Played rugby league and Union for 15 years my step son has started at age 7 he utterly adores it comes off the pitch with a black eye last week and looks up at me saying I see why you love this 😀 never been prouder
Cricket has no gloves to catch with [apart from the wicket-keeper] and only the batsmen and wicket-keeper have leg pads. Our sports [which include the invention of American 'Football'/Ice Hockey/Hockey and baseball] are for men. Americans softened it up by having gloves/pads/helmets and offensive/defensive teams/many breaks and stoppages etc.
Hate the stoppages. Let the game continue!! Love seeing the guys being tough and not whining about getting absolutely leveled on some of these hits! Also, the one handed catches in cricket are fun to watch
This is a mixture of clips from two different but related sports - most of the clips were Rugby Union, but there were some Rugby League ones too (they're quite similar - like American Football and Canadian Football). The only padding most rugby players wear is a gumshield, possibly a leather headcap, and some strapping on the shoulders. Where I live (New Zealand) Rugby Union is the national sport... we breed 'em tough down here!
we play like this at school, all lads learn how to play, only at that age we would not have any anger control but thankfully we are lighter, i was tackled on concrete and could not see anything if i looked down for a few hours, worse is cricket, you do not know pain in sport until you get a cricket ball to the face
Thats insane! I’ve always thought the cricket ball was hard as a rock, is that true? Make sure to subscribe for more Rugby and Cricket content!! I wanna watch a live match
I played rugby union at school and for a short time after school. When I was 14 I was 6ft 2 tall and 15 stone, 210lbs. We played hard. There were injuries I had 5 broken ribs in 1 game. It was fun. Great game teaches you respect
@@themeagler I played American football for a while on the 80's. Was injured playing that too 😹 I got bored with the stop, start of the game. I prefer watching it now. Glad I played it though
@@themeagler because its a continuous game the game carries on once ball is released next player can pick ball up so on and so on. Rugby does not stop when a person is tackled like American football.
@@themeagler This is one of the differences between Rugby Union and Rugby League. In Union, the tackles are contested and play does not stop. In League, the tackles are uncontested, only 6 tackles, play stops for the next tackle, though they don't stop anywhere near as long as in NFL. A few seconds at the most.
If you like rugby there are two codes (two sets of rules). "Rugby Union" is more complex to get to understand but a much better game to watch for tactics). "Rugby League" is most like the NFL and much easier to pick up all the rules. ALSO we have AFL (Aussie Rules Football) in Australia. Aussie rules is a different game all together and a mix of basketball, NFL, Rugby, soccer... Have a watch of all 3 codes too find one that speaks to you most.
These players know that they're gonna get hit... when you know it you know how to protect and get up again. USA football, with all its padding, helmets and protection instills a false sense of security. The USA protection is next to useless, especially the ridiculous helmets.
Rugby is a lot more than big hits, its about passing running, kicking keeping the ball alive ... to understand the sport more take a look at 32 great rugby Tries (touchdowns) ruclips.net/video/dG2mPvMbVp8/видео.html
Yeah, you guys do 'American football' padded like you're dangerous prisoners. Rugby players are real men. And what's with all the "touchdown" ect. Has this guy ever watched rugby before?
No, this guy had not watched Rugby before when I originally posted this. That’s why I was giving my reaction for the first time seeing it. Yes, I am from America, and yes I agree rugby players are real men after learning more about the sport since posting this video. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
Yeah 2 codes of footy here Rugby Union which we refer to as Rugby and Rugby League NRL which you do not refer to as Rugby you will piss a lot of people off that follow rugby league ( it truly makes us cringe when you call it rugby when it’s league.) they are 2 different games while you might see they are same they are not. Me am a rugby league fan can’t stand rugby union it’s boring.. league is a bit more full on especially when it’s the State of Origin is on NSW & QLD battle it out over 3 games who ever wins 2 or 3 games wins the trophy it’s a huge deal. It’s team mate against mate team depending what state you were born in. now you want to see big hits etc watch Rugby league. 😊🇦🇺

Rugby is a mans game, at 76 l still miss it.
You’re damn right it is John!

Never met a weak New Zealander so that makes sense!! I knew a guy in college who played Rugby and was from New Zealand. He made me feel small as hell🤣

Most of those were not fumbles, in rugby once tacked you have to release the ball usually pushing it between your legs.
Any specific reason why? Or that’s just how it’s played?

its called a try not a touch down, even though you do have to touch the ball down,

Pass not pitch. Try not touchdown. Kick not punt. Knock on not fumble. If the ball goes backwards it is fair game. 👍

I got knocked out twice
I respect that so much! Takes guts to play Rugby! My poor feeble body couldn’t handle it 🤣
I went for football, I don't like arse whoopings!
Your tougher than I.
TOUCHDOWN! Really?
Haha I know now that it is not a touchdown 🤣
it is not a touchdown it is a try
