      Exactly! I don't know what spirit is moving the trend right now for stylists to chop off all the hair and pixie it, even when the client has a full thick mane. We are seeing this over and over and over and over. And I'm over it.

    OMG! I have never seen nor heard of a pressing comb but I really need to go get me one because that would make straightening my hair sooo much easier! For context, I’m a white lady with very curly and very frizzy, dry hair. My curls go all the way to my scalp and the nature of my hair means it pretty resistant to straightening so it takes a few passes of the flat iron to get it straight and smooth. It also means it’s quite difficult to straighten the roots near my scalp and I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve burned myself over the years. A pressing comb is the ideal freakin’ tool, where has that been all my life. No white hair dresser has ever mentioned them or used them so I can only assume my mistake was only ever having had my hair done by white people. Thank you for the is video. I learned some stuff that I think will be really useful in managing my hair.

      Girlfriend, pressing combs/hot combs were the Original straighteners for black women. Back in the day there were no flat irons. You can get a pressing comb at just about any beauty supply store. I think once you try it, you will love it!🤩

    • @VioletDisregard23
      @VioletDisregard23 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@trishmalone5639 I have actually since gone out to shops in my area to look but they don’t stock them. The nearest thing they have are those hot brushes which definitely don’t go anywhere near my roots. I think the problem is that the area I live is very white and there just aren’t any black people. There does seem to be a more diverse range of people moving into the area over the last couple of years though which has been nice to see but the North Shore area of Auckland (New Zealand) is suuuper white so I’m going to have to order my comb online.

    Miss Cecily...I'm a Canadian, first time seeing your platform. I must say, just your whole demeanor, your voice & willingness to share ALL YOUR GOODS with everyone is SIMPLY AMAZING. Wish I lived in Chicago. I'm not a hairdresser BUT enjoy each persons CREATIVITY. I would of went to Dudleys School to learn some of the things you know ( can't beat what your mama taught you though) lolol. Truly enjoyed this segment. Will be watching more of you & learning. I am newly subscribed now. God bless you & THANK YOU...🙏🤎

    I have never subscribed immediately to a hair tutorial on YT. However, I felt this one was going to be a good one. I was saying to myself I wish she was here in the Chicagoland and then you mentioned Dudley, which growing up I definitely heard of and the mini sermon hit home and confirmed exactly why I felt the need to subscribe earlier. I am ready to book my flight from Midway and fly to wherever you are in Texas. May your business and life continue to be blessed!

    That hair is beautiful and healthy! When did you put on a color rinse you were speaking of? I would like to see that applied on her hair.

    I do the same thing with my clients too, I don’t like combing their hair dry. My clients don’t say anything unless I ask them about their scalp. I go the extra mile for them because their hair matters to me and them too

    Absolutely love your work. Where are you located? I know you’re in Houston. I’m trying to get the same thing done to my hair. It’s not quite as long, but I love how compassionate and gentle and how nurturing you are with the hair.

    Doing hair for me started when I was a young girl around 8 or younger. I decided to go to hair school because I bored at home during that time. I never had any ever tell me their scalp feels wet after I use a blow dryer. I can tell for myself if their scalp is wet or not and when to move on to the next section. And I still don’t understand why people use flatirons to make curls.
