@@whitesnow8370 I'm not a 100% sure...it can exfoliate the skin but I'm not sure that it can make your pores smaller...BHA (Salicylic Acid) can unclog the pores and Niacinamide can minimize the pores and regulates the oil production and even Retinol can help with that as well.
You can try it with Glycolic Acid and see if it works or not! :)

I realized after 30 seconds of burning that perhaps i used too much acid. Luckily it wasnt too bad, and with some vitamin E and cocoa butter it cleared up after about an hour or so. Thank you so much for this informative video! I really learned a lot from it!
I recently just bought the Ordinary Glycolic acid 7% toning solution but I have no idea how to include it into my routine. So far, my routine is the Cerave renewing sa cleanser, an exfoliator from Paula’s Choice 2% bha liquid exfoliant, then the Ordinary’s niacinamide serum, a Bliss drench & quench moisturizer, and unseen sunscreen from Supergoop. The night routine would be a replacement of the sunscreen with a cleansing balm. My question is how I can put the Ordinary Glycolic acid into my routine.

Yes, it is considered perfectly safe to use azelaic acid and glycolic acid together. Using both acids in your daily routine is an easy change to make for a huge impact to your skin"
I get this answer for pretty much all of them but the strong AHA + BHA peeling solution.

Thank you for your tips! Questions if you can help - I was told to purchase The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% and The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA. So I did. But from what I understood in this video, I should NOT use these 2 products together. Should I keep both - use the gylcolic acid 2 - 3x a week and then the day I'm not using glycolic I can use the Lactic Acid instead? Should I return one of them? What way would you recommend using these two products if I should keep them both?

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 года назад +2

Hm, where did you buy these products? Because both are AHA's and have similar effects on the skin. If you use them together, you will use 17% of AHA's together, and when doing that more often, it will lead to over-exfoliation, and you can burn your skin. That's very strong.
How often you can use them depends on your personal tolerance for these products. However, I recommend starting with one and see how that goes. Use it 2-3 times a week and see what happens, and based on that, adjust it. But do not overdo it. ;)

They do not conflict, but both are quite acidic so if you would use them in the same routine it can easily lead to redness, burning and stinging. So, it best to avoid using them in the same routine. Both should be used in the evening, but use them on different days.

How often you should exfoliate depends on your skin type and skin concerns. Some people do well exfoliating with AHA or BHA twice a day, whereas others find that once a day or every other day is a perfect balance. Test to see what works best for your skin.

Hello 😀 You can use it on a daily base, but slowly incorporate it into your routine. I am just telling people this so that they don't overdo it, and it can be quite harsh in the beginning!
      Example:
      1 week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
2 week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
3 week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
      4 week....
Until your skin has adjusted to the product, and yes, you will skip it, only apply the other products.
Most people can exfoliate once a day, but I wouldn't recommend it when starting...
      Hope this makes sense ;)

      Hey! :)
Do you use The Ordinary 1% Retinol?
For how long have you been using them in the same routine?
This can work since you are not using them daily. So, if it works for you, keep going. However, for some people, using them in the same routine or too often during the week can lead to irritation. Therefore it's important to start slowly and adjust the frequency over time to see what the skin can tolerate.

Please do not use Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid in the same routine, especially if you are new to acids😅
Use them at alternate times and then you can use Niacinamide afterwards, like so:
      PM Routine:
      - Cleanse
      - Glycolic Acid
      - Niacinamide
      - (Optional) Moisturiser
      or
      PM Routine:
      - Cleanse
      - Lactic Acid
      - Niacinamide
      - (Optional) Moisturiser
You can use those acids daily, however, if you're new to them, start with 2-3 times per week so that your skin has time to adjust to the products before using it daily😊

it’s actually worst. it doesn’t really dilute it. that’s a common misconception. water is a penetration enhancer. if you apply it onto wet skin, the water drives the glycolic acid faster and deeper into the skin, increasing the risk of irritation and itchiness. same with a retinoid, like tretinoin. if you apply that on wet skin, the irritation risk increases.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  4 года назад

      Hey😊
The Ordinary doesn't recommend using multiple acids in one routine - I guess because not everyones skin is the same and to avoid any irritation, that's the safest way to say it😊
However, you can use those two together since the Azelaic Acid is a ''mild'' acid.
Still, since it is the first time for you using those products, I would recommend doing a patch-test of each product on your forearm or forehead to see how the glycolic acid and azelaic acid feel and react on your skin before using it all over. To avoid any major irritation.
If that went well, I would recommend using them at separate times (for one or two weeks) so that your skin is getting used to it before you're using them in the same routine😊
Are there any other products that you're using except for those two?

Hi , I can understand , first step is facial cleaner , second is this serum
But when we wash this serum , if we are using night time before sleep , because I have moisturiser also in my kit , can I use moisturiser on the top
Of this serum or I need to wash my face first & then I can use moisturiser, how much time this serum needed ??

Leave it on for the entire night. This also means you can apply your moisturizer on top of it. See here: ruclips.net/video/NE3j3LPcaGE/видео.htmlfeature=shared

This video was very helpful and very nicely done!! But are you supposed to mosturize your skin directly afterwards? And if yes, does it matter what kind of mosturizer?

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  2 года назад +1

      Hey :)
No, there is no need to moisturize afterwards. However, if you do, make sure that it is not an exfoliating acid moisturizer, they are rare but still exist. So avoid AHA(Glycolic, Lactic Acid) or BHA (Salicylic Acid) moisturizers. And yes, you can use it right after.

    Hii!
Can i use the ordinary niacinimide right after the glycolic toner? I searched the internet but the answers are all different. Some say I can, some say I need to wait 30 mins.
    Thanks a bunch!!!!❤

Hi, I use the Neutrogena oil-free acne wash redness soothing facial cleanser and I just recieved my glycolic acid from the ordinary that I ordered. I can't use them in the same skin care routine ? The facial cleanser includes salicylic acid. What should I do? It's a brand new bottle. I appreciate your time and help❤

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet

Hello, it's not recommended since it can cause skin irritation. The Ordinary does not recommend using multiple acids in one routine. You have two options, try it and see if it works or use one in the morning and the other in the evening. Once your skin can tolerate both, you can try using them in the same routine. If it does not work, separate them!
