If you're still out there, thank you! Just went through and disabled UPNP and it worked like a charm! No need for me to reset the modem or anything. Thanks so much for posting this 7 years ago as it's still helping people today!

i have disabled the upnp, but still when i update BF4, after it finishes up, error 800233EF pops up.

I have a router not a modem and I reset the UPNP and nothing changed, my ps3 still has a error pop up within the first 10 min of download, please help!

Am getting error code 80710723, since sony released firmware update 4.81 on November 1st, did numerous things Google said, resetted modem & router, turned off ps3, i turned off all other WiFi device as they said it's slowing down the network, one said to connect the controller to the usb cord, some said disable media servers & Upnp, I tried different Dns numbers. Nothing works at all and now I tried a different internet and now it's saying 80710736 while doing connection test!!! Am all out out options

also worked for me! thanks man! what i did was disable the UPNP settings in PS3 and also the UPNP settings of the modem. didn't need to upgrade the modem's firmware nor did a full reset.
I got software update 4.78 while my minecraft CD was inside and when I got back the minecraft updates were erased. now im trying to restor but it keeps saying the same error 😢

Very helpful. i wasn't trying to download anything. I went to network setting, reset my connection and disabled UPnP. Connected right away. I was getting error code 80710736 while trying to connect PS3 online.

I bought GTA 5 for my 12gb ps3 and the first time I downloaded it, it downloaded all the way then said not enough memory. I put my laptop hdd into my ps3 and it seems to have accepted it but now when I try to download it says error and signs me off wtf is going on?
I try and update battlefield hardline and battlefield 4, if I do this does it reset the game data? (Just to be safe)

Great, I disabled the upnp thing and now *NOTHING* works. And I can't figure out how to change it back?!?
Go to internet connection setting keep going over and then it will ask you enable or disable the upnp

This happens almost non-stop for the passed 2-3 month but not with updates but with logginig into PSN. Only two times my ps3 showed me 80710736 error, all the other times it simply says that there was a timeout for connection request.
