I really like the one with the gold and the dots. It makes me think of autumn leaves twirling in the wind, right before twilight when the light of the sun is bright and golden. It's peaceful and joyous.

Renske Dunnewold that one made me think of marigold petals and día de los muertos

@@ShikyouAmanojaku oh shit... I can't unseen it
I'm one of those people who, while I don't really understand the deeper meaning of abstract art, can really enjoy the colors and shapes. It's just visual appeal. I think that the majority of these hit that mark. It kinda makes me want to try.
I think the meaning in most art is made up. A good abstract should just look cool, be pretty or edgy and be a good decoration for a wall. A great abstract can make the room and can invoke feelings. I'm an artist and the message I am sending with my art is usually " I'm pretty to look at and you need to buy me because you've never seen any art more beautiful. It's one of a kind you must have it!" I'm not sending a political statement or have some deep meaning behind it. I saw something that inspired me and I painted it. You are not the only one that doesn't get the meaning. Likely there was never a meaning to get. Some people would like you to feel dumb for not seeing the meaning. It just makes them feel smart. Ignore that stuff.
Go ahead and try. It's finished when it looks good. Otherwise keep going. Mix colors first. Color right out of the tube can be less interesting unless you are going for those really bright vivid. It might help to look at things you think are pretty and use those colors together that you already know you like together. Some colors just don't look great side by side. That should help you succeed. You can so do this. Abstract can be just playing with paint until a happy accident makes it look good. Having a plan helps. You can take a photo and enhance it in photo shop until it doesn't look like anything anymore and try to paint it if it looks cool. That's my advice and yes anyone who cares enough to put in the time can make art. Have fun!
when i look at abstract art i just wanna slap them on the floor cuz they have pretty patterns
I like the warm colours and foil one. I can’t really explain why, but the range of textures, shapes and tones in that composition are just appealing to me
Me too!
Same! I imagined the circle at the top to be the sun in a desert, and the circles at the bottom to be a close up version of sand. I could also imagine them as flowers in a field. Either way it’s very pretty.
It's also one of my favorites, ironically enough, considering that it's basically the complete opposite of my most favorite, Cat # 1. I mostly see a sunrise or sunset.
When he first started drawing it I thought he was trolling and drawing Jake Paul
I like that one too!
I really liked cat, and the self-portrait. The more generic pieces I do have difficulty connecting with, but the ones that have a subject at the center of them I like a bit better. Really liked seeing you attempt this. I'd love to see you try the paint pouring art. I think that would really be a step outside your comfort zone, since it's almost impossible to control what the end result might be.
Hell yea, he should try something like Jackson Pollock did back then, would be lovely to see Jazza just running around the canvas and doing the best he can
I actually like the opposite, it's cool to see how different people like different styles!

Every negative comment on the abstract art is you forgetting it’s meant to be abstract.
@@milster08 this is not a negative comment, every abstract art relates to everyone in different ways, and maybe, watching it's process of being created just relates to us in a way in the middle and then it lost the meaning in the end, that's our feelings answering the art live, as it's being created. Some might like, some might not, some might like it in the middle and don't at the end, that's what's this comment was about or just how I felt about this. Like, in the black and white one that jazza made, i didn't like that green part. It was so good to me before the green part... Anyways that's it

My mum made an abstract painting when the black Saturday bushfires where happening and everything was terrifying, and it has always been my favourite painting she has ever done because when I look at it I can see the distress and the heat and the fear and also the beauty of her interpretation. When I moved out she gave it to me and it now hangs on my fiancé and I’s lounge room wall.
I would love to see this piece x
You explained abstract art better than my first art teacher in college. Thank you!!!!! I struggled with this for awhile because he made us focus on non-representational art and made our final a representational piece........ it took me two days to realize that I could use a figure of some sort!
Thanks again for explaining it so thoroughly. I really like watching your videos when I'm trying to relax.
My teacher made us do abstract without explaning its concept pretty much at all
This video would have been really useful then
@@emvuosku4219 Oh man that sucks!! At least you had the option to use a figure though.
I watch Jazza too when I'm trying to relax or get my mind off of something. I literally just clicked away from an ASMR video to watch this. It's so much more relaxing. I actually didn't really like abstract before but now I started to like it.
@@cabbagetruck123 Yeah. abstract art is one of those things that needs to be explained on a very certain way for a person to grasp the idea behind it. Jazza does it very nicely.
I also don't care for ASMR videos. The cooking o e are I'm fine with. It's the ones where people are eating or making sounds with their mouths that I don't get.
i like the one with the gold background and white sun a lot. the colours are nice
I really like Jazza's attempt at abstract art, and I love abstract art in general.
The grey and green room compliment art was an amazing piece and makes sense.
“But I want to learn as much about it as possible...”
He’s gonna say it.
Go on Jazza say it.
“...and for that I’m gonna be using SKILLSHARE!”
WOOOOO THANK GOD FOR SKILLSHARE! Keeping awesome art RUclips channels going since the adpocalypse.
Abstract is such a large spectrum that I don't think it's fair to say "I do not like abstract art"
I don't like most abstract paintings, and I don't really like abstract sculptures, but at the same time I've seen some fucking amazing abstract art (Peter Draws for example)
It's hard to lump everything abstract into one category, even though it is all abstract...
People tend to be referring to incomprehensible images of random shapes, splats, and scribbles; in which case it is completely fair to say they don't like it. They could use more words to specify what they mean, but in the end we know exactly what they mean without doing that. So I disagree.
I'll just say that I have yet to see a piece of abstract art that I liked but I won't rule out the possibility that there might be some out there.
@@joan1609 That's totally fair, I understand what you mean.
I usually just say that I don't like abstract art, but at the end of the day there are some types of abstract art I like, just not the smeared paint kind.
What jazza did was actually kinda cool besides the cat mask lol but its because there is still clearly thought in his process and he admits to it. When someone shits on a canvas and plays twister in it, it goes on the fridge where all childish garbage belongs
I like abstract art but I hate the type which is a dot in the middle or a blank sheet mainly modern art
you should try candle making!!!
My favourite branch of abstract art is abstracted art, studying an object, scene or a person and emphasizing specific shapes or colours, it would be interesting to see you create abstract shapes from sculptures or paintings you've done before, like an in-between your normal style and abstract or even a series/progress from your normal style to abstract
I really liked the self portrait one I’m a real sucker for good shading
Can you try paint pouring?
M H acrylic pour!
yes would like to see him do it
It's ridiculously hard to make a painting with paint pouring to look like some paint pouring or flowing
I never really understood abstract or modern art until I heard "4'33" by John Cage performed live. The piece is literally 4 minutes and 33 seconds of complete silence, with the performer(s) sitting there the entire time, but when you experience 2000 people sitting in a completely silent room for that long, it's amazing how powerful that amount of silence becomes.
Jazza: "I've never tried this before, I know nothing about it!"

My favorite was the sunset? with the gold foil. You should try doing a video on making bubble art
Ha ha ha got you!!! That wasn't abstract because everyone who looks at that will see a sunset.
@@maggs131 but for everyone the setting will be different. personally I thought it was a sunrise on a field of flowers, yet my brother thought its was a sunset over the ocean
@@angiefirethunder2337 yeah I didn't see a sunset either, I saw a bunch of flowers with the sun rising over them
@@maggs131 Honestly I thought it was a huge pile of autumn leaves on a super sunny day. So yes, it's still very abstract as it can be interpreted in several different ways. I like my autumn day description of it personally as it reminds me of that time of year which has always made me feel joyful and warm. Although the Sunset description isn't wrong either, that's just how you saw it. Abstract art is complicated like that.

I loved the whole tone of this video and just watching jazza paint. I want to go to an exhibit and see all of these. I'm really impressed!
I think abstract might be my favorite type of medium. In high school my aunt tried to bring back my love for art, and she thinks that I work well with pastels, water colour, and abstract mediums but I stopped soon after starting because of my depression. It's still severely affecting me to this day, now in college, but your videos have helped me feel more motivated to get back to it. I hope I can get that willpower to do so soon but thank you for your work Jazza.
I personally loved the one with gold leaf and white spiral, and the bottom half being yellow, orange, red, and purple spots. It reminds me of a sunny field. And for me yellow represents hopefulness. I like the curves of it and it all seems to flow together. I also love the colour scheme, I like how the colours work together and I love the shine that the gold provided, for me it added to the piece and complimented all the other aspects of it.
I also feel like I should note, the grey and green piece that was an example of complimenting a room, I didn’t really like it, until it was in the room and it really did compliment the rest of the room and work well
Stupendous!
You just explained everything in my brain... better than my brain.👏👏👏
I can't be the only one that sort of understands the "Distance" one.
I *kinda * do, but not really, but yet I do. It's strange.
I think is that you can put yourself inside a part of the painting, and other person can see itself in other part and both will never be connected
Yes i totally feel that one, i feel like i even would have painted the word a similar way
I see it as a maze or something?
I see it as kinda like a video game maze where there are huge leaps and obstacles that the character has to take to reach the other side.... Distance... ok i dont quite know actually 😂
But i still kinda sorta get it. maybe.

This actually looks great! I really like the interior design this you hung up on your wall. The gray and green really resonates with me, dunno why...
The one that Jazza made for the corner of his office space that had the green and gray represented pollution to me. The green represented nature and plants. The gray represented the pollution around the plants causing the plants to die and fade away.
CowCraft 72 Sometimes it be like that.
9:12 looks like Logan Paul 😂😂😂
Ry the Fry guy I am not the only person that saw that😂
Soooooooo who asked?
It represented just some colors to me, cause that's what they are
Thing is...Art is abstract at it's core.
When you go to paint a tree or a house or a boat you usually start with a relatively abstract shape and then try to turn it into something comprehendable as the subject you are doing. Usually involving various abstract shapes that work together to create the illusion of a tree, or a house, or a boat...or at least with the intent.
From a design stand point, abstract can become even more important since it allows you to make something out of nothing and often times that something is something that is, in and of itself, uncomprehendable because it's something that doesn't exist. Or doesn't exist yet depending on what you are designing.
You could even take that a step farther and consider the nature of realism vs. representation. When you create art, no matter how "realistic" it is, it's still not real-you're still creating something representational. :) Jazza's painting of the abstract cat is just as real as a "photorealistic" painting of a cat, and just as much art.
@@QuetzalukiVery true. The real world as we see it is not what it appears to be as we only see our own perception of the world around us. And what we see is merely a set of abstract shapes and our brains have evolved to make sense of these shapes. Not much different than the pixels on the screen we are viewing right now.
...that’s deep
The self portrait was so good I love it 😻
I absolutely love your self-portrait and a few of the others are wonderful. I love that you actually tried to do so well and you enjoyed it, as well. Me: OH COME ON!!!
As someone who loves abstract art and values it quite highly I thought I'd throw in my two cents here. I am studying art in college and my painting teacher told us that abstract art is actually the most difficult to get "right". And I agree. The term abstraction itself goes into all art-making. In order to depict anything you are painting you have to begin to simplify it as you can not for example paint every single leaf on a tree. When people say abstract art what they generally mean is that something has been abstracted and simplified to the point of non recognizable forms. However just because this has happened it does not mean that the rules of form and composition are thrown out. The illusion of space can still be created and requires some skill to form. Balance, line, shape, texture they're all still important and if you cannot balance them within a piece that's when it looks "bad". Color theory is also another huge part of it and I feel where many people trip up. For the abstract art that I enjoy and gain great inspiration from they are not only emotional but also incredibly planned and filled with knowledge and skill. I really enjoyed you're pieces but for example the grey and green one you hung up- It is lovely but if you wanted more interest and depth I would've loved to see you add some cooler dark tones to the grey to help push it back in space and then mix in maybe some yellow into the green and layer it on top to pull it forward and create a greater play of tones within the piece. Glad to see you going out of your comfort zone! If you've reached the end of this rant thanks! I didn't plan for It to be so long!
As much as I would love to agree with you, things like that, overthinking a piece, and executing it "according to rules, and how it should be perceived" takes the joy out of creating art, art is emotion, a feeling. If you can't paint without that, a painting even abstract would mean nothing. :)
Elisa Metz very true. And I agree and I feel especially in the beginning it is good to learn but not get hung up on the "rules" (which I feel are more of a guide- one thing I love is when people can break those rules in a successful way, if everyone followed the rules we'd have no progression). I feel though that as you grow as an artist you Increase your skill and are able to combine that with the emotion- which is, I think, what I most admire. There's something so thrilling about seeing not only a piece filled with emotion and meaning but also a piece so fluidly and naturally balanced, with each color playing off of the other with perfect harmony- I feel that is the place that most artists desire to reach. Before going to art school I foolishly though that abstract was easy and tried it myself ending up with an unappealing mess that made me feel quite empty, but now I feel the things I have learned are not necessarily rules but just facts of art have made me more free and excited to create. I now know how to move the eye, how to make it pause and how to trick it into perceiving depth and motion etc and that's really fun. I hope that responded to your comment lol I realize I went off on a tangent again
@@Piggiemushroom It's cool, dw ;) - It's I guess how I feel at the moment, not being into art, because it was criticized most of the time, which kept me from creating art from heart, and trying to make it "perfect" so it would appeal to people (my parents in this case) so.. ye ^^
Elisa Metz I hope you continue to make art! I am actually studying to be an art therapist and as much as the technical nerdy side of art (the but I've been rambling about) excites me, what I am going to be doing in my practice is very much what you describe! Our ability to create- no matter in what form is so incredible and I feel all art has value no matter if it is highly informed by tons of rules or bursting with emotions. I hope I don't discourage anyone into thinking they have to know the ins and outs of what I was talking about to be an artist because as you said it is so much about your emotion too. This external depiction of internal processes. Keep creating and thanks for having this discussion with me!
I personally would have loved to see some purple in the gold foil picture cos purple and yellow are just my entire aesthetic lol 😁. But from what I can tell, abstract art is not about what other people think we should do, it is something that comes from your own imagination. I'd love to create one full of galaxy colours.. 😍
I guess my tastes still go toward something that makes a more coherent image...my eye was drawn more toward the cat (no. 1) and the self portrait...and even the more landscape one (the orange and red with the sun...i think). But understanding I guess is the start to appreciation!
Philbrush omg same
Jazzas term crapstract, is the best term for shitting on a canvas and everyone looking at it. I will never see a difference bentween a babies fingerpainting and billion dollar gallery garbage
I like the portrait one
I like the gold white swirl one the best ❤️
@@maggs131 neither can I. People get so upset when you say that though. They all says it about "everyone's different perspective" but...its still ugly and talentless
I love the dark one with orange/pink and stripes, also the gold leaf, the piece feels so warm and inviting (like those days as a kid when it was slow and sunny and you felt happy but in a relaxed sense), the green and gray is not my favorite but it looks great in the context of it's environment. And of course the self portrait is stunning, very visually appealing.
I love abstract art...I normally do either really colorful or black and white abstract art, its very calming
I honestly wasn’t feeling any of the pieces, but then the self portrait. Like damn I want one for my room.
That piece was a knock out.
I really like the cat1 and your self portrait
Those were my favorites too.
I like the distance one as it gives art deco vibes and I like that
I really liked the “Distance” piece. (I guess that’s the name) Don’t know why but I resonate with it. And I also like your self-portrait, I mean not surprised I like portraits. I like the purple with the red looks nice together.
I really liked "Cat", the self portrait, and the accent piece for your room.
I definitely more agree with the idea abstract art is useful for interior design, I just don't get the idea of random lines and squiggles representing emotions, though as you mentioned it's an umbrella term. I do like abstract art such as your self portrait or "Cat" that still look like something.
I’d say that abstract art is definitely a creativity thing. Creativity itself comes in so many shapes and sizes, and everyone is slightly different creatively. I myself understand the connection of abstract art and emotion and I’ve always had trouble drawing or painting objects/animals/people especially with confidence, while abstract doodles were therapeutic and carry meaning with me. It probably connects to my interest in poetry. And you know what? That’s okay! All types of art is awesome, including the art of people, animals, places, objects.. and the idea of being able to draw them well sounds amazing, I just don’t have the right creative mindset (I can do realistic drawings semi-okay if i have an hd reference that i’m copying but that’s different) and that’s perfectly fine! We’re all creative people and that itself is something to bond over.
Try painting something only using potatos as tools. You can cut/carve/etc. them, but it must be 100% potato. I would combine painting and printing to get some cool textures. Everybody has done a potato print picture in kindergarten, but I'm curious about what you can do with it.
I like your kind of expressionist self-portrait and the palette knife ones :)
I really adore the golden piece with the orange-red-purple dotts!
I love abstract art
ZHC BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Jk lol
wOw
She Zach hey
Oh no! It’s zhc!!!!!
I think abstract art is disrespectful to artists who put time and effort into their work, studying for years on end for them to do bullshit like throw paint on a canvas and get more recognition and money then artists who put time into their work. It may look appealing, and I would love hang some abstract art on my wall, but as an art piece it is not good whatsoever. This isn't very hard to do, for I have done things like this before, they are throwing stuff on the canvas randomly, saying that there is meaning behind what is their bullshit. I feel that people who paint realism aren't given enough credit anymore, people brush it off because it might look like another painting or be "boring", but in actuality the piece that you see before you has had days, maybe years, spent on it. (edit: I fixed a spelling mistake because I knew some jackass would say something about it)
You should make art using gunpowder then burn it up
Nova Spadez or thermite
Nova Spadez then it would explode and kill someone
@@mememaster6928 gunpowder by itself isn't an explosive, it's only explosive when in a tightly enclosed space
That does exist but they put gunpowder on slabs of wood and burn it
I loved every single piece you created in this video! However, I have taken many "art appreciation" classes and classes that expanded on abstract painting; which has respectively given me a strong pull towards these types of artworks. They are truly beautiful pieces!!
I really like those! I like the gold leaf with white swirl and soft strokes! It's my favorite!
