50 Fish in one week: Black Lake Day 2 - The hunt for fish.

- After a little bit of time I was able to find bass on my first day of this week long challenge to catch 50 fish in a week. I had been catching them on top water around isolated rocks out in the main water. I was chased off the water by a sudden summer storm. Will that pattern hold?

Awesome introduction! You really were agile and bounced around and truly patient. Looked like one of those 6 hour days before you finally get a Musky bite. But you prevailed starting with #14. 🎣💥👍
It was a struggle to stay focused. I knew there was a lot of lake left to explore, but all my spots turned completely off. That may be a sign of how this lake can be,
Awesome lake and good to be out and fish for awhile and landed a few beauties, enjoyed the trip with you, thanks, thumbs up and greetings from NZ,, Tony.
Thank you, Tony.
beautiful fishing friend and you are in a wonderful place greetings
Thank you very much!
Fun to see the sat view of where you were. Looked like you were fishing in a great spot. It took a bit for the fish to cooperate with you though. Glad you landed some fatties for all your efforts. It was a slower day for you but I'm sure you will prevail! Nice job. Have a great day.
Thanks. A little humble pie is good for the soul. It showed me that I will have to earn it on this trip.
Amazing fishing ❤ so cool 😊 Wish you a happy weekend
Thank you! You too!
Hello my friend, that was another exciting video. So many fish in one day is quite an achievement. I really like the area you are always in. It is always very beautiful there. It was fun to accompany you again, my friend. Best wishes Alex :)
Danke, Alex! Have a great weekend. I hope you are outside.
Hello Dug and congrats for another great fishing vídeo my brother. The weather was bad for fishing but as a true bass master you found a way and still caught some beautiful fish. Have a great weekend and good fishing my brother 💯🎣🎣💯
Thank you for your words of encouragement. Long days where nothing happened can be tough, especially on a trip with a finish line like this one.
@@DpuckFishingandOutdoors i know brother but you are still catching beautiful fish. My last 4 or 5 carp Adventures ended with zero🤣🤣. Keep casting my brother 💯🎣💯
@@jp-pesca We all have those days where we are humbled, so that the days we are blessed feel even better.
@@DpuckFishingandOutdoors absolutely true💯💯
Cool lake. Look forward to the next video
Thanks 👍
It's a nice touch showing where you are on the lake. I like it. Tough start to the day too!
Can't give away the best spots though. LOL
Great video Dug! Hopefully the weather is better next time...God Bless.
I have been dodging the big storms for two days. Eventually they will find me.
Tough grind! The secret is to Never Give Up!!
Bass 15 should count for 2!!!
You will bounce back, you still got plenty of time!! Great video my friend!
That was a humbling morning. Wasn't skunked but well off pace from what I had done the day before, and doing essentially the same thing.
Awesome lake and great video. Nice 1st bass.
Thanks 👍 I needed that fish.
Great 🎉 my Friend 👏
Merci!
Big boat upgrade for this challenge. Aren't you usually in a john boat? The fish at 8:00 was a tank! The grind pays off.
Yeah I would be in trouble in a small Jon boat on this lake. It would be a 10 fish challenge. I have been ready to buy a bass boat of my own, and looked as this as an opportunity to gauge how well I could operate it.
Great video Mr Puck. 👍😎
Thank you!
Pumpkinseed is hard to beat. Love green pumpkin, too! NICE VIDEO!! TIGHT LINES!!
Thanks.
Slow start but you found them and were on them. Great job 🙌.
Never give up.
Have to love those pumpkin seeds, they’re fricken aggressive!! Awesome video as always Doug! It’s surely been a struggle by me! You got some nice ones on brother! Beautiful editing and work on this video, it looked great!!!
They are, and they are plentiful. It can be hard to work smaller baits in the lake because I spend more time unhooking them then I do presenting the bait to a bass that would count. I appreciate all the support, dude. July is tough from the bank.
Dug, that intro was lit. What a fun challenge video. Your edits were on point. Got some really nice fish there! There was a ton of action and a really captivating video. Loved it, bro!
I am glad you enjoyed it, DC!
That is a heck of a lake! You are killing it out there!
Thanks
Pumpkin seed breaks the skunk. Always appreciated.
It felt good to be able to touch a fish at that point.
Bit of a grind, but you were able to figure a little something out and get on a few! That 3.6 looked like some of my Clear Lake chunks.
Yeah I was so convinced it was bigger I got the shakes. Even so, I needed a big fish to re-juice up the nards.
Nice come back after a slow start! That 3.6 was a beauty! The weather can just mess up a bite but once you figure out what they want its game on. I've been on the receiving end of humble pie numerous times lol. Get back up and go hard the next time. Great video D!
It was the same pattern, isolated rock in large open flat, but just a new rock. The other rocks produced nothing. After a few fish and a short break it was over. No bites. Its like this lake doesn't reload.
Way to figure it out and salvage the day. Congrats on that nice bass. Catch you on the next one. Come fish the Delta - steady nards kicking lmao!!!!
I would love to. Got to work on my flipping skills first.
8:20 was a nice freaking toad. Great job. 👍👍👍
Yeah she turned my mood right around. I thought she was bigger. Thanks for watching!
Fishing in this heat is tough and you are doing better than most of us. Can’t wait for day 3!
Well, that's why I go so far north in the summer. Its a lot cooler. There are plenty of days where I need a long sleeve hoodie.
Tough start, but you managed to catch a few later in the day. Keep at it buddy! You'll get em
Thanks, Joe!
Your editing on the intro is super cool. You're grinding towards the goal, man.
Thank you! A few people have liked it.
Look at all the camera angle you have, you sure have passion in video making, great video
Thank you! Having multiple cameras was an editing game changer. I appreciate you checking out my channel. I really dig your content.
Crushed it out there, that one at the 8 min mark was a real tank!!👊💪
I had to put in the work on day 2.
wow...first 3 1/2 hours was tough. You'd think with that overcast it would of helped you out. Beautiful 8:00 bass Dug! great to see you stated to get in a grove . Funny you say that about the time it was and the time you thought it was. I use to go to Canada every year. We top water fished to almost 10pm because it stayed lighter up there later. Running a bit shallow there at the end I see 😂 Good stuff as always brother!
You are right, the conditions for the morning were pretty close to the day before, I was fishing those spots and nothing. I must have picked all the berries off the bush there.
That rock swam outta no where. Thanks for watching, Chris!
love the idea of the challenge!
Try it out!
Great video. Crazy how fish sometimes just switch on and then off and then on again. Keep it up you'll reach your goal with your determination.
Its hard not to be convinced it was something I was doing wrong rather than the lake.
I love your intro, as always!
Thank you!
Awesome intro. It took a while to find them, but then got pretty good. Hopefully the rain holds out for you.
Eventually it finds me. 😣
Cracking video. Intro is insane!
Thanks, Bud! You would love some of the fish I saw here.
Great video. Not as many fish as the first day but you got quality and variety. 👍
On the next one I do make an effort to target walleye.
Great video brother! I will be on the water in the yak tomorrow, might film it but not sure. Hope I get into them.
Good luck!
You gave it a good try Dug. Always tomorrow. Sure makes me nostalgic for New York.
I have a few days left, but the week goes by fast. Thanks for watching!
Loving the nice boat! Game changer
It was so much fun to finally be on a real boat. Without it, on this lake, it would be a 5 fish challenge.
The summer grind is reel man, you managed to turn what could have been skunk city into numbers for the score board!
Got me worried for a bit. Funny thing that it was the same pattern that worked the day before but didn't work. Isolated rocks out in large flat bays. I just hadn't picked all the berries off the bush there.
Bite picked up late.... That was a good Bass in the beginning
Total opposite of normal. Usually by 11 the bite is dead.
Rest in peace dear popper.
Fish number 15 was LEGIT !
Those little megabass poppers are pricey too! I believe that was a pike. That braid was cut with something as like scissors.
Man I hope you do catch some Walleye, that would be Awesome!! I have never caught one, want too sooo bad man!! Great video, I love all of the bream catcher, man if they are hitting like that it might be a great place to do a panfishing video..🤣🤣..I would count the rock bass too, they are awesome!!👊🏼👊🏼🎣🎣
It is lake that is somewhat famous for pan fishing. They have tournaments. I have never seen bluegill school up in the thousands like herring until that day.
You found a good pattern after the initial sore "nards". A 3.6 is respectable anywhere. The first net you were using is too short and has too small of a basket, that may cost you some fish at some point. I like the looks of that lake.
You are 100% right on the net. That was rectified on day 3.
Pretty good day on the water! You figured 'em out in the end.
It took a bit of trial and error to get there. Thanks for watching!!
Doug the intro is completely amazing 👏👏👏 the weather(thunderstorms)is not good for fishing 😔 take care! But you will do the 50 bass for sure! ✌️😉 and by the way big bass you get there! Cheers mate! 🎣🐟👏💯
I appreciate all your support. Between high winds, the rain, and then no wind at all, this lake is doing what it can to make this one a tough challenge. And it will only get more difficult.
That fish #15 was nice! For a moment, I was afraid toi were going to lose it.
Hey FART! Great to see you back in the states and on the tubes. Thanks for checking it out.
Eff yeh Doug , that top water hook set is epic , need to start hitting um like that myself , lost so many fish on frogs this year
It's all about that pause. Count to three as you get that rod tip pointing toward where the frog vanished, then let her rip.
But... Losing fish is gonna happen with topwater.
Good luck, dude!
8:20 Toad! The alarm went off and they started feeding. Lightning and wind put a damper on any trip. Bummer about the popper.
Being in a metal boat, in the middle of a big lake, during a storm, doesn't sound like a solid plan.
I’d call that a semi successful struggle with some big fish landed. You should be able to count rock bass on days like that
It was a big shift from the previous day. On the water at 6 am and no bass bite until 11:15. Thats a long morning.
ohhh that was a tank
Well, I sure was screeching like a little girl as if it was. 😛
