Now you are getting into my old stomping grounds. My Dad's half brother was the first building inspector in Southport way back in the 1960's. I grew up just north of there on the ICW in Wrightsville Beach NC.
Awesome vlog you guys -- they just keep getting better & better! Beautiful mix of 'real boat life', useful real world info, and gorgeous scenery with perfectly chosen musical support -- a real treat, Thank You!
You guys are very interesting to watch. I am learning a ton, as I'm sure y'all are also. I never realized everything that goes into being successful long term boaters. Have a blast😁😁
If it’s any consolation my dog peed in a human bed this week😆 but in all seriousness I genuinely enjoyed watching your enthusiasm in this video! You make boat life look easy🤙🏻
Another super video of your daily adventures. You guys are too hard on yourselves. You both did a great job backing into to the stall (which I did when I could), you did same good job leaving dock and could not have done any better at fuel dock either. Experience builds confidence and should, at some point, start reducing your (especially Jo's) stress. Pat yourselves on the back for doing such a super job. I love the "pivot" bridges you passed through on the journey, they are cool. Hugs to Ollie as always. Aloha!
Pilings are there to bang on or "pivot" your boat if needed. So, it's okay to rub them on your rub rail. Just keep your swim platform off of it. Great video!
My husband and I love watching you two!!! Haven't missed a single post and love how you are learning the loop together. You are inspiring so many so keep up the great work. It's also been very cool to watch how you have been evolving the production of your videos. Thanks for posting and sharing so consistently, we really have enjoyed cruising with you virtually.
Yup good O'l Myrtle Beach on a Friday,, wait till the weekend... Smokers ~ pontoon ~ little and big boats ~ We go out on Thursdays south end a lot less crazy , nice areas to hang out and chill.
I envy you kids. We can't wait to start cruising. We had just bought a 40 ft Ocean Yacht Inc. Trawler. Unfortunately it is going to requires a lot of work. I believe it will take me about a year. I plan on starting a RUclips channel to show all the progress. Any word of wisdom on creature comfort. Things I wish I had. Keep the videos coming. Thanks and stay safe.
Awesome! You’ve started the journey already! Good luck with the YT channel and drop us a line on email our ig if you have some questions with anything!
I really enjoy seeing what you three are up to…missed seeing you there for a few days! I love Ollie’s personality and comments…she’s so funny! I hope you have had success with training her to “go” on her grass patch! Safe travels you three!
Great job today!! There are sooo many folks that are oblivious to rules of the road ect. we experience that problem quite often. We cruise on the West coast intercoastal, between St Joseph Sound and Tampa Bay. Lots of narrow passages and speed restrictions to no avail. We experienced a 3 to 4 foot wake on our stern from a passing 38 footer. Captain was oblivious to what his boat was creating....This is one of the reasons why you should have to be licensed to operate....Sorry...another law to control us...for these reasons.
A very successful day and hats off for the performance. Hope this makes it easier for the next challenge, Enjoy the evening and all is good except the grub. I think the area is noted for its bar-b-cue. Enjoy
Excellent video. Loved the whole thing. The editing and music were spot on. The bloopers are also great. LOL @ your feet are sweating. I'm a new sub. I'm an RVer, but I love boats. Do I have one? No, but that just might change. If my wife says let's get a trawler, we'll get one lickity split. Take care, and enjoy the Loop.
Welcome to NC! Looking forward to your vlog covering the Dismal Swamp Canal. An alternative route would be the Chesapeake/ Albemarle passage (think that's the name - been so long ago). Now known as the Great Bridge lock/ park (according to Google maps). Is it possible to include photos of the Elizabeth City Marina - be interesting to see how that has changed since I was last there. Happy cruising! Remember it's 5 o'clock somewhere.
Thanks Bob! We went to the Virginia Cut but did the dismal swamp last year. I'm not sure the Elizabeth City Marina though! Are those the docks along the wharf? Cheers!
@@SchoandJo Originally, there were 3 -4 long docks, that jutted out from the shore, now it looks like the docks are gone, and limited space for boats to tie up along the wharf.
Hi Guys, I've missed ya. I thought maybe Elliott fell off the Boat again ... lol But Seriously, I'm Glad your Safe and living the Dream ‼️ I always enjoy your videos and look forward to your Future Adventures‼️🙂
love your videos, i was going through withdrawel because it has been a few days since you posted. where are you now, i am in Wilmington at the Port City Marina.
Hey Michael! Make sure to stay tuned on our Sunday Summary - "schoandjo.com/sunday-summary" to see where we are real-time! We are currently in Annapolis for the Naval Academy Graduation, our videos are about a month behind real time. Thanks so much for watching!
The small Japanese boat that you passed just left Deltaville after being here for about 2 years. He took him 6 years to get to Deltaville from Japan He’s 76 years old. The boat builder and his wife came over earlier this year to put a new motor in it before he left to head back to Japan. He says it should;d take him about 2 years. Its a “WOODY” a small hand built wooden boat. We spent many days taking.
That was actually on the slower end for us, since we didn't want to wake the docks - maybe 5kts? Our top speed is probably 8.5 kts but cruising is 7kts!
Hi…you guys are by far the best at documenting the loop journey! You remind me of the great sailing couple “liin & Larry pardey * They built and cruised the world in their self built cutter Sarifin - you may be interested in looking them up . I intend on starting the loop in the spring ( if my boat is ready…I’m building it j) it’s small (20’ ) diesel. Like you it will be a 5 knott boat . So here’s a question..how bad /dangerous was it crossing NY harbor ? Beings slow ( me and the boat ) I admit to a certain amount of trepidation. Did you cross on a week day or weekend ? Side note: still concerned about the number of turns at the helm it seems to correct course …have you checked the fluid level? Perhaps air in the system. Sorry I know it’s none of my business . Cheers…thanks for the info..looking forward to your videos.
Good luck getting out there William! Don't worry too much about New York Harbor, we didn't feel pressured, unsafe, or too crowded going slow. Time your tides and you'll get an extra knot or two and it'll help 😁
Welcome to N.C my home state. You all are doing great. Was that the first time since leaving Florida that you refueled? If it is you are getting great mpg.
Typically you would set up your spring lines in a cross at the side of your boat, i.e. forward-mid-ship to aft-mid on the dock and visa versa - then have a little more slack in your bow and stern lines!
No we haven’t added any biocide, might do that at some point. I heard that most marine diesels contain additives already? Ollie is absolutely the boss / princess!! Thanks for watching Jeffrey!

100% agree regarding keeping them off the swim platform! It is very unforgiving when you hit it 😁

Sound's like y'all have figured it out! We pushed it by traveling through on a Friday, and last year on a Sunny Saturday was a big error 😁
I love Southport and Baldhead Island. I highly recommend a day trip on Baldhead if you are ever in that area again.
Sweet, thanks for the recommendation!
You two are made for each other. Good driving today first mate ‼️✌🏻️👍🏻

great cruise, put out as many fenders as you want ,and remember go as fast as want to hit something .😊

Thanks for watching and commenting James 😁
Thank you guys so much for your videos you have inspired me to do the loop next year.

Sweet, thanks for coming along! We may do life on the road at some point so who knows 😁 there are a lot of similarities between trawlers and RVs!

Good day. I am convinced that Miami area is the worst for boats waking you.

Your cinematic skills are awesome…but, you’re right; we tune in because of Ollie. You guys are okay but dog faces rule 😉
Haha we don't take any offense, dog faces do rule 😁
Sorry...that's a pet peeve with me!! Great video though...
give Ollie a couple extra tummy rubs from West Florida
Done 🐶🐶🐶

Elliot are you using a biocide in your fuel tank?
Ollie is the "Boss Dog"
Stay safe.
No we haven’t added any biocide, might do that at some point. I heard that most marine diesels contain additives already? Ollie is absolutely the boss / princess!! Thanks for watching Jeffrey!
diesel is $7.50 a gallon in new england
Ouch! Gonna be some fun bills for the next few months!
Tofo scramble? Doesn't sound good.
It’s very delicious!
Not Bad Boaters, Bad People that shouldn’t have bought a boat!
