I have been on the fence regarding buying youtube premium because I was planning on getting a second account for Japanese, I didn't want to buy it twice but this is a game changer, thanks!
very very great to find this, my sons been watching weird videos with my youtube account and cries all the time theres ads so i have to purchase premium, but after i saw my history youtube it was very diabolical, thank you very much
How many videos should I have in my French seeder? Basically how many should I watch before the algorithm catches on ? I’m getting a ton of English vids
We try to make the "initial seeders" with ~40 videos. But that's also because we know not everyone like the same things. It usually takes a little while to train the algo to show NO English stuff. It helps to click the button and "Do not recommend channel." Then it learns much faster. - Ben
Hi Ben. Im from aotearoa New Zealand. Our language is te reo Māori. Unfortunately all of your recommendations in this video do not have any Māori language settings on youtube. I’m quite keen to get things going at my end…as i will need to be doing it anyway on our language learning journey…any recommendations as to how best i should do this?
Hi! Super cool that you're learning te reo Māori. As far as I know, that's an endangered language with fewer than 100,000 fluent speakers in total. That's NOT very many people. RUclips isn't going to have settings for that. So setting your location to New Zealand and language to English is totally fine. What's more important is finding content in the language, which will likely be very difficult. I'm personally interested in creation of content for smaller languages. And pretty much the only option I see is working with native speakers to create your own content. I've been working a bit on this process on my personal channel, Ben's Language Lab (for English), but I hope to start later this year with a dialect of Nahuatl here in Mexico. There's also a clip from a Q&A stream where I talk about it with Ethan: ruclips.net/video/pjMRif1wuTI/видео.html
It's up to you. RUclips is blocked in Mainland China, so I don't even know what would happen there... You could also set your location to a Mandarin heavy part of the US or Australia or Canada or really any other country. Or if you're interested in the Taiwanese dialect, do that! Hong Kong also has a good number of Mandarin speakers, but yes, you'd probably get a decent amount of Cantonese recommendations.
hola ¿como puedo quitar el idioma de la segunda cuenta que cree para estudiar chino?, me aparece en chino simplificado cuando regreso a mi primera cuenta de RUclips

thensk I go to immersing now..
It's serendipitous (and a bit uncanny) that I'm on Day 4 of the course and you repost this video…
I just use my one account for content in both my native language and the language that I'm learning, and that seems to be working for me as well.
