There are a few named pilots in X-wing that made it through the 2nd Death Star Run. Wedge PS9, Tycho PS8, Horton Salm PS8, Lando PS7, and now Jake Farrell PS7. Seems that pilot skill 7 is the lower limit of 'utter badass pilot' in the Star Wars universe
The Tibbinator That's a good point. Although, only Wedge and Lando made the full run on the reactor core; the other pilots got out of there early. Maybe Nien Nunb has a PS9 :)
I use the Millennium Falcon (Han Solo) and it is REALLY good. Usually, i barely do any damage to the opponents, but with the re-roll ability, i've been winning alot of fights in a row.
The difference in stat lines between unique and non-unique pilots makes sense for the YT-1300. In the lore, the stock ship is fairly bare bones, but comes with a tremendous amount of room for custom upgrades, which of course any self-respecting scoundrel would make ample use of. :D
LeftoverJedi2 Yep, that's absolutely right. The Falcon, of course, has a lot of custom modifications. I'm actually kind of surprised that there aren't more ships in the game that have variable statlines like this.
Lando piloted the Falcon into the Death Star with three other assistants in the cockpit. Han just has Chewie--or not, if Chewie was in one of the turrets or repairing something. So I'd say seven is plenty. :D
I just noticed that Han Solo’s card art shows the Falcon flying away from Cloud City. An interesting decision, given that Han was in carbonite at the time.
I guess an argument could be made for this not being the Falcon leaving Bespin during Empire Strikes Back, but at some point prior to that. Han and Lando clearly went back and Han would have visited Lando there before
+aaavelar I don't have any hard numbers on this, but speaking as a lifelong Star Wars fan, I imagine that there are a fair amount of fans out there who don't have a interest in playing X-Wing but who want the ships because they are so amazingly detailed out there. As a father to three kids, I don't get to play competitively as much as I'd like to, but I would buy this stuff just to put on my shelf. The detail and precision in these models is top notch.
+aaavelar I don't know if a lot of people do this, but the models for X-Wing look very nice and relatively small in size, so yeah why not just buy them for looks?
I'm researching the game out of curiosity, but more interested in playing Star Trek Attack Wing. In terms of models, I'm planning to pick up the Interceptor without getting the base set because I want that model, and am not as concerned about it being playable. I'm likely to pick up a couple of other specific ships just to have their models, too. I might eventually pick up one of the core sets and play, but it's not my primary motivation for buying my first few ships.
I just got into the game. I have in fact gotten ships just because they look cool and/or have nice flavor to the cards and hopefully play well. I haven't had time to open anything up yet I've had for a month so it feels like my carded action figures ; it'll be tough to get the expansion blister packs open with an exacto knife so I can keep them largely intact as I also like to save as much packaging as possible fwiw.
Hey Pat, i'm buying some ships to expand me and my dads ship choice for when we play. I need one large 360 degre arc for the rebs and I dont know which is better, the 1300 or the 2400. Which do you recomend? (cards in the pack don't matter for the list I'm building for my LGS x-wing)
Degly Spiderfang When the question is "Millennium Falcon or _______________" the answer is always going to be Millennium Falcon. The YT-2400 is cool, but you gotta get the Falcon. In all seriousness though, the YT-1300 is the better ship overall, in my opinion. It's also easier for newer players to play (the YT-2400 can require more finesse to play well, with the barrel rolling and whatnot).
actually, when you say "2x" that means twice in every direction, so he's correct in saying it's twice the size. I was corrected on this by a professor once. it's weird, but it's how it is.
Another insightful review. They theme these well and the card effects make a lot of sense. does anyone ever play the generic pilots apart from flying three YT's in a 100pt game as you say ? some of your rules clarification explanations would be helpful if they printed that type of info in small italics at the bottom of the card such as when you mentioned the target lock scenario imho. I picked up Dash Rendars Outrider I'm glad it has the primary weapon turret. Also interesting to note the turret arrow icon around the attack dice number. P.S. youtube needs to get rid of the thumbs down button on videos. although reverse psychology perhaps more will vote thumbs up in spite of that when they normally wouldn't. otherwise I find it uninformative insulting cowardly and offensive lol I haven't gotten around to making a video that states that but I will ; i think I get thumbs down because of my non-speaking voice (on free videos lol) but seriously there's nothing wrong with this video.
I don't think people should be unable to share their distaste for a video. I think having a downvote is a perfectly reasonable thing. I don't think they need to be advertised, though. Also, as a personal thing, I like commenting on videos to explain what I felt was wrong when I'm downvoting a video.
The only thing that bugs me about the thumbs down is that it's very rare for someone to actually comment about why they didn't like a video here. So it gives me no useful information. I generally ignore them. When I see one of my videos with a couple hundred thumbs up and one thumbs down I tend to think I'm doing something right.
I think in your channel's case, the "problem" is people not liking that you're sharing good strategic advice that other people can follow and beat them with (because they're too stupid to take the advice on board for themselves).
That's the big thing with me. I don't get any comments but do get thumbs down. Ironically when people insult me on rare occasion they do make a comment and don't vote thumbs down ; I at least have the opportunity to drill them a new one which can be catharctic ; My main problem is they're free video efforts and I'm personally insulted by thumbs down. It doesn't make me feel good ; I turn some of them off and only I can see them however even then that doesn't make me feel good about a vid I know for a fact has nothing wrong with it that someone would take the time and energy to vote thumbs down when they could simply ignore it and/or take the time to complement and critique it. Thumbs down tells me nothing about a video I haven't even watched yet. IT completely negative and uninformative is what it is. It's like if facebook had a thumbs down oh man it would star WWIII lol So I shake my head wondering what anyone could find worth of a thumbs down on a vid like this one. It's a pet peeve. But it's like what the heck I spent a lot of free time doing something interesting at the very least and they have to be anonymously negative fwiw and that's why I need to do a video saying this that would probably get more views than my regular ones and watch how many thumbs downs it gets lol
Same here its uninformative and negative. It tells me nothing about a video. Now if someone click baits and says "Full fight" or "Full movie" then thumbs downs tell you a lot lol But for grass roots free video efforts It bothers me to no end. I think my blood pressure went up just thinking about it lol I sit there wondering what are they thinking because they didn't tell me and why did they feel the need to make that effort to click. It's a pet peeve to be sure. You don't see thumbs down on idiotic comments in fact a lot are thumbs up for those lol A few other creators I mentioned that to on occasion generally aren't bothered by it but have a similar reaction as to no one leaves a comment with the thumbs down. Which actually I don't care so much for comments but on the star wars channel I have a handful of regular subs that even if they say nice video and in the analytics I can tell they didn't watch the entire vid at least it makes me feel like doing another vid ; Someone said they thought thumbs down can actually drive traffic but I'm not sure about that. Chances are thumbs down voters have no videos of their own and don't appreciate the effort it takes for a hobby for most people. It feel demoralizing lol I wont' say I'm overreacting either. If it was content that wasn't original I'd still wonder however wouldn't take personal offense to it. end rant ;
I really enjoy your thorough assessments of various ships. Keep up the good work :D
Thanks!

"Trekies are shouting "the Enterprise" at their computer screens right now."
You, sir, are a mind reader..
your channel appeared on my "things you may like" list...love it subscribed immediately. Great Work, keep it up
Matthew Eason Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad that you like the vids.

+VorpalDerringer - Good points.
"...Han Solo's hetero lifemate."
Heh.
I just noticed that Han Solo’s card art shows the Falcon flying away from Cloud City. An interesting decision, given that Han was in carbonite at the time.
Isn't it Chewbacca's pilot card that has that art?
The Cardboard Dungeon Chewbacca’s art has the Falcon rescuing Luke shortly after the scene shown on Han’s card.
I see. That is weird, FFG is generally really god about the artwork matching the lore.
I guess an argument could be made for this not being the Falcon leaving Bespin during Empire Strikes Back, but at some point prior to that. Han and Lando clearly went back and Han would have visited Lando there before
Great job on the review
Thanks!
A friend of mine buys these things but doesn't play. He just likes collecting the ships. Do a lot of people do that?

I'm getting this and the slave 1 just for the ships.

Thanks! I'll go with the 1300! I needed an experts opinion. Can't wait for your next piece(sorry for spelling) of exelance!
I know it is being picky, but the large bases are 4x as large as the small bases.
actually, when you say "2x" that means twice in every direction, so he's correct in saying it's twice the size. I was corrected on this by a professor once. it's weird, but it's how it is.
im going to buy this for my nephews just so i can play it . without feeling like i bought myself a toy
Alex EKM Santa Buy yourself a toy lol this games is for everyone most of the people I play with are thirty and above

I hope Disney never does to the Falcon, what has been done to the Enterprise so many times..
Destroyed and rebuilt? They very nearly did that in Force Awakens. I'm still not sure how it got going again after that Starkiller Base "landing."
BZZZZT!!
It's Nerf or nothin.
