Dan's the kind of bloke that everyone needs in their life, he's got wisdom beyond his years, a calm demenour, is kind and nurturing to his mates and you know he'll help them anytime they need it. A true blue bloke.
Yeh man
100%
Not really in all fairness he is a bit pf a wank and wouldn't last long in most shops
Dan seems like the kind of guy his "mates" would leave home when they went out because if he spoke around other people the whole crew would look like idiots
Dan really is the man. Great teacher for first time welder. Wish I had someone like this. Literally had to teach myself.
Best Part of the week 9oclock on a Sunday
Thanks mate ! Really appreciate it! :)
Feel like Dan's gonna be a great dad 😂 in 20 years time of Aussie Arvos we'll have an episode "teaching Dan junior how to weld sliders"
Dan is the definition of "Don't judge a book by its cover". I definitely did not expect a bloke who looked like that to be so articulate and well spoken.
Dan hits the nail on the head, this is a great DIY with a bunch of mates. End result is a product built not bought. Great one boys. 👍
Have a shot every time the metal ruler is slapped on the tube, love it boys keep it up!
Dans a brilliant teacher extremely calm and thorough, what a man haha !
The wealth of knowledge that Dan has is bloody insane! Wouldn't mind a mate like him 😂👌 yet another cracking episode though, love that you fellas are building your cars the way y'all want instead of following the norm!
Damn. Dan explains things well.
We all need mates like Dan! Thanks for the 101 boys 🍻🍻
Best "how to weld" video for beginners I've seen. Thanks guys.
Great to see Dan again and great vid
It's great to have a group of friends with varying skills. Makes doing DIY more fun with mates. 👍
Some great father son bonding in this one.
Bloody awesome vid lads !!!👍
We need more videos with Dan involved 🙌🙌🙌
Buddy ... I have cut and shut my steel tray and built my own side-steps for my gq and I still wouldn't do a video on welding lol
You have some balls Liam and screw anyone that knocks you for having a go, on camera no less ... I always find I weld better when I'm relaxed so no way could I weld on camera lol 😉👍👍
i have watched plenty "diy welding" vids, this is hands down the best.
Everyone needs a Dan as a mate. Patient and clever fella
I'm an excellent grinder, or as someone else said:"grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain't".
I tip my hat to you Liam!
Growing up, my Dad had an attempt at teaching me to weld using an arc welder... I have since discovered the pleasures of mig welding, but because I dont weld often, I just have a gasless mig. Just returned from my first weekend trip with my home built camper trailer. Even with all that welding, mine are still a bit ordinary. Great job boys!
On a side note, I love the content and the family friendly way you do it. Makes it easy to reconmend the channel to the year 7 and 8 boys I work with who are interested in camping and 4wding.
Three trolley jacks! - just a bit jelly of you guys 😉
Well done mate. Ive been welding for years, and because I dont weld often, my welds sometimes look like a dogs breaky! For first time mig welding, youve smashed it! Having a very good instuctor helps a lot. Good onya boys.
Once again, Awesome episode guys...
Some good instructions and wise words from Dan the man. Good job fella's. Also paint hides a million sins.
I like Dan so helpful great part of the team
I’m in the same boat giving welding a crack
Have been mig welding for years with highly varying success and failures.
Learnt some handy tips from this.
Wish i had someone like dan around to teach me.
Good to see dan in a video
53 and im always learning. I use gasles quite a lot because I run argon only for the tig welder and dont want to stock two different bottles of gas. Am now tossing up wether to get a kit or bend up my own. Great job fellas. Enjoy watching all you blokes do as its very budget related and shows just what can be done without spending heaps of hard earnt dollars.
Love the content and the way you guys go about things. Keep it up fellas!
yeah yeh okay ! that was great to watch !! very cool ! they are going to serve a good purpose too ! very strong !
Top job guys, love you do so much of the work on your cars! No comment on the welding as I definitely can't weld. Last time I even had a go at welding was old school stick welding (without gas) which no one seems to do anymore.. :-)
A little late to this vid but there’s something satisfying just building ya own sliders. I did exactly that with my PX2 dual cab in December last year with all 6mm plates and tubing and 3mm elbow tubes and probably nearly as inexpensive as Liam with MIG wielding as I only learnt stick wielding in TAFE in 2015/16. If there was one thing I only wished I did was to have my bolts wielded in the brackets. But otherwise a real good learning experience, as ya blokes said, good time to get mates together and just have fun building stuff
Good job lads
Will say that the stuttering of the welder at the start of your welds is to do with the surface of your material
The cleaner your surface the better your welds
Takes a bit of time but I’d always try and sand off all that millscale/oxidisation before running your welds
Keep up the great work fellas!
Well done lads, good diy welding 👍
Big dog Dan, what a legend! Great video gents 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Can’t wait to watch this vid I bought A Aussie arvos sticker came in in one day that’s so good guys love your vids
yeh i wanta get some rocksliders but awesome stuff very very informative and handy to know for welding anytime you need to weld guys .. big thumbs up
Learnt more about welding than in welding videos!
Yeah the boyszzz good sort
Nice work guys 1🤙
Good work mate..👍
Practice makes perfect 👌
i say well done mate. Dan, wat cant this dude do. its amazing wat a grinder can do with a flap wheel. its just like a hammer, hit it harder. screw wat the so called utube experts say. there no better than doctor google.
Merry Christmas to you both and your families from our family. Thank you for the video's and there nothing like building it yourself. Russell
Thanks Russell! You too!
Well done
Interesting, I was teached a bit of tig welding last December.
It went pretty well a few screw ups but not too bad.
Only problem I had is you can barely see anything. I had to watch the puddle and look at the metal that was illuminated.
So I had a hard time estimate when to stop or when I'm close to the edge.
The pedal took a few tries to get use to.
Great work boys and really informative with welding. Im self taught. And some days i can lay pennies like a professional. Others its literally chicken poop.
My 2cents for beginners is make sure youre comfortable. As in gloves on kneeling, standing, sitting. If your weld hand feels a bit off. Maybe chock it up with a piece of timer. Or if your crouched over. Try reposition yourself in a more ergonomic way.
Try your best. Grind the rest. And always make your new weld better than your last.
U should add. Theres extremely well priced 3-in-1 cigwelds on the market. Great hobbie welder for arounf the $400 mark.
good stuff boys..some good tips for blokes that want to have a go..
I learnt so much, thank you :)
Good job mate
Not just a good mate but a top bloke Dan is. Willing to teach and help someone out with welding in this instance. Has the patience and the attitude of not being a dick. Which is amazing.
Liam, You’ll get better mate. All in practice. I’d love to learn to weld, But don’t know a dam thing about it or have a mate to show me and have enough patience for me. 🤣
Dan’s back!
I was taught 1 key advice by my teacher who taught me to weld
"Pull the slag like your tryna pull sl*ts"
And ever since that day I've never tried pushing a weldin bead
Looks mint 👍🏽
No prob Liam! Just grind hell out of them, then results looks good!
Puts me to shame I’ve welded a few times and for your first welds you’re doing great keep it up boys
He would be GREAT to learn from 👍🏻
Loving it boys! Sending good vibes from South Africa🤙 Any idea what wall thickness tubing you guys used? Busy buying material for exactly this job on my 99 d22 Nav so the info would help alot👍
How were the honey soy chicken chips? 🤣 Great vid guys keep it up.
Dans gonna be a good dad
awesome video, just with the end caps you had nothing blocking that cross member join from filling up
Welding is a perishable skill, if you don’t do it on the regular, you’ll need to do some practice passes before you crack on.
Nice to be taught be someone who thoroughly understands what he is doing #dan_the_man
You fellas not using weld through primer?
How much was the kit from diy customs? I'm looking at doing the same.
looks good as
What happened to the car hoist?
Pull mig push tig rule of thumb
Where do you get these kits

Nearly time to raptor paint that body
Just verti down the dogg
Definitely seen worse first welds before, including my own.
Good topic. Worst camera movement ever.
