Runescape has got to have the most snowflake fanbase to ever exist for a video game with all these stupid polls
polling will kill the game as
botters vote in every poll to make the game not change at all
if any drastic change happens cause of a poll they have to re-write scripts
and so they will ALWAYS VOTE NO on everything
jagex should investigate accounts that vote no
IMHO
At least i am not bald and keep the democracy in runescape we don't want some bald tyrant adding mtx and nerfs to the game.
this sponsor is the funniest shit, feels like a joking slight at the playerbase that you're getting paid for
You’re endorsing unlicensed meds on your vids man get a wake up call and use your head
People thinking that you wouldn't be able to use your mouse for dialogue and down voting that poll is peak galaxy brain behaviour
The whole "I suffered, so you have to as well"-mentality is something I'll never understand.
It's like parents telling their kids they had to walk 5 km uphill in knee-deep snow to go to school. Both ways.
@@Oll1000 with 1 foot, because the other foot was starting a buisiness.
especially cuz some of these chuckle fucks have 2 or 3 accounts (usually iron men) working on maxing with the new methods...
That mentality is why it is still hard to keep an untrimmed cape
I love that mentality.
Not so fun fact, people targeted Mod Husky because he jokingly said on stream something along the lines of "I'm happy about this one because it means I won't have to grind Corp on my Iron", leading people to believe he was planning updates for personal convenience lol
people on osrs are still in the mindset they were when they were 12 lol. kinda super funny actually

@@PaladinfffLeeroy maybe someday they will realize there is more to "life"
@@dabillya6845 comes with the fact they play osrs in 2021
I feel like something as minimal as spacebar pressing and using number keys through dialogue wasn't really a necessary thing to poll, especially since it's only optional whether players want to use it or not. It could've easily just been snuck in with an update and nobody would've questioned it. Just would have players like "WOW, what a useful addition to this update! Thanks Jamflex!"
Do you make content? Twitch it up I'd listen
OSRS is at a point now where they should just completely remove polling anyway. Let the creative team have some room to create with having to worry about polling things and not being able to do it!
You can hardly justify these as balance updates.
Really anything that could be considered accessibility changes, like scroll wheel camera, icon resizing or filtering should go through unpolled regardless of whether polls should exist or not.
@@salt3770 Yeah for sure, minor QOL changes should just be obligatory
As a RS3 player it baffles me how much QOL stuff gets polled and fails by margins.
They should should just release basic content and poll only when it has a serious effect on game mechanics.
"Devalues my ability to click" is probably the greatest thing I have ever heard from an osrs player tbh
The old guard OSRS players that quit during EOC are real toxic. Like literally going toe to toe with LoL and R6S players for toxicity.
They WILL Deliberately hamstring their own game to keep it “pure”, then complain that their game rarely gets new content when they spam death threats to Jagex for devalueing their clicking.
The old school community is the worst part of old school lol
@@jak2767 Dude, for real. They like to shit on everything.
Who would've known that the biggest enemy of QoL updates are 30 year old men with too much spare time.
they're script writers for bots
they dont want to have to re-write
its that simple I promise ya.
30 year old men who are old enough to remember wat went wrong not zoomers who are naïve and idealistic and think big brother jagex can save runscape and wont abuse its powers turning runescape into a pay2win modern failure.

@@belstar1128 Imagine spending enough time on OSRS to warp your view of reality to the point where you say things like "Big brother jagex" and develop somesort of veteran complex about playing it back in 2002.
@@AlmalekeLoL I'm not saying players know what is best for the game, in fact i can think of a specific example where it has been proven that even elite players didn't know what is best for the game (the seperate pvp system blizzard created to deal with pvp imbalance between geared and ungeared players, was suggested by the top tier arena players, and later hated by the very same players).
With this in mind, we also see that new developmental teams brought on after the original creators have a very hard time keeping the game great too. I see it a little bit like having new painters come along and try to continue the legacy of a great artist.
The game being changed is inevitable, and honestly the players have such little say in what actually happens to the development of the game, but having the polling system available at least breeds discussion and at least gives some community feel to the development of a game we've enjoyed for decades.
Can’t wait for the poll to remove polling
id vote yes instantly
It'll fail unfortunately
It would fail with a 74.9% yes vote
ya thats NOT going to happen lmao
Yes give jagex full control again so they can ruin the game again.
It super annoying how people want OSRS to stay in the actual year 2007 with NO QOL changes. They voted no to the sit function. The SIT function. WHY?! There's no drawback to being able to sit and you don't have to sit if you don't want to. It's just annoying how few QOL changes there still are.
It's crazy. I suggested more Wintertodt games that offer great skilling XP but isn't boring AFK tree cutting. I got told I'm a noob who wouldn't like this game and should stop playing. I've played this game for freaking nearly 15 years on and off!
I dont play rs anymore, but why theee fuuuukkkkk would you want the devs to loose time on such a useless function hahaha ! And whyyyyyy would you even care about sitting ?!?!
@@sjkkkkklammmmnnnnjnij it's already in the game. They just need to enable it. Would take 5 minutes, you know nothing about coding
@@RRapierre hahaha how can you assume that I know nothing about coding ? Its clear I assumed that this useless roleplaying feature was not already coded. I am actually coding, not games but I am coding. Go back to your afk game
@@Outwardpd If the feature is not already coded, it is not a matter of feeding a boolean value. If it has not already been coded, tested, and then pushed into production it means it will take more than 15 minutes to "add" sich a "feature". They would need to do regression testing and integration testing atleast. I do not know if it was already an existing feature and I do not care. The only thing that matters to me is that implementing a feature like that vs actually working on the mechanics or other more important aspects of the game is a waste of time to me, I am not a role player so that explains it. I also do not know much more about the game than what I learnt afking the game. Sorry meant playing. You say I never wrote functional or useful code in my life, but the point is not even about what I have coded but about the fact that if I was still afking runescape, I would want content, more bosses, something funnier to do in-game than looking at the GE map wondering what skill will I waste hours on. Anyways, I have never coded a game, but I do web development/ build platforms. As to "useful code", I mean you could code what seems to be a very nice useful program to you, but to me it could be simply useless horse shit. I will reiterate the most important point of all; if a feature, a.k.a "piece of code" is not already present and tested, then this is not a matter of a few minutes. How do you know that piece of code passed all their QA tests in 10 minutes because they turned on the switch on their boolean variable named "turnOnToggleSwitchToSitDown" with a property "pleaseMakeNoBugs"? It has to be tested, even if it's the dumbest one line of code, you cannot assume that it will not interact with any parts of your whole program. Special mention to the runescape afkers who are all very good at coding. Impressive knowledge of how it works in an enteprise context, just feed boolean values here and there and don't even test it, its just a boolean !
Have a good night my man, I am sorry to have offended your highly intelligent coder brain 😢
Anyone who has ever said anything along the lines of "that devalues my grind" should be permed. They are just holding the game back. Literally no one cares about your grind except for you. The difficulty of your grind is for your satisfactions and yours alone. If someone else does it in an easier way, that's up to them. It doesn't take away from the grind you did, and you will always have the satisfaction of knowing the work you did to get where you are. Denying an update because you suffered is just spiteful, and we don't need those players in the game.
The last one blew my mind; I just started OSRS this year and I’ve been mobile only the whole time, I had no idea desktop clients didn’t have filtering and resizing for magic
I really wish they did, its such a nice feature. :)
it was a shambles honestly i still cant believe it didnt get added after passing twice and only failing by 0.3% the 3rd time
As someone who's only used the Steam client since getting back into OSRS, which is on desktop but has all the QoL improvements of the mobile version, it's always nuts for me to see the features that the other desktop users lack and need to mod their game with RuneLite in order to access. Kind of like a "look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power" moment.

Jagex seriously needs to stop polling absolutely everything. Big changes sure but small ass changes like adding control options should straight up not be up for debate. A fully educated gameplay designer knows more about game design than some incel in their parents basement.
Agreed, someone who has worked in game design for years will without a doubt know much more
@@ColonelloRS It's wild as well, because for example how you mentioned even though somethings were polled in the past, were polled again and brought into the game. I actually have a somewhat overview of the polls that were put out including the skills. A lot of the things that did fail were brought in regardless, whether it was for integrity(zulrah 50k fee was polled and failed, but brought back regardless) or items(as you mentioned rune pouch/augury/etc..).
Also looking at the skills that were polled, Sailing, Artisan, and Warding. They brought in a massive amount of content that more often than not if it wasn't passed, it was brought in regardless and it was pretty much useless(Bloodbark xD, there's also Dagon'hai and a few others, but I digress). However it did pave the way for certain items that were proposed even though it seemed eventually we were going to get them anyways(DWH, Zenyte, DCB, 2H Crossbows[essentially ballistas]). It's sad that not ALL of these were ever reintroduced like most, but personally I believe they should be brought in regardless as they did already so much ground work for these skills to be ignored.
People don't even play OSRS strictly for the nostalgia, everyone keeps forgetting about EoC which is the SOLE REASON WHY OSRS EXISTS. They didn't care in what direction the game was going item wise or story wise. Everyone cared for the fact that it wasn't point and click anymore and you had to play like an MMORPG which everyone hated. I keep saying this and I know for a fact that no matter how bad they initially fuck up a poll(which as been done before) and the release it and it's super bad, they do listen and improve on their mistakes, but NO ONE will quit SPECIFICALLY because of that(unless if it reverts the game time they were playing, hello tbow bush).
Control options are the single most impactful updates runescape can ever receive. Making an activity easier and faster affects the entire balance of the game.
Stop acting like you're a super smart game developer when you know nothing about the history of runescape. The jmods know what they're dealing with.
@@Sammysapphira "balance of the game"

After watching this, it would be really interesting to see how much content would be added if the passing was 70% or even 74%.
We'll see now since they did change it to 70...
The votes are just gonna end up at 69% to keep it funny lmao
I feel that Jagex polls WAY more things than they should, but then also fail to ask the right questions in their polls. Anything that is just a minor graphical tweak, bug fix, or mechanics change that doesn't impact the meta (e.g. rotating the cam with middle click and drag). They also don't put in the effort to nail down precisely why people do or do not want certain changes such that they can then refine their ideas.
I hate the argument of "it would devalue something that already exists" I'm cool with something better coming along every 3-4 years. I'm bored of seeing nothing but Armadyl and Bandos for 8+ years. The game is so stale at the moment because everything new that gets released is always some super niche item that is only 2% better than a t70 from 14 years ago.
i a hundred percent agree with you, but i think the issue is also to prevent you from being too powerful.
if they make new, very hard content for new t85 gear, it'll still fuck up the rest of the game because then people are doing older content like vorkath even faster with this noticeably better gear, inflating even more money into the game.
if they release a boss that pretty much needs you in t90 gear to be doable; that's cool, but people will bring that t90 gear to zulrah & absolutely farm gp.
like i said i agree with what you said but as it stands, your character can already become pretty insanely powerful with a tbow or scythe, going past that i think could be an issue.
@@hikkikimori best way to combat stuff or at least a bandaid on these things is make older boss drops fuel for the new bosses. So say we have the new bandos and armadyl it would be crafted with using those 2 armor sets or use it as fuel. But such is the nature of the mmo things should get way easier with power creep as multiple years go by. A revolutionary idea could be they can simply buff and rework old bosses as years go by as well if they are that concerned about things becoming too easy.
As it stands right now the game is really stale. I wouldn't even mind new skills. It wouldn't even be "rs3" as the community likes to say. RS used to get new skills every few years sometimes 1 after another and I think things like that are good for the game and adds variety.
go play Rs3 then , this game is OLD SCHOOL runescape for a reason... LOL.... you must like EOC too
@@dabillya6845 you sound 12 years old.
Consume less Reddit. If you want linear gear progression where everyone wears the same exact gear for every single encounter, and "t90 better than t80 in every way how exciting", continue playing RS3 (or literally any other MMORPG for that matter). Linear gear progression is just flat out mind numbingly boring.
Gear variance is one of the only unique aspects of OS' otherwise rather boring combat system. Try using a tbow instead of a blowpipe at hydra, or a rapier instead of a DHL at vorkath and tell me these niche items are "only 2% better". These items are far from "super niche" too; the scythe is applicable to virtually every boss as they're larger than 2 tiles, the twisted bow I shouldn't even have to explain, demons and dragons are prevalent at all levels of the game... How about equipping Karil's for magic defense that doesn't lower your melee accuracy? If you have an Inquisitor's mace and a Scythe Bandos isn't even a BiS armor set in 95% of cases.
Yes the game is stale right now; I'd blame that not on gear but on Jagex releasing fewer and fewer updates for the permanent game proper (focusing on temporary game modes) and a lack of new content in general. I do agree that we could really use some new skills.
I LOVE the polling system in osrs, I think it's a great idea. But trolls and sweatys constantly just voting no to every little update is genuinely killing the game.
Also people using alts on polls. I get it would be hard to crack down on, but maybe some system for players to link their accounts together (only visible on Jagex's end, not to other players, and only accessible via a master account that is completely disconnected from the game) which ensures that the player only gets one vote across all of them. Then anyone caught evading this rule is perm banned
It's the point that there really should have been a discussion about changing polls from "yes or no" to "here are your options, choose which you'd like most"
The elitists dont represent the average player. Stop listening to them, they obviously have their priorities wrong for playing so much Runescape anyways.
I mean elitists aside, nearly all of the failed polls were over 60% in favour, if not 70% yet the system is set up in a way that strongly favours no changes above all else.
PREACH
If 75% of players are elitists then they do represent the average player though. Its a poll system. Not an oligarchy.
@@Erowens98 yes. Polls are more representative of the average player but still biased. Experienced/veterans tend to be more implicated and vote in polls.
In an ideal world the 75% threshold would be fine. The issue is that there is a voting imbalance due to selfish voters. Even if only 10% of the total players make a selfish vote, that's almost half of the required votes to make a poll fail. This gives way too much power to people who don't actually care about the state of the game and only care about what benefits them.
I feel like it should be 66%, that still means that 2/3 players want something to be introduced to the game and gives a margin of leeway for troll, selfish and salty votes.
People tend to give more negative votes than a positive ones.
Majority of views on youtube rarely leave a like in a video on youtube, but if they disagrees a little bit he will certainly leave a dislike.
@@jmtrad1906 i usually see people voting the shit out of adding new content. people love them, mostly.
I really don't see the problem with selfish votes, if something's going to negatively effect you and you vote against it surely that's the literal point of the vote?
@@olicool11 No, the point of the vote is to ask yourself if the change would improve the game. The prayer reordering one is a perfect example. This change only has benefits. Voting no for this is purely selfish, it's PvP players wanting to keep an advantage, which is not a choice to improve the game, it's a choice to maintain a dominant position. Allowing reordering of prayers is extremely helpful for accessibility reasons, such as helping people with disabilities or injuries. I can tell you for a fact that the 27.4% of players that caused this poll to fail never once considered disabled players in their vote. They saw it as a threat to their PvP ability and voted against it. This is incredibly selfish and it's ridiculous that they get so much power to vote against something so petty.
In fact, if you look at question 2 at 7:19, you can see 9% of players voted no to fixing a pathfinding bug. This poll passed, but those 9% of players represent 33% of the votes required to fail that question, and they are clearly trolling, which is also selfish voting.
The point is, giving a player 3 times more voting power than another player is just too one sided. It allows a player who allocates 0 brain cells to choosing an answer the ability to outvote 3 players who think about the consequences of their choices and how it will affect everyone that plays the game.
It turns out when a game is created to cater for players who don't like change, you build a playerbase who votes against sensible change. Colour me surprised
And then all the people from rs3 come to old-school and destroy the game
I find it mildly infuriating that so many people don't understand stand "should be an option" as something optional
Elitists hold so many polls back :/
Ikr, I can't even imagine someone voting no to chat dialogue keybinds and middle mouse rotation. :P

Genuinely as someone who pked through this entire games history. The back lash the five people in blazers did over mage one ticking is pathetic. You want someone to blame it’s one clan.
I don’t even play game anymore and I pked mostly when I did. I’m just saying making it friendly to start learning how to pk might bring more people in.
PKers ruining PKing for themselves and everyone is a tale as old as the wilderness
Tbf pking wasn’t dead before it was fairly active with rev caves etc it’s only been since the removal.
I know this is a controversial thought but i really do think the poll system should be removed. There's so many things people that get polled that should be in the game and just doesn't get added cause nostalgia wearing sweats keep saying no. At the very least lower the requirement
But old school itself is entirely the product of nostalgia.
Name 5 things that have failed a poll in the last 2 years
Does anyone even remember they proposed to add a huuuuge new area? Zeah was supposed to only be one small province of this. They hyped it up big time, had promises about some sort of colloseum and everything, but after Zeah (which was only supposed to be the start) they just never mentioned it again
Just saw your video on this, glad its not forgotten :p
Varlamore, the expansion of Zeah is about to be added now. I don't think they forgot that.
they need to just add a 5% grace to the poll. so if it fails by 74.9% it will count as a win as it's within 5%.. but maybe deprioritize it over everything else or put on backburner to be released/changed eventually (after other changes are done).. while those poll items that pass 75%+ are prioritized and pushed asap.
could even go to the extreme and say, anything that wins a majority vote between 50.1-74.9% will count as a win but are non-priority updates.
I kind of agree that, long-term, polling could kill old school. Some things just shouldn’t be polled if they’re no-brainer, qol changes like the spellbook and prayer icons
I'm still upset about the ban on prayer reordering plugins, and that it barely failed the poll for the official client. I have a bad wrist so anything to reduce mouse movement is a godsend.
I wish the game would be treated as a game and not as a community project.
I thoroughly enjoyed you repeatedly saying “ num keys” haha keep it up fam.
dude the spell book icon size pissed me off so much when it failed, it's the one poll i always wanted, it would of helped me learn to PK, but nope pkers don't want any competition, they would rather walk around in a dead wilderness
Wow pkers want skill expression in the lowest skill cap game of all time, shocker truly
People calling most of these changes QoL misses the mark entirely. Most of these changes are considered accessibility features, and Jagex were absolutely mad for letting the audience decide on them. Imagine a city council allowing the public to vote on whether or not to install a ramp to a building for wheelchairs. It's literally not up for debate in a just society.

QOL stuff that could potentially help disabled people shouldn't be polled, it should just be straight up added.
The idea that disabled people should have a tough time playing the game due to the elitist mindsets of others is ridiculous.

Stuff like this is why I can't bring myself to get into OSRS. Most of the polls that had stuff I was interested in were shot down for the most random reasons.
You can only get excited and disappointed so many times before learning to stay away entirely.
WARDING FAILED HAHAHA
@@georgecapello2472 The biggest argument for warding failing I've seen is all from max players saying they don't want to level a new skill. Like what the fuck. "Yo bro I don't like playing the game so don't add any more content so I can remain maxed without having to put any more effort into skills anymore."
There's also many polls that failed and would have been bad updates. Like original inferno. The other two saying Warding. It looked very boring skill. Crafting but for magic.
Then there's the awesome polls that failed like stackable clues...
Wanting others to suffer just because you did is backwards af. Why would you actively want to sabotage the game you spend so much time on by making it less user friendly and intuitive for other players? Like…y’all do know that you would also get the same benefits, right? It makes zero sense to screw other players over like that and it’s a bit ridiculous. Personally I think small QoL updates don’t need polls especially if it’s a toggle-able option. I also think 75% is a bit too much, 2/3 is already hard enough to make polls pass but 3/4 is kinda overkill. Too much power is given to a small percentage of elitists that would much rather sabotage the game for their own personal benefit than help it grow and modernize.
yet that's the argument you see a lot especially with skills like RC that take an eternity to level and outside of a few qol improvements has basically stayed the same since RS2.
"Suffer" is a strong word. We just all want to play the same runescape. If all your achievements and effort get invalidated then what's the point of even playing the game?
If you're "suffering" and thing grinding is "suffering": quit runescape. You won't be missed.
@@basementjesus7346 the essence of runecrafting is that is hard and takes lots of time. If you don't like it, don't do the skill. This is what creates opportunity and value in an economy. People will do stuff that you don't want to do for a premium.
Failure to understand this is failure to understand good game economy. If everything is easy, nothing is worth anything, and everybody suffers.
Old-school runescape is no longer old-school. It's basically pre eoc, and all the new updates has made old-school items, previous content and skills pointless
The worst poll absolutely was when spell resizing passed twice and pkers bitched hard enough to get an unannounced 3rd poll that failed by 0.3% over a holiday. Literally a small percent of a community bugged the right devs until they got their way and that's what we're all stuck with.
Or basically anything ruined by pkers despite the poll not affecting them or being a toggle. Toxic ass community.
and this is why polls shouldn't exist. They will alwasy upset one group of players. Annoying fucks
There isn't a single game in the world where the player base isn't toxic.
It's humanity that's toxic.
"In Runescape, literally everything is polled". That's not true. Not even close. Recent things that aren't integrity updates but have been done without a poll are: Changing the sound of harpooning, changing abyssal bludgeon hit sounds, removing the ability to type in all caps in osrs, and adding sounds to leveling up. These are not the only examples, just some of the recent, completely unnecessary ones. I talk about this in my latest vid, polling is all a mess really.
Also they've been adding runelite features to the steam client.. They know if they would poll it that it would be spite voted.
Some of these are needed updates that never went through.
Sadge
The threshold for passing is absurdly high. Two Thirds (66%) is a decent super majority, three quarters is too much benefit to naysayers. Why they chose 75% instead of 66% is really puzzling
Legit everything would pass at 66%
@@QbiKz And what's the problem with that? If more than 2 out of every 3 players agree to want something, it seems reasonable to give it to them. If "everything" would pass as you say, then Jagex is doing a good job at producing ideas that people like.
You seem to think the polls exist to fail. If anything, every single poll should pass. Failed polls are a failure in Jagex understanding what players want.
50% should be enough.
70%
@@thekilla1234 if everything passed we would end up with rs3 and the game would die. It would be dead already
You very briefly flashed the pole about the sailing skill. In my opinion. Sailing might pass if they combine it with the gliders and such and just call it exploration. Literally use the same mechanics as sailing just with the glider and the sky. Gotta level exploration to take that port boat 😎
New skill: scamming. Would pass in a heartbeat

Why the heck do they poll QoL updates anyway? The majority of players who don't have disabilities won't see the need for it, and the people who do need it won't have their voices heard.
The worst polls were blowpipe nerf rev cave removal and dual arena removal because we didn't even get a poll! The rev caves and the dual arena are some of the most fun things to do in the game!
Nostalgia is why OSRS has a painfully aging playerbase that will result in its death sooner rather than later. The literal only thing I disliked about RS3 at the time of OSRS' creation was the combat, so it's just annoying watching the player base be their own worst enemies.
Also, passing should go own to 65%
The main problem with the poll system is Jagex has literally no idea how to write effective polls.
Yeah they’ve definitely gotten better, but a lot of older polls are worded so poorly haha

You act like stopping those things with a team that small is easy. Gambling addicts only hurt themselves and not the game which is fine and RMT is basically undetectable with the software they have. They'd have to log EVERY trade and have a complete trade history to even stand a chance.
The store i work at has signs posted outside saying EBT not excepted and customer restroom only.. Yet ppl still ask.. The amount of ppl in this world who cant read boggles my mind on a daily..
that ad transition was more trash than this poll
Damn :(
In osrs, literally everything is polled"
OSHD would like to have a word with you.
‘All the things that didn’t get enough votes, but I voted for, and why the people who said no are stupid’.
Game would be better if Jagex were more lenient with what needed to be polled and what could just be added/changed when they wanted. Players don't always have the best idea of what they actually want, or what would actually be good for a video game. The passing threshold should probably be lowered to two-thirds as well.
Someone needs to send this video to Asmongold just for that ad segue.
I feel like maybe what they should do is have different thresholds for things passing based on how significant of a change/update it is
Oh yeah. 50% for quality of life stuff, maybe 75% for actual game changers
I can see both sides. I remember back in rs2 i was one of the only people to obtain an untrimmed slayer cape-- which at the time was a fairly impressive accomplishment. But then when squeal of fortune came, we saw people buying untrimmed slayer capes at like 15 combat. I remember i was very mad that they were able to get it so easily while the rest of us had to sit and cannon our tasks without using other combats getting 5-10k slayer xp an hour.
The fact that Jagex still runs polls for the smallest of changes is rage inducing. I trust Jagex way more than i trust a bunch of uninformed window lickers that read the first 3 words of as poll and say "but muh dev time".
"Luckily we had clients like OSBuddy exist" *insert vietnam war flashbacks*
Jagex should just make it so 65% yes is needed to pass a poll. Its still a fairly large majority.
As well, anything over 55% but lower than 65% should just keep re-polling indefinitely until either it falls below or above the threshold.
There is really little reason to allow 1/4th of players to determine what is best for 75% of players, and it would be zero opportunity cost to keep repolling until a consensus is made within the community. It would also give them time to clarify the details.
To be honest, adding new content should have a majority of 66-70-75% depending on the impact, but follow up questions like "should we do it this way or the other?" should only have 50% because you can ask it both ways. The filtering was a good example. They first asked it as a negative question 'should we not add resizing?' which needed 75% but if they asked 'should we add resizing'? only 25% needs to vote 'no'. That makes no sense. I believe Jagex has been doing QoL update polls like these to assess voting patterns in the community. Maybe they're keeping track of statistics and try to filter out accounts that vote no to anything no matter what. It might also be an IQ test, though.
The magic spellbook filter was polled stupidly, it passed twice, the third poll took place during Thanksgiving weekend and was a very time to poll, and was a poll that changed the f2p interface while f2p had absolutely no say in the matter.
I've played for years and just now found out from this video you can move camera views with the scroll wheel. My mind is blown.
I had no idea about the num keys for dialogue or the middle mouse button lol
Some of those qol of life changes failing then passing later reminds me how utterly dumb osrs community is

I have an old PC at my parents house I can potentially try to revive and then upload its cache to the archive. I believe i quit playing OSRS on it in 2013 when I went to college and bought a laptop
PVM reddit losers be like "pvp poll? automatic no" and still to this day nobody can explain why they are so mad.
It's kinda crazy that people in that poll think that jagex would add anything into the game that couldn't be done with a mouse.
Wrong. The big deal wasnt that our skills would b less valuable if prayer reordering came out in pvp, it was that the distance between a new player and a veteran player, in terms of what they can do to get an advantage in a heavily rng based type of combat, had been reduced. Thus, it made pvp closer to a coin flip, gambling. You and many other who dont pk at a high lvl dont understand how much these little things matter
That's bs. Sounds like a way to restrict other people of making their own builds in a RNG-BASED BATTLE SYSTEM just because expert PK players feel some kind of accomplishment doing the same stuff in different toggle zones. One of the few things that make me realize players like you don't know what they want. This opposition generally comes from people that later complain about pking being dead.
Lmfao that baldness advertisement that pops up out of nowhere
I just came back to play again, and realized the middle mouse button camera move and its so beautiful for playing on my laptop. Instead of using the arrow keys.
Looking at a hair loss add on a video game that I started playing when I was in elementary school really hits home.
Fuck. When you put it like that...
Man.. I remember when fight pits was filled, so so fun!!
This is literally that king of the hill meme about being able to read lol. Except these gate keepers can't read and they are still getting mad abut stuff they cannot comprehend.
Hard disagree, arrow keys are nostalgia.
still use em today
the closest pre 2014 arma helm can be seen on the rs3 wiki , could be directly similar to the pre update from osrs
I agree polling will kill the game.
You have the following voters.
•Yes Andy’s
•No Andy’s
•Spite Voters
•Try hards “I did it this way they have to too
•Content influenced votes
•Then a small community of logical voters
The problem is even if they make it a total level requirement or hours played you still hit them all.
Personally I agree.
Remove it.
why are you using zoomer terms, makes your point look stupid af
like what the fuck is an andy lol. twitch sucks so idk
@@dabillya6845 Andy is just a term that replaces people but in a more negative context.
As for my post yes Andy’s no Andy’s. It’s to assert more of a negative impact suppose to just saying yes voters no voters.
@@potent_osrs4680 thank you
This is why RS3 from a gameplay perspective is more fun to ME, because QOL changes just get added and nobody gets to ruin them by saying “nope I don’t want you to have a more accessible game bub”
I mean seriously, voting to add a shop but then voting no to all of the shop’s contents? How ridiculous can you get?
Honestly Siren's tome should be added as an ornament kit to Mage's book because I think it looks good.
I hate the, “this group is holding osrs back” let’s be honest osrs will live as long as the niche community keeps playing. Getting new people to play on osrs tick based mechanic is near impossible.
There's too many superior games these days for new players to time sink runescape
Not gonna lie, back when they originally added the ability to advance dialog via space bar and numkeys my mind was blown
So much of the OSRS playerbase just doesn't want changes for the sake of not having changes. They don't ask themselves "would this make the game better / would it hurt my experience?" they just see change and mindlessly vote no. In their mind "I liked 07scape better than EoC" means "07scape was the perfect game that should never get an update again". Beyond dumb
I'm a guy who plays as a girl character, I hate how the armadyl helmet looks. I noticed it before I even heard anyone say it, it definitely would be nice if it were changed.
Colonello thank you for reading my post, there is one important thing I want to say that not many people know about. During the last poll, I saw a lot of people on reddit give their opinion. Many people saw the side by side view of the face and thought the helmet looked fine! I even thought from that angle it looked better than the male helmet. But when you see it in game as your character or someone else, especially with the rest of the armadyl set, it stands out. The helmet looks incomplete, it feels like it should be covering the side of the face. It has that weird curve and it just feels weird.
I guess I can't edit a comment and keep the heart :(
It's almost like voting on real politics where it doesn't really matter what you vote, nobody's going to listen anyway
What bothers me is when Jagex adds something, then nerfs / changes it, then the players get angry so they decide to poll it instead of fixing it back to how it used to be lmfao.
Honestly it's kinda bs how some people be refusing certain features because they didn't have them,
in other words, they don't want the game to progress at all because they're too pridefull about getting a 99 by using their mouse or whatever.
Opening phase “RuneScape polls everything” **cough** not revs removal **cough**
i have seen plenty of people on reddit who openly have said that they vote no to every single poll because something they wanted didnt get passed.
Not a good criticism of saying that people can't read when majority blame is on the survey writers for leaving out context in the questions or assuming people read the blog posts before submitting their poll. There's a technique to survey writing that needs to be invested in to ensure quality responses.
The 75% threshold is detrimental to the game, we could have some amazing things if they lowered it to 65 or 70
quality of life changes shouldnt be polled wtf
So they don’t accept updates despite the community liking them, sometimes just fucking adding it anyways later with no fanfare OR making a poll, surpassing the threshold and just fucking doing nothing.
Am I missing ANYTHING from this?
I almost cryed when Prayer reorder was deleted from Runelite, useless prayers I keept down and up I had what I used especially nice on demonic gorilla, not to mention demonic gorilla plugin also deleted :)
i found the original arma helm in 2 seconds with a quick google search.... lmao
Filtering is basically useless? That's short selling it immensely. It is still quicker and easier to find and click on what you want
dude changing your spellbook to be one giant ice barrage would be extremely stupid. Get real lol
