All Stretch Armstrongs Have the Same Weakness at 2000FPS - The Slow Mo Guys - Развлечения
I can only imagine what it would've been like if the toys from Toy Story looked out the window towards Sid's house and saw these two doing this to poor Stretch Armstrong. xD
the horror!
someone who can edit should defiantly make that
The slow-mo School of body modification 🤣
Good point! LOL
If they were deviantart users they might find something awakening in them
Dan holding a water logged Stretch Armstrong toy like a teddy bear was the last thing I expected to see lol.
I saw this so now it's the first thing I expect to see lol.
Did not expect to learn that Stretch Armstrong has a tiny pee hole.
Why? They do things like this all the time. This is nothing new or unexpected.
Looked like he was about to give birth lol 😆
Reading the words "a water logged Stretch Armstrong" was the last thing I expected to read
The "discovery" was absolutely hilarious. I noticed that in the slow mo the first times around. I think it's because the ink used very slightly weakens the rubber material.
The injection mold for creating the skin would have a sharp angle where the crotch is, which would make less rubber collect at that point vs cavities like the hands and feet which would collect more rubber. Hence why the hands and feet barely inflate at all and the crotch area is the weakest.
Nah. It has to be something to do with the formation of the item itself. My money is that that's where the injection is for the mold's lower part.
I think it's just where there'd be the most tension on it
Just had an idea for a video- woodwork on a lathe. It spins fast, chips fly everywhere, and I’d be very interested to see how exactly the wood breaks up during the process
Stretch Armstrong is 46 years old, you'll have as much trouble controlling your bladder at that age after drinking that much water! Classic Gav & Dan silliness in this video, can't wait for the next!
Hey Kurt! I still remember your collab with Gav :)
They stretched him from the inside bro
Taking a break from traveling to the edge of the world?
Wow I didn't expect to see you here! :D
At 46? Jfc
When I was a kid, I had a Stretch Armstrong. My younger brother and I wanted to see how far we could stretch the guy. At the top of the stairs was a landing that overlooked the stairs. My brother sat on the landing and held Armstrong’s hands while I want to the bottom of the stairs and grabbed his feet. Just as I started to swing, Armstrong ruptured on his side, from his elbow to his hip. That slimy sticky goo went everywhere: in my hair, on my face, and into the carpet on the stairs. It was a disgusting mess and great fun.
I bet your mum was not much pleased
I bet your parents were super pleased too 😂
I believe it's corn syrup in there, I can't imagine the cleaning process, and rip your hair at the time.
Sounds like you might of been dreaming and your uncle woke you up.
@@ThatBugBehindYou yes, you’re right. It’s gelled corn syrup.
I'm betting that they use a syringe to fill it with the gelled corn syrup, and that's the point of weakness when it's stretched to the limit.
Oww... they jam the syringe into his crotch
Why the crotch though
In return of that weakness; peeing
yep
That's a brilliant insight, it definitely explains why this was more than a coincidence. Makes me wonder, what if they got their hands on a stretch that hadn't been filled up, would he have blown up even bigger? Though I'm guessing based on how strong the material is (I honestly didn't expect it to be that strong), probably the new weakest point would be where they cut it for the hose? (Not 100% sure since it kinda boils down to how the zip ties mitigate that, or other stuff like that...)
I actually did have a stretch armstrong as a kid (He did not look like the one you have now, he was 15" tall and had a black shirt on.) And I actually pulled and stretched it so much that it ripped open a little bit and that's how I found out they had that thick, sticky, syrupy stuff inside to give it that unique tactile feeling it had. It was an extremely satisfying toy to play with. One of the all time greats.
How did it taste?
🤨
@@matthewnienkirchen8083 You should also buy some of these toys for people who cannot afford utilities. Do something good for once you know?
@@buriedwords Nah, people like that just nag, they never actually do a single good thing in their lives. The people that do the most good in this world, don't act like him.
@@matthewnienkirchen8083 wait a minute, I literally do everything you just said word for word. Wow, what a small world we live in! If you want a recommendation on a soup kitchen let me know. I can hook you up with some good ones that need help. I also run a few of my own :D
I'm so glad Gavin noticed that in editing. I noticed it immediately and cry laughed for about 10 minutes
SAME! I scrolled down to the comments thinking "surely SOMEBODY else has to have seen this, right?" and there was disappointingly little. But Gav pulled through!
@@LeonardoMastrogiovanni perhaps because it was pointed out in the video, less people felt the need to comment with "I can't believe they didn't notice/talk about..."
I was gearing up to make such a comment myself before the cut to the edit suite. It was hilarious.
@@coryman125 lol literally just made a comment about it. Actually made 2 because I replied to my own when I saw that the same exact thing happened on the second burst. Seems like he has a weakpoint right in his crotch. He does a little wee and then he explodes :D Im only just now seeing them comment about it when editing
Hahaha I am so glad 199 of us noticed that and all had the same idea
Yes
You can really tell that Gav is the best in the business when it comes to slo-mo. The amount of times he has to guess where the focal point of the shot is gonna be and then absolutely NAILS IT the first time is incredible. Especially for just silly backyard projects like this that barely make a dent in his income.
focus seems the easier part, it's nailing the exposure (especially with fire and explosions) that blows my mind. He's able to combine technical expertise with childlike creativity which really is the best combination.
Barely make a dent? Sadly, this video alone will make more than I do in a year on disability.
@@Dan-Simms no, you got that wrong. it's good that it makes him money, nothing sad about it. your income is the sad part, especially if it's small because of a disability. but that is not related to what they make with the video, so it shouldn't be mixed in the same comment.
@@Dan-Simms probably not tho. RUclips generally pays around $1000 per 1m view so unless this goes very viral I doubt they will outpace disability income
@@Dan-Simms I think he meant it's not costly to make this kind of video. Not much money spent on 4-5 toys to destroy. Compared to some of their grander projects.
Honestly, this feels like an early 2010s RUclips video and it’s giving me so much nostalgia.
I would suspect that the weakness is caused from the injection of the blue coloring into the mould.
That last zoomed shot was legitimately beautiful when it popped. You guys never disappoint
i had the same thought. i was stunned by the last shot
No one noticed the crotch peeing
The audio track choice for that final Stretch Armstrong was really one of the best things you guys have ever done.
And you guys have been consistently amazing since day one so that's a high bar.
Indeeed
Legendary SloMo Guys moment indeed
It's the "ohh" after the leak that got me laughing
Agreed. Hilarious
This is the kind of high quality informative content I watch RUclips for.
When Stretch Armstrong said he wanted his body donated to science I don't think he expected this to be an experiment it'd be used for.
This is easily passable as an episode from the mid 2010s. And I couldn't be happier about it.
Underrated comment
crazy how we can already say something was from "the mid 2010's"
Not sure if this has been suggested before, but a SloMoGuys/NileRed collaboration would be amazing! Would love to see more crazy chemical reactions in top tier slow mo
That would be amazing
YES!!
Absolutely!
Super clear and slow footage of the test tube rockets Nile did would be amazing! I think I even commented that on his video 😂
I highly recommend this video by thunderfoot about metallic water ruclips.net/video/Vdz18ibX7rE/видео.html
9:35 The music! 😂
As I recall, the original Stretch Armstrong dolls were significantly larger than the modern ones. Also, this would be a fascinating physics demo. Thanks guys!
They still make them in the original 15" size, but mostly, they sell the smaller version. The trunks are all painted on now, though, whereas the original had fabric trunks.
That last edit of the close up was nothing short of majestic, thank you Dan and Gav for giving me such useless but wonderful knowledge
The choreography was spot-on in a LOL sort of way.
The glorious music built up even more suspense in an extremely satisfying way.
The things that Dan has done over the years simply for the entertainment of strangers is amazing.
Surely he must be approaching National Treasure status 🇬🇧
Definitely not for the likes and subscribers and youtube money.
I think its cool too that he's had that same lab coat thru all of it.
It's for science!
@@Xhopp3r Which he gets from people watching his videos. Because they're entertaining
I had to look at that thumbnail for a few seconds to finally understand what I was looking at
I would love to see a "Dan's revenge" series where Gav is the one doing all the stunts for a change 😀
And Dan does all the filming and editing too would be great
One of the "Super Slow Show" episodes came quite close
Dan takes Gav in a military style survival series for two weeks.
But then we'd get terrible footage since Dan doesn't know how to use the camera 😂
Whoever made stretch armstrong must have been waiting for someone to discover this.
Can't help but feel this speaks to the quality of manufacturing of the toy and clearly tight tolerances on material strength.
dan's "can you tie my wrists together." was like the most polite you could be while asking that question
Dan under Stretch Armstrong while it's being filled with water is an upgrade from the usual giant water balloons.
Multiple of them on a trampoline and Dan below them!
@@christophpoll784 Now you're talking!
How about he gets inside one? 🤣
@@BasenjiAdventures Oh that would be so good! Cut off the head, empty the insides, and have Dan climb inside of it!
Gav! Dan! MAKE IT SO!
I mean, it wouldn't make it, it burst open before it reached 1/4th of Dan's size but who cares, it would be so funny!
4:10 the fact you see a small stream of wee before the big boom has me dead!
I noticed that thin stream of water on the first take! I was wondering why you weren't talking about it! Then I realised that on the small camera screens out in the sunlight, it wasn't going to be easy to notice...glad you saw it though. The first one was the best though...he peed for ages before he burst 🤣 'ages' is relative of course...
That was a great edit at the end. honestly the soundtrack was perfect hahaha
That was simultaneously disturbing, and hilarious. It just seemed sooo wrong, on so many levels, at so many points throughout the video; and every step just was worse than the one before. I LOVED IT! And the tiny fistbump at the end was the icing on the moist, gelatinous cake. BRAVO, fellas! A brilliantly bonkers video. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@USCG veteran Christian gamer 1977 If you can't see the subtle hints of body horror that's implied and/or the visual similarities to actual real-life physical deformities, then you have an extremely limited, vanilla sense of humor and no f---ing imagination to speak of. And, btw, I had an amazing childhood. I not only had a Stretch Armstrong, but I had and played with, the kind of toys that have long since been considered way, way too dangerous to be sold for kids today.
You have no f---ing idea.
@USCG veteran Christian gamer 1977 Huh? The imagery is clearly slightly disturbing (yet absolutely hilarious). That doesn't mean their childhood was bad lol wtf are you on about.
@@thespankmyfrank Thank you.🍻
What was disturbing about what happened in this video?
@@thespankmyfrank what was disturbing about the imagery?
When I noticed it I was so much hoping that you guys are gonna watch it again to focus on the leaking hole, absolutely awesome
"leaking hole" being the key phrase here, naturally
I’m glad someone else noticed it before they brought it up
5:47 Eyes closed 👀
Wow, it’s cool seeing how fast the tension in Dans arms dissipate so fast in the slow mo shots
If you're curious why it keeps breaking at the crotch, there's one major factor at play, the connection point between the legs, the arms connect to the larger body individually but the legs connect to a single point together, even when you just pull one leg or the other, strain is put on that one point regardless causing more wear to that space, combine that with the fact it becomes the point of the highest resistance thanks to bending externally during inflation compared to it's natural concave design, both factors together equal repeated crotch devastation
It could also be where the goop is inserted during production
@@gbyt034 If it's still made as it was in the 70's (I had two then Stretch Armstrong and Stretch Monster) the fill point is in the neck, hidden by the plastic head.
Repeated Crotch Devastation- Metal Band from the 80s?
or they pricked it with a pin, explaining the streaming leak
I think it has something to do with the inconsistencies of the coloration of his bottoms. When it gets inflated you can see that there are spots that are darker and I think that they impregnate the silicone skin with a blue color and that makes microholes.
Love these "mucking about" type of videos! Definitely some old Slow Mo Guys vibes
The nostalgia was palpable in this one for sure
It’s always a good slow mo guys video when it has me laughing all the way through. I was laughing so hard, I was crying.
5:03 has strong “don’t ever talk to me or my son again” vibes
That was tremendous; the "skin" flies away from the rip very quickly, even in slow mo.
I liked how the water maintained its shape!
Glad you guys are still at it
Hahah the music you added was great lmao. Such a great video. That's amazing that you were able to catch that on video 😆 🤣 😂
I had caught it the first time and was surprised you didn't at first lol. Thanks for the laughs fellas
I've always wondered what the sparks coming off an angle grinder or grinding wheel look like, they always seem to explode mid-air.
It probably looks like chunks of metal disintegrating.
if you must know, it's just REALLY REALLY small parts of metal being shaved off, like i'm talking tens of thousandths of an inch.
They don't explode in mid air, they just rapidly cool and thus seem to "disappear"
Each metal has a different spark feature(they have to be ferrous to spark) so copper brass aluminum will not .
@@ScrapFatherScrapSon but titanium will
Unfortunately it would be a lot like the glitter video. The compression on RUclips wouldn't let you see to much.
The music coupled with the anticipation of the 'leak' and then the crescendo when it erupts is quite satisfying, and freakin' hysterical!
Okay, now I'm convinced that along with your incredible combined understanding of physics etc, the two of you are still little boys at heart, marveling at stretch's bungie(?) smuggler. PLEASE never lose that enthusiasm!!!
"We're in", he said as he entered Stretch Armstrong.
Very interesting
I’m amazed that there is still this many Stretch Armstrongs in the world still considering they are always being blown up, shredded, heck I’ve seen someone try to make a balloon out of one.
Well they started selling stretch armstrong toys again, probably just grabbed some of those?
@@Primucron weren't the originals made with some metal in it?
@@brandonlatzig No clue, they're before my time
@@brandonlatzig no metal in them afaik
It's because the rubber/latex perishes in time, especially under UV light. This leaves the corn syrup to fester on surfaces, stinking and ruining them.
Loving that they're back in the backyard. Really feels like we're back in the 2010's again. 😃
I always thought they were filled with sand or something, that's what I remember it feeling like when I was like eight. But i also haven't felt one since then, so the sticky goo inside was definitely a surprise lol
Wasn't there another toy similar to Stretch Armstrong where you could connect a pump to him and he would get super stiff like sand but without the pump he was rubbery.
@@chamoo232 Yeah, that was Stretch Armstrong's nemesis Vacman. He came with a bike pump that made him stiff and stretchy.
I actually did notice the first one peeing when I first saw the slow motion part. I saw that and I was like, "Wait, is he peeing before bursting?"
2:30 *Your League of Legends account has been successfully created*
I don’t get it
@@razorwolf2758 Stretch Armstrong became an League Of Legends player, and you know how they show them as obese people
@@YourNormalProgram dont give me flashbacks from that, those were the days before i directly hooked my pc up to the wifi router to stop rubber banding
I think the popping of the 3rd Stretch Armstrong was the most gruesome. The belly just splits and all the water pours out while his torso slowly deflates. lol
Stretch had a Gaston level chest hair moment in that slow mo.
That slowmo closeup at the end of what looks like a wall of water after the Stretch Armstrong popped would make a great screensaver.
If you hit his innards with a hammer, it smashes like glass, and then melts together again.. a bit like Terminator 2. I know because I was one of 'those' sort of kids.
I wonder if the hole is some kind of safety feature. We actually don't know the destructive damage an un-holed Stretch Armstrong could cause!
yeah, I reckon it's a pressure release point.
Or maybe part of the manufacturing process? Quirk of the mold or something.
@@BensBrickDesigns That's my first thought on this actually. Wouldn't be surprised if that's the point where the material gets injected into the mold.
a safety feature makes no sense, you aren't supposed to pressurize them like that, so no safety needed.
@@moos5221 i was thinking the gel may become a gas at high temperatures. Just speculation though.

It's always fun to see these two guys just messing around and having slo-mo fun.
9:30 gives such Space Odyssey feelings! Great job on editing, Gav!
Back in the 70s I had his enemy, the Stretch Monster. I did actually cut it to see what was inside and saw that exact same glue stuff. I put it in the fridge and the glue went rock hard, but obviously it just warmed up and started leaking once we took him out.
"How small is that?" "about a millimeter" "I couldn't even feel that." "It woulda been so quick as well..."
Bruh, stop he's already dead! 💀💀🤣
omg...watching this back in 4k and at 9:32, you can see towards the far right of the screen that there are super weak points in the fabric that look like holes. they're kinda all over the place, you can see some lighter spots. so it was like just waiting for a hole to breach that final layer of rubber. wild!!!
That hole must be where they inject the guts. The needle leaves such a small hole that it only opens a little bit and starts urinating when the rubber has stretched enough
That was my first thought and it seems hilarious that they fill him up from there lol
Yeah, I saw the same thing. Broke at a small needle hole.
Such a miniscule hole and such a viscous fluid would mean, that it would take ages or immnese pressure to fill, which doesn't make sense as it could be very easily filled from the head since it is not one piece. But I can imagine that the filling is some sort of polymer gel that is filled unpolymerized through the head then the head is fixed and then the polymerization is done inside the body so that the gel takes on that shape and "wants to stay that shape" and the tiny hole is where they injected, fittingly placed, the small amount of polymerization starter needed for that. That's at least my guess.
I think they must fill him from the head. That hole would be too small. But, I bet they have a small hole there to let air escape as they fill him from the head.
@@justfortheoption Apparently it's filled with a "proprietary gelled substance similar to corn syrup" so I doubt it uses polymerisation. It's likely just filled from the head, and perhaps the tiny pinhole is used to extract trapped air from the toy, or some other similar purpose?
It could also be a defect as a result of how the latex rubber skin is manufactured.
I was unprepared for how much I laughed at this.
9:38 That shot was AMAZING! Wow
so many years with you guys, thanks for this
These are my favorite - just the 2 of you in the backyard having fun! - reminds me of my childhood

this is absolutely hilarious! guys you just brought every on eos us back in good old days with this video! 😅
Was but a wee lad when i first watched you fellas. so much time has past!
When I was in college my friends had a stretch Armstrong that had a tiny hole in it. Stretch wasn't so stretch with hole in him. Rather than stretching parts of his arms and legs became hard. Because of that, we could break his arms or legs. Because that goo was goo still, it would "heal" and we could break his legs again and again and again. Strangely, it was very satisfying to do.
this is so funny
