I am so glad I ran across your channel on here. It is great getting to see these places, I never would get to otherwise. U are very well spoken & the narrative is very informative. Thank you.👏👏👏👏👏
I was born in elmhurst and lived there until I was 12 im now 28 and live in las Vegas. Thank you for bringing me good childhood memories. I used to go to that park on Elmhurst ave everyday sad to see it closed. Wow thanks
@@minglifeng2862 I think they meant less popular meaning not well known around the world. Most people in other countries will not know what/where Elmhurst is. I am Asian as well.
Great video! This was the neighborhood that i lived in from 1949-1958. At that time it was German, Irish and Italian. As I see the vast majority of the residential area has not changed.
Great fun as always and very good narrated. Brought back good times I had again in Queen's, in the 1970's, in my 20's, but as Bob Dylan, said, and still goes, Times Are Changing. I hope, alway in best ways to come. Thanks KIDO .. BIG SMILE .. Action is Action, in best ways .. KIDO
The lady didn't want to be on camera. Doesn't she realize that she's on about a dozen different cameras at any given time just walking down the street? Video cameras are EVERYWHERE now. If you don't want to be on them, then stay home and pull the shades down!
Just found your channel and had to subscribe. I am from UK and planning a trip to NYC April 2020. Loving the narrative and walks so refreshing to see a channel do this. Keep up the great work buddy.
The walk through Elmhurst was great. It is a microcosm of New York City and was mentioned in the National Geographic as the most multicultural neighborhoods in the country with more than 150 languages spoken. There are abundant and excellent restaurants in Elmhurst, many are Asian as the narrator pointed out but there are many Latino eateries representing Central and South American cuisine. I lived there for many years and I very much enjoyed visiting the old neighborhood.
Nicely done. Really cool and good info on the video. Hero 7 shoots great. Used to walk this way a few times as a youngin. Live abroad now but if and when I'm back in Queens I'm so there!! Thanks for the upload man!!!
cool! Roosevelt Ave station is my station too, moved here only in March so I'm still quite new to the area. Trying to explore more myself too. I took that same walk twice, thanks for the food recommendations (I'm too shy to simply enter a place without knowing about it beforehand either from yelp or other people, plus the language barrier is scary too lol). I also like the vietnamese sandwiches from Joju, you passed it by on the other side of the street. Anyway, thanks again for showing me around my neighborhood!
Action u keep up the great work, that lady was rude your not bothering anyone, your totally respectable always, there is always someone has to be not nice
I'm amazed how folks don't realize that when in public they are under constant surveillance. The majority of those buildings have cameras! Not to mention red-light cameras.
When you do those walk it's always fascinating in this always good to see good places that's a blessing but thanks a lot Kidd and have yourself a good day
At around 29:00 minutes you are going past what was my paper route back around 1970, I delivered the now long gone Long Island Press that would come out in the afternoons to those buildings and stores and the houses up 51tst Av. Including Gino’s pizza.
Here's some history about the Queens Center Mall.....it opened in September 1973.....for years prior to that the site was an amusement park named Fairyland.....actually the SECOND park called Fairyland...the first was built on land that is now Lefrak City....Fairyland Queens Blvd opened in 1951 and closed in 1968....it was a cute little park for people that didn't want to schlep for 2 hours in a hot subway to Coney Island
My old neighborhood 😔, put a sad face b/c Broadway Park is down. I was kinda hoping you were going to turn & walk towards 82nd street or Forley Street (around that area) I lived on Forley Street for most of my childhood & attended PS 89 I so appreciate people like you who take the time to walk around Queens. When I was younger … walking from Forley St. to Broadway Park or from NewTown HS area to 82nd street was an everyday thing Now I’m older & live on Long Island, where very few people believe in walking at all So, thanks again & if u could go by NewTown HS & that big hill over there (& there was St. Barts over the hill) … & down further, I think was/is Bittern Avenue, towards PS 89 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
They turned the building into residential units and retail and community space on the lower floors but has remained empty even though residential spaces are in such high demand in Queens. The locals are CREEPED OUT! I only know of one daycare facility as their tenant. I guess they are waiting for NYC newbies who weren't here when it was a hospital. Creepers!
I finally got my remote working. I was turning to the left to see what the Elmhurst Food Court looked like. It finally worked, I didn't know what the Food Courts looked like inside. I hope others liked the peeks into the stores as much as I did. Thanks again Kenneth.
Nice video and believe it or not but i'am from Middelburg in the Netherlands, what a coincidence. its a nice story btw how the Dutch discover Manhattan and still many names or streets are related.
34:10...that Macy's was actually around since 1965.... I've spent many a day sitting on those ledges waiting and waiting and waiting for the westbound Q60 bus.
I would go to that white Castle in the 60s they were $ 10 cents- when they had car hops- The original Macys would have been a perfect circle but the home that was there would not allow them to build over the corner of their yard-
Nice video .. but you need to spin around so folks can take in the view, I enjoyed this one because it was more random ... with cars and trucks in it ... not just people ... and I liked the buildings too.

Very good historic description, I have one correction however, the name Newtown was chosen to differentiate the new settlement from what was the original settlement along Maspeth Creek. That settlement had been destroyed in an Indian raid and many of the settlers were killed.
When I film both Woodside Stations LIRR And The 7 I actually am planning to walk from 61st to 74th St because I will be getting lunch in Jackson Heights which by walking is only 15 min
When I grew up there in the 60s we still had an iceman, coal delivery, a guy that would give pony rides, a roaming knife sharpener and you could let your kids go out on Halloween without supervision,
this is so refreshing. i live in india and if i ever decide to do a walking tour here all you'd see is poor public infrastructure, filth, noise, and chaos.

From Italy, nice video. It's nice to see less popular places. The Queens is a beautiful discovery. Small town on a human scale. Thank you Actionkid.
Not you calling one of the main Asian neighborhoods in NYC a less popular place
@@minglifeng2862 I think they meant less popular meaning not well known around the world. Most people in other countries will not know what/where Elmhurst is. I am Asian as well.

I like this community, Chinatown and Broadway thank you for the video!!
a coffe on the table, the window is open so I am ready for a nice walk ;). good morning everybody
