- Today is a huge day for the Pivot Crew. After over a hundred locks and thousands of miles of cruising, today is our last day in fresh water and our last lock! The river is still in a flood stage so it might just be on of our hardest yet!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from the Loop,
Jennifer and Elliot

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
Thank you for following us along our journey!

Thank you for watching! This video was filmed on December 20th.
I have really enjoyed watching this whole thing. I'm going to hate it when you two complete the Loop. I hope you two will have another adventure to video after this. Take care, and stay safe.
Alright, I have to chuckle a bit, since I have been watching for a loonngg time. (My parents and I are sailors) When you wore those gloves initially, Jen, absolutely hilarious, then later you were like "meh". Ollie loving chasing & swimming for the rocks. Documenting this journey which I wish I was on..but life gets in the way (caring for my 86yr mom 24/7) Everyone who watches..DO NOT WAIT, GO NOW. Be well
Totally agree, and it's never too late for you, too, Ann! Of course, right now, you have other responsibilities, but try and find a way to go after what excites you!
I have watched every single episode since you started your boat adventure. Even though I know it has all come to an end, I hate to see it happen. It has been an amazing journey for you guys, you have both grown and became capable boaters, and you have shown the world just how kind and lovely you both are. Thank you for bringing me along, via my computer screen, I have enjoyed every minute. I wish you both the best in the future in everything you do. Happy travels!
Thanks for coming along with us Ken!
Congradulations! You guys did a great job!
that dudes a trooper for allowing ollie on the tender a second time after her stunt
haha, no doubt!
Wow! Highs and lows indeed.
She has been listening to you guys. She knows something is happening. Animals are not stupid. Ollie is stressed! but she will get over it soon.
I'm continuing the adventure with you and enjoying every facet of your journey. I've especially liked your mid-west river video segments and onion peeling bits of nostalgia as the end of the loop advances. You've personalized your experiences remarkable well and it gives me great pleasure to know that planning and constructing infrastructure features such as the Tenn-Tom Waterway are valued by you and your Looper friends. Looking forward to traveling with you across the Gulf and beyond, thank you for allowing us to travel with you on this journey.
Thank you for the kind note and for watching Terry!
Great "lock review & remember" video - thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
My fave was the Big Chute which is how I found your channel. It is not technically a lock, however it served the same purpose. My 150lb Newfoundland had diarrhea in my new Harley Davidson Ford F-250 that had a beautiful black interior. Of course when we get back to the truck he is excited to see us and wags his tail slinging the you know what everywhere! That was a days work cleaning that up yet we still love them!
Haha that sounds like quite the clean up!
Great " locking " enjoyed this content.
Awesome video. Nice seeing a review of the locks... Close to the end..
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Awesome accomplishments
Our dog also is not a fan of getting a bath but we have figured it out. We tell her the bath fairy is coming. While I am bathing her, my husband, Kenny, hides treats around in the house. When she is done she knows the treats are out there hidden around the house. Of course it takes a couple bath times to figure it out but she knows very well now. The bath fairy is awesome. 😊🐶
Oooh smart! I really don't understand it because when she gets a bath, she gets treats, but still, she hates it. She'll jump in the water looking for rocks with no issue though... maybe we need to give her a bath (and toss things inside) instead of a shower (although thats not practical in a boat lol).
I knew that when your first topic of discussion in this video was about Ollie rolling in some poo. I'm surprised that this never happened before this. She is just doing what a dog does. Just as bad as them rolling in some poo, is when they roll around in dead fish that wash ashore. I'm so glad to hear that Jenn likes the rivers so much. I fell in love with them when I was a young child and I still love them after all these decades. To me, there is something special about rivers. You could go through a couple more locks if you transit the Okeechobee Waterway. That's an interesting trip.
Not rolling in poop but she's rolled in other stuff, so this was a new take on it 😁 Hopefully, a one and done lol
if you haven't used pooph before, I recommend. great for taking away smells without just covering them up. love the channel
Never heard of it, thanks for sharing!
15:59 was that the Channel marker from
The barge?
And Jen you look amazing in this video, must have been the excitement of getting out of fresh water and into salt water where the warmer temps are!
I don’t want too see your journey end!
Oh wow. I really like watching Jen’s reactions. This is educational for me having been raised in rough salty water and my Debbie being raised on land. I like a little wavy open water, but my Debbie not so much. Seeing Jen’s reactions gives me that sense of fear Debbie must be feeling (if it’s rough, I drive the boat versus look for a reaction, my attention being a little focused) and so I’ve gained more appreciation watching Jen’s reactions from our land home. 😮. Like y’all said in an earlier episode - “we do this for pleasure”. Truly.
Thanks Ben! It's nice being able to relate as we can all help each other 😁
I have been following off and on…we are near Big Chute and it was exciting watching you go through back when.. Also through the locks at Rice Lake and Peterborough Lifts Locks..…family all over. . Spent many hours at both locks over the years. . Congratulations on all your efforts. You have taken an amazing journey.
Thanks!
We have been watching you guys all the way from where this started in the keys. What an amazing trip this has been .We were really excited when you guys came down the erie canal pretty much 1/4 mile from our home. You guys make a great team its going to be really sad seeing this come to an end.Jen that is such a great saying its not a vacation its an adventure well said
Thanks so much for watching!
Ollie cracked me up barking at the huge log!
haha, i mean what did she think she was going to do?? 😝
Congratulations for completing your LAST LOCK!
🥳
Poor Ollie! She probably felt bad for rolling around where she shouldn’t have. On the bright side! She created memories! ❤
Great perspective 😁
Now for all the salt water deposits which have to be tended and leaving the fresh behind. No more swimming of the side of the boat and collecting crab pots as you travel the gulf. Enjoy
Jenn, please let me know if you have created a menu list because I am realizing that one of my favorite things about your videos is the meals. I have come to look forward to those detailed descriptions…. I am on a heart healthy diet called pritikin and seems like much of what you prepare fits perfectly. You guys are living the dream and although my dreams took me a whole different direction, I hope to live that dream in retirement, in about 7 years. God Bless all 3 of you!!
7 years will fly by! If we create a menu list or recipe book we will let you know, cheers!
The great loop cook book 🤔
Great idea! Maybe one day
🇩🇰 you are good. 👍👍🇩🇰
Can't believe this is almost over 😪 Oh and I feel your pain with dogs and poop. I have two dogs and the neighbor has 3 horses. Add to that deer and rabbits and fox and cats and omg my life is a constant replay of walks and washes 🤢😬 Right now its -10 with a windchill feels like of minus 31! All the 💩 is frozen solid. Even our own🤣 Have a great weekend!
haha- have a good weekend as well!
Oh I bet it was a little bittersweet to go through your last lock! I think Ollie was really upset knowing the last lock was coming so she decided to roll in poo! 😂 I love dogs but they can be gross! 😂
haha maybe that was it!
Well know you need to ebike and do west Coast the 101 lol
haha that would be awesome!
What do you mean garlic toast doesn't fit in with soup...?😅
haha probably a normal baguette or french bread would have fit better
while said you are putting the date in your description, you are not putting in the year any more... aren't you over a year behind ? and what you doing now ? stay safe, Tim and Cat
Right now, we are just full-time releasing these videos; 3 videos a week is all consuming 😁 Check out our email list for what's next! These videos are all from our 2022-2023 Great Loop
That's so gross!! Our old dog did that, and the smell was SO BAD! Must have been especially fun in the small space of a trawler.😉
haha thats why she got two baths pretty much immediately... unfortunately it wasn't all the way gone even after that
When we Loop we're going to post videos simultaneously (thx auto spell) so our adoring fans can line the shore and throw money at us.
Good luck!
Ohhhhh Kaaayyyyy. Let us know how that works 😂
OMG, Jen your face was so tan in the Big Chute Lock, super cute. I love this vlog, woo hoo last lock. So excited for y'all.
haha, you can really see the difference! Thanks for watching Bell
Yup dogs do that.
Question - what do you have Pivot and your USCG NO. written on your USA flag. Is there a specific reason for this?
Good question! I think mainly because the P.O. had it there? It’s nice because some locks ask for that number and it’s easily available!
Thanks Ollie…I WAS eating breakfast when I started watching this. 💩🤮 😆
😂 she says sorry!
Maybe the dog is saying she's had enough?
Enough of what?? Getting treated to new sniffing grounds daily, snuggling in the cloak of slumber, and helping out by pre-cleaning our dinner dishes? Rough life, haha!
Like your videos and also planning to start the Loop in 2025. Tried to purchase the spreadsheets of your website but it will not take my Canadian address. Please fix it.
Hi there! Thanks for trying to purchase the spreadsheets. I'm sorry it isn't working for you! Can you send me an email to contact@schoandjo.com with your address and I'll get to the bottom of it. Thanks!
Ollie just being a dog. Be glad it wasn't a dead animal (skunk) or worse. Mine would get running start and almost dive sideways into it!
haha I bet that's cute to watch.. not to smell though 😂
My guess is that dogs do that instinctually to disguise their scent as a predator.
Could be!
You now need to Pivot into somwthing more enagaging. Being on Pivot was amazing but it limited your chances to get more enagging stories around people. I am following the channel when you were India, but I don't think a lot of your audience stuck to the channel which you would have gained from comparitively more enagaging content and spontaneity of it. You deserve a lot and may achieve it all this year.
Nah the boat content is awesome. I was hoping they would just do another loop, but I don't think that is happening.
Thanks for your opinion
since this was at least a year or two ago what are you two doing now, are you still together and adventuring?@@SchoandJo
Only this past year! And yes to both, stay tuned 👍@@joeshmooo5327
No one knows why some dogs insist on rolling in stinky stuff. Prolly some primal instinct. In my experience the ratio is one dog out of fifty. Only one way to avoid it, get a different dog. Sorry. 😢
haha well we won't do that! all it means is more baths for Ollie 😁
