Minor point as I haven't used it properly yet...but the RC2 (screen), the control sticks are a lot more of a faff to put in as instead of screwing IN directly, you have to screw on to a little screw ON the controller... I've dropped them twice, a problem I didn't have on the N2 controller (on my Mini 2, which annoyingly was stolen!)

Every case I have ever had for my DJI controller I have never removed the controller sticks and the case closed fine

You make a good case (pun intended) for the controller that will take your phone with case installed. That IS a big improvement. I had that problem with my first Osmo gimbal. DJI definitely needed to make devices that would handle a phone without having to remove it from its case. It is also good if you need to save some bucks on your drone purchase. (Few people with iPhone 15 Pros have that issue, however, unless they broke themselves on the iPhone 🙂) HOWEVER:
The controller with the built in screen does provide some other advantages.
    1. Some phones - ESPECIALLY iPhones - have serious troubles with any amount of added heat. Some of them actually shut down, others shut down their display. That ain't good when you're flying. Many iPhones will get plumb spastic any time their faces or bodies get a few degrees over their "critical" temp, whatever that may be.
    2. There are lots of situations when you're flying that you have needed to refer to your app that provides LAANC authorization to fly. If you are questioned by some authority about whether or not you're cleared to fly where you are, you can't show them a LAANC authorization if your phone is being used to fly the drone. Nor can you check to see if your situation has changed or a different area you're considering flying into is good to go from the standpoint of LAANC or other flight clearance issues. Keeping your phone free allows you to handle all that.
3; The built in display on the controller is brighter in NITS that the phone and will stay that way with overheating and shutting down. That brightness won't draw down the battery any faster. It probably has better anti-glare properties.
    4. If you - or your observer - needs to take or make a phone call or text, you're free to do that.
    5. Sometimes when that cop or other authority comes around while you're flying, you can show them your map that clears you to fly and other things on your phone. Can't do that if you're using the phone to fly with.
If I get one of these - which I love - I'd definitely get one with the built in screen. BUT - the good thing is that DJI does provide the option. Which is a very snart decision on their part.

I tried that controller with the same phone with a soft case and it’s fine until the phone dims the screen due to getting hot I also have The integrated screen controller, and there is no comparison its 10 times better than the phone. it’s more than an opinion I’m sure of it. I have been flying drones with phones for years and the screen is a blessing and the new screen controller with the mini 4 pro is a big improvement over the screen controller from the mini 3 pro

No doubt! If funds permits, DJI MIni 4 Pro with controller with integrated screen is sleek! Also, one doesn't have to tie up their phone/consume phone's battery life while flying. #Mini4Pro

In your case, I can see why you use that controller but from what I’ve seen on RUclips there is a way to get the FCC to work with it. Quite amazing you do the process through your phone, but it works with the RC with the screen. check the video out.
