Very sadly, this is only a very biased view of Auroville's history and present reality. The journalist forgot to take into consideration the views of the largest portion of the residents for whom the city can not be built by force. The very purpose of Auroville is not to built a city but to build a new man!

Asked 120 million euros from Indian government to propagate utopia ,when India needs funds for so many things, and also when auroville is nothing similar to what Sri Aurobindo would have liked it or be,it all cool, vogue, selling handmade stuff, long haired men,in kurta doing drum circles, far way fr Bharath and true snanatana.

I’ve stayed there as a guest twice so far. They have prayer circles where they chant Vedic mantras to melodies the mantras were originally set to. They have meditation groups, plant flora that is native to the region and which you don’t see outside Auroville on the highways or in villages. They follow the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, who borrowed most of their ideologies from the bhagvad Gita and the vedas. I’ve seen more authentic expressions of what Sanatana Dharma genuinely is inside Auroville than I’ve seen anywhere else in India, and I’ve lived all over this country.

Thankful for the effort to present Auroville's reality, I do have to say, as always, that the statements like "everyone receives the same salary" are simply not true. It is NOT the reality of today. People have enormously different financial means, and a very vast portion of the 3,300 inhabitants have their own financial sources, that have nothing to do with the "equal salary" that Auroville provides. Auroville only provides a small portion of the residents with those "salaries", and the required "output" in return for that "salary" is hugely different.
Secondly, there never ever was "unity" in Auroville. From its very start, the dominant doctrine, naturally, as in every society, was set by the most bullying and least spiritual faction of the society: the most brutal people will always be the most loud and the most influential.
This was the same in Auroville, from day one, and Auroville's beautiful aims and ideals were hijacked immediately by people who had very low levels of consciousness, but were very skilled in manipulation.
This leads to the third point: this dominant faction managed to suppress the real history of what happened here in the beginning, and has now made their mythological account of the early years the official story, more of a hagiography than a historical account. As with all colonies, all pre-existing realities need to be removed, and the arrival of the colonists presented as brave adventurers arriving on an empty land, which was, thanks to their hard work and great skills, transformed into a paradise. How many times will Europeans get away with this childish, idiotic lie?
The colonists have to constantly make sure the lie is repeated and instilled in every person that comes, lest someone discover the reality of the colonial history, with all its dirty but strongly suppressed facts.
The present turmoil is the inevitable result of a world no longer accepting that lies and falsehood are the age-old basis of society. Truth needs to be allowed to be told, and become the basis of our daily interactions, and the way we structure our communal life.
The Auroville of the past 50+ years is dead. You may find this an absurd statement, an exaggeration without reality, but you will see it in the coming years.
Auroville is being re-invented, the narratives that are being put out since the very early days, but which have never been real, quite on the contrary, are being put into reality. It will be needed to come back in 5 years to compare the Auroville picture here with the Auroville that is being born right now.
Because the "no ownership" has never been anything but a nice propaganda line, and a legal reality. But the reality these colonists created, is of course one of possession and violent defending of powers and property rights.
Auroville is at this very moment in the midst of a very nasty legal fight, waged by these colonists to prevent the past from being changed into the future. They cannot accept that the lives they built over all these decades are being put into question, that they now have to be accountable for their crass abuse of the freedoms India bestowed so uniquely and benevolently on the Aurovilians. They are turning it into a very ugly battle for property and ownership, showing you and everybody else that their nice talks of "equality" and "no money, no politics, no ownership" are only empty words, and cover up a very different reality.
Luckily their reign is over, their grip over Auroville through bullying, emotional and physical intimidation and blackmailing is finally coming to an end.
Please come back in five years, and document the immense difference you will see then with the reality of today.

    • @worldoftruth9304
      @worldoftruth9304 2 года назад

@canwetalkabout No, there is a lot more. The past 50 years of Auroville have seen it being perverted into a cult.
That is a reality that needs to be set straight before we can talk about any "attempt" at whatever.
We ARE continuing the experiment. ln order to do so, the people who are since decades blocking all experimentation and simply squatting on this location as if it were their property, have to be removed: they are illegally occupying this place for something it was never meant to be.
Once that situation is dissolved, we can go on with trying to create Mother's Dream.

if in 5 years it is returned to the 'natives' it'll be the same worn out desert that it came from, the 'colonisers' managed to create something from the nothing they left behind and now they jealously want it back but with none of the knowlege or will to change that made such an oasis.

@@transitionmama Every single one of your "united meetings" proves it. It's over, Petra. Accept it alright. You're done, you're in the past. Get over it and allow Auroville to move on and boldly spring towards future realisations. If you don't like what is happening, fine. But step out of the way instead of desperately trying to prevent the inevitable. You can only be crushed.
