The reaction of most of us watching Unsolved Mysteries Growing up In the 1980's. Why did my parent's let me watch this lol? Robert Stack scared the hell out of me.
Gaming Palooza Empire Speaking from similar experiences, my mom used to work overtime on Wednesdays and I remember being a wimpy ass boy, home alone, glued to the UM with all the lights on in every single room of our little apt. I recall frequently stressing out to the point of tears running down my eyes....although not actually crying...just my young teenage psychological reaction to UM. DAMN, THOSE WERE THE BEST OL' DAYS!
A client of Cindy's, Larry Mullins, claimed that the day before she vanished, she received a strange call from an unidentified person and that she was apparently upset or scared by the caller. The caller phoned the office twice while Larry was there. Larry asked her if there was something wrong, and she stated that they had been receiving several similar phone calls. However, she did not say what the phone calls were about. It is unknown if these calls are connected to the case. Another lead police had was about an unidentified man writing "I Love You Cindy - By GW" on a wall near her office. She had first noticed the writing ten months before her disappearance. The sign had been visible for six months before it was covered up. Cindy was disturbed when, just a few weeks later, the same message appeared again. Police were uncertain if the message had anything to do with her disappearance. They did question several people with the initials GW, including a maintenance man who happened to have keys to the legal office. However, there was no evidence that could directly tie him to Cindy's disappearance. In September 1981, a month after she vanished, police received an anonymous tip that claimed that she was being held against her will. The tipster appeared nervous and refused to give the investigator her name. The tipster claimed that Cindy was being held in the basement of a white house. She claimed that there were two houses side-by-side that were owned by the same family. Apparently, the family was out of town, but the son was home and he was the one holding her captive. However, the tipster did not give the address of the house. When the investigator tried to ask her for more information, the call ended. A few minutes later, the tipster called back. When another investigator tried to listen on the extension, the tipster again hung up the phone. She has not called back since, and it is unknown if her information is legitimate. After Cindy vanished, nine people were indicted on drug-trafficking charges, and many suspected that she knew one of them and was killed because she knew too much about the drugs. None of these theories have been confirmed, however.
HOLY SHIT!!! remembering being scared frozen just like this kid especially during a stormy night double checking all windows and doors were locked, (good times)something about that music theme, robert stacks voice and the chilling stories that stops you dead in your tracks but keeps you coming back for more. Still the best crime show and host EVER....CI, COPS or Americas Most Wanted has nothing on Unsolved Mysteries. Good old 80s and 90s.

I live in Santa Fe NM and remember watching this all the time growing up. It was more scary for me because they did TWO haunting episodes in my hometown. I would avoid those places like the plague!
There was a show that came on in the very early 80s called Strange but True. It might've been a Canadian program, and it's theme song would send me running from the living room with my fingers jammed into my ears. This was also creepy though but by the time this show aired I was a bit older and it didn't bother me as much.
maybe i am a bit macabre ,.... but never frightened of this this show ,.. i love the idea to solve mysteries ,..and Robert stack and his amazing voice i loved it !!! it was a eerie show ,.. but i love see updates ,......
I wonder if anyone was ever murdered while this intro was playing on the TV. That would be the worst way to die. I'd probably haunt whoever did that to me, and then I'd be on unsolved mysteries myself.
i said this on another UM theme song post, but this, along with the original NES zelda dungeon theme music are the 2 scariest songs ever made in the whole of creation. its so hard for a piece to be truly scary, but these 2 accomplish just that.
The theme music always creeped me out. The only other theme music that does that today is PBS's Secrets of the Dead. Fascinating show but dang that music creeped me out. lol
This show was awesome and Robert Stack was an amazing host. That theme though scared the hell out of me when I was a kid!! My dad even though knowing it scared me wouldn't change the channel or tell me to leave the room b/c he thought it was good for me to face my fear of scary music in his words lol.
Actually... I was smiling when I heard this theme. I thought it was a fitting theme for "Skeletor""Beastman" or "Snake Mountain"... What? I had the playsets when I was a kid.
I wouldn't necessarily say that I was frightened of the show, but it definitely creeped me out a few times. I loved the theme song though. Still do actually.
Trademark theme of my youth. Too bad when me and my classmates had to solve a mystery and I told them to do this theme, they gave me a stupid look and said what? I hated my classmates.
HellhammerSS The guy that did the narrating alone was scary in it's self with that blank look peering into your soul I would seriously shit my pants if I stumbled upon that guy in a dark empty alley late at night!

kinda like listening to the original HALLOWEEN Theme from the first movie.
I can honestly say that did scare the tar out of me as a kid.
I always thought this would be a good X-files alt theme.
To be fair, the theme song was the only scary part of the show.
The acting could be so bad it was scary sometimes. XD
I always hated when they did a computer aged photograph of what they may look like today, they always looked creepy
HellhammerSS The guy that did the narrating alone was scary in it's self with that blank look peering into your soul I would seriously shit my pants if I stumbled upon that guy in a dark empty alley late at night!
