? The OPP's larger resources should be better

OPP would expand if these communities were willing to pay for it, but they wouldnt be willing to pay for it. They chose this model because it is incredibly cheap. OPP officers need to account for every 30 mins of their day. They log every minute spent at every call and bill the appropriate municipality that is responsible for whatever jurisdiction they happened to be policing in. An OPP member may end up billing time to 3 or 4 municipalities in a single day - and it isnt cheap.

the whole concept of duplicating the rcmp model and morphing it into naps makes no sense to me. I hope one day we all see at least a different uniform the peace officers can wear with pride, a uniform that signals "i'm here to help" rather than "I'm here to oppress". We also know that western ideas and methods proved to be disastrous in any other culture other than the white race
We also know, that the white race is a visual race so reporting on issues like this and not following up consistently signals to the readers that it is really not that important.

Its not easy but the first nations chose to have their own police force and get rid of the RCMP for good cause i'm sure. Would have been cheaper to retrain the RCMP or OPP. So live with your decision and make it better. On my visits this is what I 've observed and learned. If you want to self govern then do it dont pretend and thats what I saw. Not all communities but most now are understanding that it is work to self Govern. Get up early not on your time and work at it.
