    Another great video, thank you! I always wonder how much faster an M.2 or nvme drive is than a standard 2.5 inch SSD. The numbers are easy enough to find, but real world experience?

      @@HaisteComputerRepairJust in general, I assume the difference would be similar with this laptop to others as we aren’t measuring performance of laptop but difference in speed between hard drive types. Either in seconds or %

      In real life, NVMe drives like M.2 SSDs can make your computer feel snappier. They boot up faster, transfer big files quicker, and launch apps speedily. If you do a lot of gaming or work with big files, you'll especially notice the difference. But for everyday stuff like browsing or emails, the gap might not be as obvious. So, if you want that extra boost in performance for demanding tasks, NVMe is the way to go!

      @@sibrend2820 thank you. Does it still improve say my gaming experience if I have my operating system on a small but modern drive like that, but the actual games on an older one using sata? Say even an HDD? Or would it be the same because of the bottleneck of the older drive so the faster one wont matter?

    Hi
    I plan to install an M.2 2242 NVME SSD in the WWAN slot of my Lenovo ThinkPad L480 laptop. Could you please confirm if the existing BIOS will provide an option to boot the Windows 10 OS from this NVME drive after installation?

  • @vijinho
    @vijinho 2 месяца назад

    Bought one i5 8350 version a few days ago, makes a great Hackintosh with Open Core . Unfortunately MacOS won't read the NVME drive in the 2.5 bay, but I installed a WD SN520 NVME in the WWAN PCIe Slot so it's basically an improvement on a 13 inch 2016 MacBook Pro i7 I have with the extra ports, nicer keyboard, although speakers are no match. I didn't remove the WWAN card for it so far, just stacked it disconnected over the NVME, maybe it works as a heatsink... Wondering if I can install a SATA as additional storage.

      @@HaisteComputerRepair Yeah it's great everything works, day 2 and I got the internal nvme working too so super-pleased. Going to triple boot with Windows, Linux. A shame they cut down the upgrade features on later models. Not sure which wifi 6 card can be used now...

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  2 месяца назад +1

      @@vijinho Yes, the best features of upgrades are becoming less available. But not with every device, there are some that still look interesting to tinker with.

      @@HaisteComputerRepair Update - installed a cheap Intel AX210 NGF to replace the 9265 wifi/bluetooth, no problems with all OSs. Also got some red silicone plugs for the ports. Those very cheap off AliExpress, and also 2 x 16GB DDR4-2400 off eBay. I did try a cheap SATA connector cable but it didn't work (tried to use both NVME and SATA in the 2.5 disk bay). The whole thing was about $200 all-in-all so unbeatable value.

    can you do some video editing(at least 1080P) ,publish results in a video please?

    • @HaisteComputerRepair
      @HaisteComputerRepair  10 дней назад

      I would love to, but I am not able to as I only had one of these laptops. Depending on what software you use, you should be fine with light editing in 1080p. If the newest version of DaVinci Resolve doesn't work, an older version will. Or I'm sure there are a number of simple options if you just need to split videos and add audio.

      @@2DAnimax To be fair, you need to be much more specific with what you want to use/do on the laptop. Specific software. Just cutting together raw 1080p footage or do you need to add effects? Details that are needed in order to properly give advice. Otherwise you will get more of a generic response as I (or someone else) would need to start asking you questions for details you should provide first.

      @@HaisteComputerRepair I'm waiting too, I found a p52 in the market and not far from my house, it took about 45 minutes to get to the location, but I'm still hesitant to buy the p52, the specifications are xeon with quadro p2000, 4k touchscreen for around $ 680 dollars, if I saw your review, maybe I can convince myself to buy it or not for 2024, but I heard on the internet that the P52 has a problem with the fan/thermal, is that true? and what problems did you experience while using this p52?

      @@user-bk7yw9te7wWhen my fan ramps up, I can hear it rumble around a little bit intermittently. But I wouldn't consider that a problem outside of the one I have in particular. Thermals have been perfectly fine, though I did take it apart and apply new thermal paste. When I do the video I will show this process. I have no problems, I am quite pleased with it. I have a 1920x1080 display panel, so having a 4K touchscreen would be a novelty. Is that $680 USD or CAD?
