In terms of visuals, Ghost is the obvious winner. Ronin looks decent, but it doesn't compare to the gorgeous colours you're bathed in while playing Ghost, really making you drink in the environment. It's a lot more memorable as a result. In terms of gameplay I can't really say much, since I haven't played Ronin, but with the animations it's clear their goals are different. Ronin is meant to be fast, flashy and exaggerated. Ghost is meant to be slower, more deliberate and flowing. All comes down to what you prefer.
I agree I just played ghosts of Tsushima a couple months ago and it looks perfect! You would think it just came out. The sunsets are the best in any game I have ever played with the way the colors and rays of light beam on the landscape and shadow! Perfection

Ghost Of Tsushima is more polished up, pampered both visually and sonically. Rise Of The Ronin looks like a game that has great potential, but it was released too quickly and the developers could have thought about a lot of things. I'm not saying it's bad, but my personal opinion is GOT has this more than Rise.
Got is very good game, but The game is not a masterpiece. It got low reviews. And it's below 90 on metacritc. Masterpiece means games like god of war 2018 and last of us part 1.

Watching RotR just makes me want to play Nioh (2). Imo GoT is the ultimate Samurai game. I will pick up RotR but will wait for a sale because I have to much in my backlog as is so I won't get around to it anytime soon anyways. GoT can be such a relaxing game at times, I love it! Just upgraded to the PS5 version a week ago and was hesitant at first but man was it worth!
I have played 100% of ghost of tsushima and all dlc. I'm in the middle of playing rise of the ronin. The combat in rise of the ronin is on point but ghost of tsushima is better in every way. The combat in ghost of tsushima was is amazing the world is amazing the story telling Is amazing and just better in every way. I still like rise of the ronin though. But like the one guy said ghost of tsushima holds a very special place in my heart!

Played both games, at many parts I got tired of GOT gameplay but never came a time I got tired of Ronins gameplay, the gameplay showcased here is not even the surface level because in later game you unlock 2 more stances per wep which makes 3 in total along with special skills

Thanks for posting this! I will say it's clear to me that Ghost is a much more cinematic treat and isn't as "Insta-jerky" . If I want to play a game with God of War style killing actions I'll play God of War. LOL Ghost all the way. Plus I really think the musket reload is "cringe". Too easy.

GoT had that cinematic, almost bushido blade like combat. I love ninja Gaiden and NG2 on Xbox & 360. I even put almost 1k hours into nioh 2, but Sucker Punch really knocked it out of the park with GoT combat. Not that I didn't have issues with it. If the combat didn't do it for me, nothing else in that game would have. The world was really well crafted. Very beautiful. But I don't play games cause they're pretty.

Got to say Ronin's combat looks a lot more robust than Ghost's, and the ragdoll physics and gore give much needed visual variety to the combat that Ghost lacked. Ghost still has the most beautiful open world ever though and Ronin isnt anywhere close to it.

The way Ronin sheathes his wakizashi would dull it in an afternoon but is very satisfying. Great little animation and audio cue. Ronin has some beautiful artistic composition that's unfortunately isn't fully realized by the tech and production quality. But damn, whenever I see Tsushima again I'm speechless.
In terms of gameplay, Ronin is superior with weapon choices, character creation and its companion system. Ghost of Tsushima though, is way better in graphics quality, seamless combat and exploration. I can say that Ghost of Tsushima is still the greatest samurai video game of all time due to its landscaping and focused story but Rise of Ronin is not bad either. I would gladly paly either of them.

Even the combat, which I know is far more complex than got doesnt flow ver well like nioh or elden ring or sekiro. In the end good graphics with immersive open world and enjoyable gameplay always takes the cake.
Eh! I think one should also factor in niche creation/fulfillment, and how it lets a studio focus on something specific. The new Splinter Cell remake will maybe come out 2025/26 and I doubt it‘ll be better than Chaos Theory as an example. Or compare Arkham Knights perception with the perception of the first two games. I mean: Maybe with the story pacing you find the first two more immersive and the gameplay is more balanced, but for the actual three things you mentioned are far more present in Knight, yet the first two are still more remembered.
@@NieNin427 I have not played any splinter cell game so probably I would not be able say anything, but for arkham You are correct that the first two games are much more memorable, but also do consider the fact that the pressure that Arkham knight had for giving a similar immersiveness and still bringing something completely new to the table was more. I'll give you an example using spiderman ps4. I played when it launched in 2018 and it felt amazing clearing the campaign, as the side missions are cr@p. But I started playing miles Morales a few years after and to be honest, I cannot believe that even though being the exact same game as Spiderman 2018 which is it's flaw by the way, it felt so boring, but I was still Spiderman a better one maybe, but I couldn't bring myself to play it anymore. The point is there is a first time for everything, it doesn't feel the same way the next time, even if it's better than the previous one, which is unfortunately not true with Arkham knight. Still at the same time nobody can deny that Arkham knight is a good game, or it's an upgrade to the previous games.

The other day PS5 fanboys were bragging about PS5 having better graphics than PS4 (because of Ronin), then the game is released and we see it's (graphically) inferior to GoT on PS4. It's not a bad game, just looks subpar and kind of generic for a "next-gen" game.

It's kinda disappointing when you look at it, ps2, xbox, xbox 360, ps3, ps4, Xbox one was a far gap graphically and gameplay wise from their previous generations but most ps5 games still don't look good and play better that their previous generations even when it's exclusive just to the PS5. Red Dead redemption 2, Crisis, Ghost of tsushima, Batman Arkham Knights, and many more games still looks better than this. I would understand if they look similarly good to the lowest best graphically game of the last generation but how is the previous generation lowest best graphically game still looks better graphically than a current generation game and most of those games came out so long ago. Well people like me can forgive any game with good gameplay unless the story is too unbearable to take. Well guess it seem we have come along way graphically wise so they are mostly forcusing on less load time or no loading time and better frame rate, I hope that's their plan if they are no longer increasing graphics for video games rapidly.

Gorgeous GOT is PS4, the other trash is PS5 XD
Combat wise rise imo has the better combat but everything else is ghost.
It's kinda disappointing when you look at it, ps2, xbox, xbox 360, ps3, ps4, Xbox one was a far gap graphically and gameplay wise from their previous generations but most ps5 games still don't look good and play better that their previous generations even when it's exclusive just to the PS5. Red Dead redemption 2, Crisis, Ghost of tsushima, Batman Arkham Knights, and many more games still looks better than this. I would understand if they look similarly good to the lowest best graphically game of the last generation but how is the previous generation lowest best graphically game still looks better graphically than a current generation game and most of those games came out so long ago. Well people like me can forgive any game with good gameplay unless the story is too unbearable to take. Well guess it seem we have come along way graphically wise so they are mostly forcusing on less load time or no loading time and better frame rate, I hope that's their plan if they are no longer increasing graphics for video games rapidly.
I have both and love both, but got is 10 times better
The only game better than Tsushima will be Tsushima 2
