Day 344 on the Loop and our 178th cruising day is our LAST FULL DAY on the LOOP. After a fantastic night on anchor in a secluded part of Lake Okeechobee, we awoke before dawn by the sounds of the local wildlife. Today, as we stage our wake crossing, we have a long cruise into the eastern part of the Okeechobee Waterway, the St. Lucie River.
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from the Loop,
Jennifer and Elliot

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
Thank you for following us along our journey!

Thank you for watching! This video was filmed on February 8th, 2023.
I want to thank you for all the video's of the loop. I've been watching since the beginning. I just don't understand why you don't have more subscribers to your channel. I follow around 6 boating channels and the quality and content you supply is top notch. Thank-you for all the work it took to provide this exciting voyage.
Thank you so much for watching, Ed!
Oh boy!!!! It's getting close to finish these videos😢😢😢
I think that, us; the Great Loop and boating community gave you the most subscribers to your channel.
I know you actually finished last year but these last videos are so bittersweet!
I can't wait to see what van life will bring but I think or at least hope that you got the water bug and you will return to the water!!
Love you guys!!❤❤
❤️❤️❤️ Thanks so much, Lesli! You're right about the boating community, we love being a part of it!
Just came across your channel after searching for Manitoulin Island hiking content. Now we are hooked. Nice to see you enjoying where we live in Central Ontario. Can’t wait to watch all of your videos and see what you get up to with Van Life.
Thanks so much y'all! We hope to do much more hiking with the van 😁
Nooooo! I don’t want it to end! But thanks for all the fun miles I traveled with you. Congratulations on crossing your wake.
Very much bittersweet, but you two are real pros now.
hehe, we consider ourselves always a student, but we have learned a ton!!
I only ran across your channel a few weeks ive binged your cruise while ive been laid up from a total knee replacement. I am amazed and impressed by your adaptability. The learning curve is steep but you guys prevailed with style and class.
We're olde (im 78, wife 77) and weve been cruising full-time on our sailboat for 22 years. I expect youll move on to a different lifestyle/challenge but theres many thousands of miles cruising experience you've yet to enjoy.
If youre moving on to "van life" you could make it a point to ride on every ferryboat whos path you crossed on your Loop.
Just a thought.
Congrats Gold Loopers!
Steve&Judy

Waiting for the grand finale.....!
Although I am waiting on the last video of your Loop and dreading it at the same time; I am waiting! Hope all is well! and Pivot is near Norfolk, VA right now!! :(
It's online now! Hope you enjoy it 😁 Pivot is having a great time as far as i know 😁
Long time faithful viewer; 1 mile from Indiantown Marina. You heard the correct truth about the taco truck that sits in an old 1950’s gas station parking lot. I know this part of Your loop is 3 or 4 months behind. I have loved watching Your Journey. Tim
Oh, that's cool! We were a bit sad to miss the taco truck, thanks for watching, Tim!
Conventional locks(not including lift locks [Peterborough Lift Lock], hydraulic locks, or boat lifts) do NOT have pumps, they fill and empty by gravity. When a boat needs to be lowered and the lock is in the low state, water from the higher body of water is let into the lock(gravity) to reach equilibrium (equal height). The doors on the higher body of water side open, the boat comes in, the doors close, and the water is then released from the lock through giant valves and passageways in the walls or floor of the chamber into the lower body of water. When the lock chamber and the lower body of water are equal height the opposite doors open. When being raised in a lock, the boat enters, doors on the low side close, water enters the lock chamber(gravity) either through a gap in the doors or through underwater passageways with giant valves, the lock chamber fills until it reaches the water level of the higher body of water and the doors open on the high side and the boat exits.
Are you guys getting any closer to releasing this final video? I now look for it several times per day. Very excited to see it.
We just released it!
You guys have left us with a wonderful beautiful journey. I often watch the trenk travels . I grew up on Lake Simcoe which you travelled across, Thank you
They came through my home waters too on Severn Sound. They even stayed at one of my favorite Beausoleil Island campsites...Chimney Bay.
I’ve been watching your loop all the way around. I’m looping in sections in a Ranger Tug R27 Classic (inboard diesel). I pick a loop section that appeals and trailer it there. It’s fun seeing your perspective on places I’ve been.
Point of information about how almost all locks are filled and drained. The movement of water is not done with pumps as mentioned in this video, but with valves and gravity. To fill the lock, valves in the bottom of the lock are opened and water from the upper side of the lock flows into the lock by gravity. To lower the water level in the lock, valves are opened and water drains to the lower side. Of course the locks you just transited, the water level is varied by cracking the lock doors.
As all your viewers are, I’m eagerly awaiting your wake crossing video next Sunday!
Parting is such sweet sorrow. You guys are great and thanks so much for providing content that rivals anything else available.
Good luck on all your future endeavors which you already commenced.
All the best Dee and John
I am so sad this voyage is ending. But, I am so grateful that I stumbled on your page when you first started. Its been amazing to learn and enjoy along with you. Thank You so very much for all of your hard hard work. Anyone who is planning the loop would be remiss not to take advantage of all of your info. And anyone who wants an amazing binge needs to watch all of your videos. I may start over again myself. Its been real! 🤩❣❣❣
I grew up on boats and worked on boats in my early adult life so I've had my share of "boat food"... but never have I combined the words peanut butter and ramen. 🙃
What a great second to last cruise on the loop! I have really enjoyed your cruises and am looking so forward to the last one…not because I want it to end but to cheer you on and also get teary eyed watching such a huge accomplishment❣️
When are you coming back? Missing you guys.
Soon! Almost done with the final great loop video... its great, we can't wait to release it!
Hope you guys are all right, Eagerly awaiting the loop completion video.
Can’t believe you’re almost done. Great videos. Gonna miss watching.
Eagerly waiting for the loop completion video , woooo
Enjoyed your loop trip! Thanks for sharing!😊
It's been fun following along on your journey and I'm excited for next week's video. What an accomplishment!
Thanks so much, Nancy!
So looking forward to your “crossing your wake” video!!!
Thanks so much, Jim! We can’t wait to releas it, definitely our most ambitious video yet 😁 almost done with it!
It has been a great trip, watched from the start and have to say nice work!
Nice going! great voyage.
I'm glad you got to see part of Lake O! My parents had a weekend house there while I was growing up, so I was there most weekends. I can't wait for your next upload as you will have gone right by my house here in Stuart. I could've waved to you😂. Congrats on completing the Loop!
Wow..Almost done...Nice video....Going to miss the video...
Looking forward to the Grand Finale!
Well done.
Hard to believe that there is only one episode left documenting your journey. Its gonna be kind of sad that these videos will be over and I will not have any more videos of your Loop trip to look forward to. I've been watching them since before I got my cancer diagnosis last summer and all the way through this rough stage of my life. I've certainly lived vicariously through your videos of being on the Loop even in some of my darkest days when it was touch and go for me, when it was questionable if my life was going to continue at all Thank you for being a comfort and one constant in my life throughout this ordeal. I'm in remission and hopefuliy now that my radiation treatments are now over, I am done with all treatments and I can pick up the pieces of my life and figure out what is next for me. It's still my goal to do the Loop but that is still TBD as to when or even if I will do it. I'm kind of thinking that I may do it but in sections instead of doing an entire whole trip. I'm thinking I'd get a boat like a C-Dory 25" Tomcat Cat Boat or a Ranger Tug R-27 that is towable and then other than going around Florida by water, I would tow the boat to an area and just pick sections of the Loop trip to do, say in a month or two long stretches. Here in Florida, I want to explore the waters of the Panhandle, the Keys and going out to the Dry Tortugas to spend a few days at Turtle Key where Fort Jefferson is located. Wnen I was in the Coast Guard, we used to pull our Patrol Cutter into the lee of the Fort when the wind and wave conditions got rough. We had once planned to cross the Okeechobee Waterway in our 95' Coast Guard Cutter but the water levels were too low at the time. This is a trip that I definitely want to do too. I am so glad that you came this way, so I could see what this trip is like. I've watched other people's videos of making this trip, but as always, I think the way that you film things, best captures the essence of the places you go. If you guys are ever in the Orlando area, let me know. I live in Clermont now and would love to have lunch with you guys to just chat. Thank you for having documented your Loop trip so well! I've certainly enjoyed going along for the ride!
We always appreciate your comments, Michael, and are happy that your recovery still seems to be going strong 💪 We love your plan, you'll be out there in no time!
Thanks for the tip on mustache removal never heard of lemon juice (:o
Happy Sunny Sunday from Port Huron Michigan
Did you ever put the little sail up?
Thanks, Jeffrey!
Nope, we never got it out… cheers!
"Dolphins are the pilings that barges run into..." You had NO idea just how true that statement was a year ago when you recorded that #Baltimore
❤🎉❤. So close!! 🇨🇦
🤞🤞🤞
I've loved watching your journey. I just rewatched A+K's video when they visited you last year, and noticed your AGLCA flag changed from white to yellow. Congratulations! Can't wait to see what's next for you guys. Is Pivot still around?
Wooo! The home stretch! Cannot wait to see y'all cross your wake 🎉🙌🏼
So. close. 👏👏👏
Did you guys change home port? There is a boat at AYB (5-3-24) that looks just like yours. Rigged similar to yours on RUclips. Named PIVOT. But it's home ported in Florida.
You've spotted the new Pivot! That's the same boat, but new owners and their doing the loop this year 😁
What did you mean when you said all the other locks used pumps? The Erie Canal uses no pumps.
We thought the Erie Canal did use pumps, but you're right; it checked up on it, and it looks like it doesn't. Sorry about that!
Was great watching you guys do the Loop.👏 Are you guys selling Pivot?
NO!!! Don't be done! You have to do the loop again and make more videos!
😂😂😂 Maybe one day we will do the Loop again, and go for platinum!
I so would have did the whole lake from the Moore haven cut. Just to do it.
Is tomorrow The Day when we finally get to see your final installment? The suspense is killing me. 😂
Unfortunately not :( Still hard at work on it, though! If everything goes according to plan, it'll be done by the end of this upcoming week! shooting for Friday 🤞
What happened to you guys? I've been following you for the whole trip and now you dropped off the map? Hope everything is ok. Rich
Hi Rich! The final video is live!
Lake Michigan is totally in the US, and at a depth of 900+' much deeper /larger than Okeechobee 8-12'.
Yes! That is the first largest freshwater lake and Lake Okeechobee is the second!
Enjoyed your adventures from the start to finish but have just one question? How did you handle the Mississippi and Ohio River currents at the mouth of the Ohio? Love standing in the park where the River join together but was totally surprised at the current at that point in the Rivers. How hard was it going from the Mississippi to the Ohio River?
You can check out that video! But in general, it wasn't too bad. We just slowed down considerably when entering the Ohio River. The conjunction was very large so navigation was easy, except there was a dredging operation which made it slightly more challenging. Cheers!
They always seem to be dregging in that part of the river. Looking forward to your next adventure
When is your final video of the loop? I keep checking to see it if I missed it.
It's coming soon (TM). we're still working on it, but it should be out this week! We can't wait to share it
@@SchoandJo good to hear. I’ve followed you since the Carolina’s I think???? Nit missed an episode. Couldn’t wait for the nExt one after I’d watch one. Thus one you made a cliffhanger. lol. Your trip looked amazing. Wish we were doing the loop now. Thank you for Sharing and making it fun and interesting.
You haven't posted for a while, are you going to continue to post??
haha we won't leave you high and dry on the final video! That would be awful.. Stay tuned, it's coming out soon, we are almost done with it! You'll see why it took so long when it comes out 😁
Now Ollie can make the claim of being an experienced "Salty Dog".
Waiting for your last episode🙂 I check for the posting every day.😕
Still working on it! but it's turning out really good... shooting to release it this week!
Is a van next?
So you can take the whole rim canal all the way around the lake?
Yes! The last few miles are more exposed but technically you are on the rim 😊
I know you have gone 6000 miles but I am curious to know how many hours you ran your engine n n
Where is the next video? Is Scho and Jo okay?
We're alive! We've been 100% focused on making the last video great, and will release it when its done! It's close to being finished 😁
@@SchoandJo Oh, thank goodness, had me worried. I have been checking daily for the "Crossing Our Wake" video!
So, where is the final video showing you crossing your wake., C'mon, guys it has been a long journey, don't leave us hanging.
It's up now!
Are you kids ok? I am not ok. I tore my meniscus. I need real, decent, content and I need to know what happened at the end of this voyage! 😮💨☹😩
Oh shoot, that sucks! Sorry that happened to you Lynn! Yes we're good, just hard at work on this last video, we can't wait to release it. Been working on it for a few weeks, and will release it as soon as we can :)
@@SchoandJo Oh good to hear youre all ok. I'll be calmer now as I wait. Tell Ollie I said hi!
Sold Pivot ???? Is it over ? Are you going to post the last video ??? Ever ?? Disappointed!
We've shared that we were working on this video on the community tab, and that its a long one you must have missed that notice. Its online now!
