Why it's (Not) worth visiting Auroville | Auroville Experience

- Auroville is so much more than just the Matrimandir. And like most of us even I made the mistake of doing a half day tour of Auroville 5 years back. But coming back here for long was always on my radar. So finally in December'18 I decided to stay here for a week.
Auroville is basically an experimental township where people from multiple nationalities are able to live in an integrated harmonious way, with a common purpose of realising human unity. A place where people come to live their dreams. Be it a business manager turned social entrepreneur, a market researcher turned farmer, or a graphic designer turned musician, this is definitely the place where creativity is the means to a better way of living.
For an experiential traveller like me, this is the perfect platform for understanding the community living and learning from some life-enriching experiences. Although on a very small scale, Auroville is a commendable example of alternate and sustainable living, and a proof of harmonious integration between the locals and expats.
Even after living here for a week, I still find it difficult to capture this place in words. But it’s a genuine break from the only way of life most of us have lived so far. So instead of a day tour, stay here for a while, indulge in delicious organic food, volunteer in a few interesting activities, make some new friends and basically LIVE A LITTLE.

Very rightly said ... It's an experience ... When I was in Bangalore I use to run aways from daily grind on weekends to pondy and unwind ... Just by myself by the sea and explore myself. I loved La Cafe and the beach too.
Just 3 letters... Wow!! That's why it's called a future city, an ideal & healthy life style, food...
Absolutely. Plus it has something for everyone 😊
Have been there since mother incepted !! M talkin of 1970s when first had mother darshan ,she gifted me one rose inexchange of bunch flowers mothers room
Auro ville= Bishwa Mela...so many times I visited the place, and my desire grows..to come back here again and again.
I love ferrero, so why not auroville! The concept is great and the video is encouraging enough to experience the township, who knows what's in for me there:)
Great to hear that. Hope you make it soon 😊
The video could have been more elaborate. How does one get an access , what are the prerequisites.
What can one expect in terms of lodging, food , what can one do, learn or contribute there . Is it a peaceful place or a bustling one . What is the atmosphere and ambience like ..
I have been intrigued by Auroville and I had promised myself that I would escape to it if life got weary and rough....
I did visit there , only the reception and the commercial area open to tourists...
Who's here after dhruv rathee video?
Dhruv tatti *
Yeah unfortunately our media and TV never talk about these places . I learned about it from him .

Wow ..my favorite place
Love love puducherry😘😘
Been there twice amazing experience!!!
Cool. I hope next time you'll add Auroville also to your itinerary, and not as a day trip 😉
Last week my friend family visiting here but no use,if you want go to inside of Globe first time Direct Booking then you go to online booking. Other wise wast of time.
2 days before you go to book Directly, 2 or 3 day only permitted inside of globe.
How can I join auroville as a part of their community other then being volunteering or an intern or just being a visitor
Can I become an aurovillan ?
you should come back and do a new video 🙏
saw ashram, AV first 1979, that time , mother was not there anymore, AV was a battlefield(pour tous v. newtrals), later MM became ready (thanks to the divine) and savitri bhavan, peace was made, all kind of activities started. now AV is in danger to become a resort for lakhs of tourists. people who are just no one flood in, now with cars, demands, comfort. has the experiment failed already? or does it take another 200/300 years to establish a higher collectiv consciousness? at the moment I am loosing interest in AV. not in the ideal, but in the reality.
If it doesn't suit you it doesn't mean everything as you say is lost. We have lots of av born kids who have a different motive to follow the vision of the mother. It has been always a bridge between the future and the past no mater what others outside feel. So let's not forget where we all come from... 😊

Where did you stay in Auroville?
You did not mention any of the business aspects of Auroville.
Like, there is so much limits, and here as in the world outside - with money you get everything.
They sell food for a expencive price to make an income and if there is food others places it is community based and not up to the same standards.
To live or to be a volunteer in Auroville would not give you money needed for anything outside.
There is possible to buy houses or place to and then easy to become and Aurovillian.. (If also the need to call yourself something else than a human being is there inside a human, which i think is creepy xD)
The Auroville idea is great, still it got a long way to go.
It was not suppose to be operated with money but is in so many ways.
But i do know they need much from the outside which makes so they have to generate an income on behalf of their popularity.
But then again, easy to fall in to the business aspect again because of the possibilities money also can buy.
AGAIN, this is why i feel their values/focus is wrong, i think Mirra or/and Sri Aurbindo wouldnt like the direction it has taken.
It was suppose to be under the values of just co-operating and help from what possible to help with after what is learned.
A volunteering humanity, and yes. There is possible to be little volunteering in there, but.
The big ones earn money and live a more rich life in the norms of the daily life values outside of this system.
How this coming from someone who has spend their entire life as he or she has explained. So sad everything has to have a beginning for a future we all aspire for so it might take its time to reach but let's not try and discourage their efforts for a better future. 😊
@@kavithapk431 Sure. Thing is, some see things in other ways. I remember i was there and saw a lady (looking like she bought a house coming from America in Auroville).
She was like standing "there" pointing towards an India man who lives on the outside which came in to create a simple gate since this man is paid very little for the job.
I am not saying Auroville is a bad thing and i do not speak this way at all.
What i am saying is that if Mirra Alfassa or/and Sri Aurbindo was there, maybe it would have evolved even more in smarter ways related to the structure or ideology wanted. Yes. The woman or the man said it may take many, many.. Many years for this place to develop as it should be and yet few years have past.. So..
But i promote it, i speak great about it.. Just i also do share my thoughts on it.
Btw. We need a Auroville in every country to reach the next level. Then some who have to travel can go from land to land since there is a Auroville destination to travel for.
@@kavithapk431 that’s the whole point!!!
I.e. whatever you want to grow it GROWS from seed so it is very important that the right seeds (methods/ principles) are planted and not using money it really is a fundamental part of it
But for many this is what is being shown in Auroville.....I am surprised how you reached there ....it's not open for all to see
How spend a few days here?? Volunteer etc.?
It's totally your call. You can volunteer, or just stay in any the guesthouses over there and indulge in various workshops, or simply enjoy the art of doing nothing 😊
@@THEUNTRAVELSHOW - can you tell me about the workshop you attended in this video. THE TREEHOUSE, helping in cooking, dancing on the drum beats as I am going there by Jan' 2020 will be there for 10 days so how to get these interesting things and art to do. Any trustworthy contact volunteer you can give too. It would be a GREAT HUMBLE HELP. Thank you. PEACE OUT :)
@@ziesha27 The workshops are all seasonal and there's no contact person per se. Every week the schedule is put on the notice boards of the visitors centre and the guesthouses inside Auroville. I got to know about most of the activities either through the notices or word of mouth. BTW I stayed in the dorms of Joy Community guesthouse and really enjoyed the experience. Hope that was helpful
@@THEUNTRAVELSHOW you stayed at joy community in auroville , actually going with my father how is the facilities of washroom and standard rooms do you know about it? Please can you answer this if possible. Thanks.
@@urvi7404 I stayed in the dorm, so the washrooms were common but they were very clean. I believe they have private rooms as well. You can find more info on the links shared in the description of the video.
