  • A lot of us dream of leaving the busy cities and moving to mountains (or work from mountains) to live a life of clean air and unadulterated peace.
But there are very few who actually leave the rat race behind and pull it off.
In this series I'll be in search of such inspirations and real life stories to decipher that is the grass really greener on the other side.
Now if there's one place where I have to start this search it has to be LANDOUR. Even though it’s just 5 kms and a thousand feet away from Mussoorie, it's a world apart. My Love Affair with Landour started 3 years ago, when the fragrance of idyllic walks amidst Cedar and Pine forests, the casting spell of the bells of the nearby church, the charm of British era colonial bungalows, and the aura of windows overlooking snow peaked mountains, caressed not only my body, but my soul as well
And in these pristine surroundings lies LA VILLA BETHANY the home of Sunita and Amarjeet Kudle, who after working for more than a decade in Mumbai & Delhi, had finally decided that it was time to follow their dreams
So If you need a little motivation to change the course of your life, let these stories be your catalyst.
    La Villa Bethany: www.lavillabethany.com/
    About Me:
My name is Abhishek Vaid and I'm a 'Corporate Escapee' turned full-time traveler with a professional background in Business Strategy and a typically Indian educational background -
Engineering (NIT Surat) + MBA (IIM Bangalore).
After a 10 year long corporate stint, I pressed the Format button to build a different life starting from scratch - A life focused around travel. My aim is to spread Travel as a philosophy of life and not as a luxury, and hence the name Work.Earn.Travel.Repeat. And through this channel I'll be bringing some inspiring travel stories of people, places and experiences.

After watching this video and the other video of landour tour from this channel... I have been so deeply attached to get to this place that it has found place in my dreams at night..... I don't have money to travel in present circumstances of my life.... But someday I will get here and someday i will have my dream come true.... Lifetime Living in such place is definitely pricey so what if someone has the dream of settling down like this...Making Dreams come reality is always based on some cost and a lot of struggle.... I hope that there will be more such lovely places in world be filled up with right people to make us believe that even this could become true.... Who let us live momentarily living our dreams....

I was fortunate enough to visit Landour with my husband with 3 months of our marriage and every bit of our time was magical at Landour! Very difficult to put into words as to how Landour casts a spell all over you, we were so immersed in true beauty of this place on our trip in July 2019 😍

God knows... It so much matches with my mentality.... Born and brought up in the planned Industrial city of Durgapur, I longed for that fresh air and greenery sitting in kolkata, my workplace. Whenever had a chance drove down to the greenery and rivers around Durgapur. Now sitting in Greater Noida and having driven down to UK twice I long to settle down in a piece of green land on the base of Siwaliks, the old connecting road between Dehradun and Hrishikesh. It's a bit hilly and shrouded in greenery

more than 50% people in uttrakhand villages live in subsidized ration provided by state, very few grow there own and eat and more over they suffer because of wild boars attack on their crops.

@@geetsharma6944 He is not really wrong. It's always a challenge to farm in mountainous region. A big Migration from villages to towns is a major problem and political instability in region is responsible for it.
Although, it wouldn't be right to compare himchal with uttrakhand in regards to infrastructure. Because it's not been even 20 years of Uttrakhand becoming a separate state. Whereas himachal had gotten their statehood many decades ago.
And before becoming a state in 1971, it had been an union territory for decades after Independence and that's why huge fund was given for infrastructure and growth. Soon, it became major tourist hub.
Uttrakhand was created after around 30 years of himachal pradesh getting a statehood and had never been an union territory. Above all, whole region was completely overlooked by UP governments. No infrastructure No growth in this Himalayan region.
It's been almost 20 years of it becoming a separate state and situations would have been a hell lot of better, had there been stable government and prudent leaders in these past 20 years.

One big issue is that cultivable land in uk for one person in his village is fragmented, which makes agriculture in hills a huge challenge. Himachal had the similar issue but himachal had applied land consolidation law in its region. Now it's not that hard for a person to farm and take care of his farm from animals to a large extent.
But, in uk political parties just speak of it but don't do anything about it. There has had been demand for land consolidation process for decades but due to lack of political will power it couldn't be possible.
