I was more impressed by the blue software than the mic. The mic did sound slightly better but not enough that I would spend $50.
You have to keep in mind that he is using the Pro X Wireless. A 230 $ Headset. I would be very mad, if a 50 $ Mic would be far better then the one it get´s shipped with.
Not so great really. Better off getting a Beyerdynamics mmx300. Boom! Condenser quality mic on an essentially dt770 headphone.
blue mic use in with dack cable in ipad without pc
The only reason I bought it is because I accidentally broke the mic from my G Pro and needed a replacement.
@@theomarks3750 Yeah, but the wired model has same mic and drivers and monitors... and i just looked at it 65€ on sale, bought mine for 80€... just trying to get replacement cos i broke the mic, but not rly sure id pay 45€ fo that or 65€ for whole new set so :/
It's okay I think..
I wouldn't buy it for $50 mainly because at that price point, just buy an actual microphone which will undoubtedly be better.
Yeah like the fifine mic kit for 50 tbh sounds really good
If you have a headphone with a detachable 3.5mm cable like the Philips SHP9500 or Audio Technica MX-50, get the V-MODA BoomPro mic, as Zeos suggests. It's a 3.5mm IN and 3.5 OUT with a mic in-between, and holy FUCK the mic quality is just too good. And it's like 30 dollars!
@@SyRose901 I'm gonna definitely check it out, but I don't think they may be compatible with my bog standard Razer "hyperclear" (load of bs) mic.
I'm honestly thinking of just buying an actual microphone instead of insisting on using the headset mic..
razer seiren mini is 25$ in my country idk about ur region but its like the best value budget mic rn pretty sure anyway, dont quote me on that tho
@@ahlixemus8903 only problem is I did have the fifine set and for gaming a condenser mic is just not great. You really want a dynamic mic to avoid picking up every single mouse click and movement you make. I’m a bit of an audiophile so I tried pretty hard to use a noise gate and other tools to make it bearable and although I got it to a decent point for background noise, you could still hear every single mouse click I made which was annoying for my friends. That being said, with my good EQ, my voice sounded sexy af and I got loads of compliments on it in game chats :)
Any chance you could do a test on the astros as well? Me and I’m sure many of your peeps would really appreciate it!
Can you test the Blue Icepop mic on the newer G Pro X 2 headset? Because it has a terrible mic. I think the Blue Icepop mic might actually make sense to use with that headset.
De-eezer, haha, it's a de-esser, it reduces the sharp S sound you make.
Lol, eeeezzzz now
Might need to turn that on, the sibilance is very piercing
One Finnish guy decided to plug Logitech's mic from the wireless set straight into a digital recorder and it sounded phenomenal!
I mean, you might just plug it into a mic-port of PC for that matter.
Anyway, I didn't like the sound of Logitech's mic on their ProX wireless set, I thought it was horrible. But in a straight connection, the same mic sounded really good.
So, on their wireless set(s), Creative shits the mic sound with their wireless part. Which I find strange...
Corsair Virtuosos sound incredible, in the same department...
Kuka tubettaja se oli?
The main problem is actually with G Hub. The newer versions literally made a lot of Logitech headsets’ microphones look broken. The G Pro X Wireless’s microphone would still sound bad, though.
@@lingonberryjam320 ?
I just tried plugging mine directly into the PC's Mic In and yeah, it definitely sounds much better and clearer. Seems to be losing a lot of audio quality going through the headset (wired G pro).
An apparent issue with that is that as standard the wireless version has the wrong audio bitrate in windows so it sounds like a potato, a lot of people claim it cleans right up after changing that.
Its disappointing they made this sound the way it should have come from the factory for an extra fee. That said, I really do like my G Pro X headset so even thought a dedicated mic is typically better, the convenience of the headset mic is still desirable to me. This is also the only comprehensive video covering this so far, so thanks for making it.
g pro x owner, in comparison im perfectly happy with the mic that comes with the headset, not on as many zoom or teams calls since lockdown and for xbox my friends say they can hear me perfectly well with the stock mic without any blue voice software from the dac. But for the astro a40 with the noticeably worse mic I can see this making a big difference for gamers
Same for me....I use the G-:Pro X on Xbox and have zero issues or complaints about my microphone. I was thinking of getting this Ice Pop ad a replacement but can't justify the cost.
Agree. I switched from the a40 to the g pro x and all my friends said they can hear me wayyy better now. Excited to start putting it in videos
Great video dude! I don’t think these sound any better/worse than the normal G pro(x) and blue mics that come in the box anyway, maybe just another way of getting people to spend money maybe? A mid life cycle upgrade?
FYI - De-Esser, it’s not “De-Easer” it’s more like De S er (say them separate!) like it tries to reduce the S high pitch tone when you say words with an S in them!
I will forever add the tooth test to my arsenal!
would love to see this same video get done but for the astro a40s because they released a blue mic for that headset as well
I bought one and sent it back the same day....Then I sent the headset back because both mics sucks, the blue sucks a little less...but for $250 total cost it is not worth it...not even close. I will stick to my PC38x and Schitt dac
Could you do a test as well for the blue ice pop for the a40? Thinking if it’s worth switching from my mod mic
From the sound of this it’s definitely not, mod mic sounds phenomenally better than this
Okay so in my opinion. This icepop is definitely better than the stock mic either with blue on and off. However, it's not worth the 50$ as this snowball is just demolishing both stock and icepop mic.
Like you said in the video you were going to provide your opinion below. But you haven't, i'm curious as to your view on it. It does appear to have better characteristics but without a proper audio analysis with no software its hard to benchmark it against others.
Still waiting
If you don’t have the ability to have a stand alone mic, this mic is an upgrade over the one included with the headset.
Only slightly, therefore it’s not worth $50 for such a tiny difference
@@ethan7633 agreed, to me it sounds just as bad as the in the box condenser. Although saying that, I wonder if there’s any difference between the standard G Pro mic and the A40 mic, or if the difference is wider with this mic than the stock A40…
The thumbnail looks like Techne is getting ready for his NASCAR announcer debut!
The thumbnail threw me off I was like “thats a huge microphone”😂
can we plug this on hyperx headphones with jack ?
i wander if it works for the black shark pro
Ive been watching you since 10k and now you bought a new house. Very happy to be a part of the community. Keep it up
wow, it sounds surprisingly bad, would have expected mod mic level performance at least.
Why didn't you test the mic on motherboard/onboard audio? I think the USB sound card might be what is limiting the mic.
the 3.5 jack on my mic broke cause i dropped my headset... i'm so happy i could replace it. I really wish they sold the default mic separately as a spare part because it can be quite fragile. it does sound better, but it's almost half the price I paid for the headset itself.
What do you think about the g335, I brought it a few days ago i am just waiting for it to arrive
Can it be use to g733? Or any headset if possible.
Yea
Kinda cool, but for the price I feel like you might as well just buy a big boy mic.
I would really like to see a test of whether or not it can be used on non-Logitech headsets, like for say the Razer Blackshark line or something like that
I would also like to know as all my friends say I sound like I'm speaking from my car using my Razer Blackshark V2 Pro
@@veldarin Check for a firmware update for the headphones on their website (it improves mic quality) and of course if you are on PC check mic volume and mess with the mic eq settings in synapse.
Do you think you could just plug it into a cloud 2?
Where has everyone purchased it from? I'm from Australia, and I can't seem to find anywhere local or overseas that even lists this product.
im waiting on my and i think theres a good difference in clarity
Is it compatible with hyperx cloud alpha
One question I have (cool mic and review btw), is will it work with the Logitech G733/G335? And if it does, what does it sound like, is it the same?
I think yes on the g733 but not on the g335 as it has flip to mute mic
no. the g733 has a different shaped keyed area for the mic to plug in. This is only for the Pro, Pro X and Pro X wireless.
@@awzup57 oh thanks for the info
I ordered this a few days ago salute!
Not bad, however I'd say it'll be better to save up and get a Corsair Virtuoso at that point when you're planning to spend around that amount anyways. The Corsair virtuoso is around 160 - 230 depending on the version and if it's on sale, meanwhile you'll be spending 100 for the logitech headset and another 50 on the mic, totaling at least 150$, with a lot worse microphone in general.
I agree. I used to stream with the Logitech g pro x base mic, which was fine. But when I switched over to the Corsair virtuoso , my viewers immediately told me my mic quality and sound was drastically improved, with a more bass-y, fuller, and natural sound
@@ApoMelon Not a content creator here, but I happen to spend quite a bit of time using my mic on different games, personally I got a hyperx cloud 2, clout flight s, corsair hs70 and corsair virtuoso, and two usb mics, one from a generic brand that was started by a local pc hardware retailer, the other being a Elgato wave 1, the Audio from the Corsair virtuoso and the generic usb condenser mic can be comparable and almost hard to tell apart even from the Elgato wave 1, in most games due to there being a lot more things going on in general than just you talking, in the end though, some cheap usb mics of decent quality is always going to be better than most headset mics, with the corsair virtuoso headsets being one of the exceptions so far from my own experience with them.
will this mic work if I put it in the classic G PRO headset and not in the X version? will the options for voice show up in the g hub?
these on the Astro A40s gonna be legendary!
Hi sir, I am confused as to what to choose this hyperx alloy origins core or glorious gmmk tkl ? : For Gaming
Gmmk tkl for sure my man
That thumbnail is everything
The tooth test starts at 2:06
lol
D-eezer 🤣. Sorry, was hard to take the video seriously after hearing that. It's a D-esser...helps reduce the "S" sound/sibilance.
First!
Is this compatible with the black shark V2 pro wireless ? I know it’s for Logitech but just curious
Same
unfortunately my device does not work.
I connect icepop to my G PRO headset and there is no option on the G HUB to activate blue voice.
I already performed all the procedures I saw on the internet but nothing appears on the G HUB, even logitech sent me a new icepop but it still doesn't work.
Plece I need the best gaming keyboard in 2021
i think with the eq you did it's good but overall i dont think it would be worth it unless your mic breaks
That mic sounds worse than my old hs50 pro
the icepop with blue software prob the best
Dude it sounds so much better!! WOW
blue mic use in with dack cable in ipad without pc
Welp, this just saved me $50
and because my mic stopped working
I don’t know why I don’t get a notification when you post something up.. im a subscribers and I hit the bell so I can see when u post something
Great review and montage as usual! But that pop microphone doesn’t worth it at all. Get yourself a Blue Snowball is better for sure
Sounds awesome i hope they start making them for other headsets or just make a normal 3.5 so it could for most headsets (normal as in no like mould around the 3.5)
Makes sense though that they did the G-Pro and A40s first since Logitech owns both Blue and Astro.
I have g pro x and my friends say that original mic sounds so much better. So basically its waste of money. Upgraded mic just doesnt sound good. I dont know if they need to do something with firmware but at the moment it sound really bad
If I get on pc and customize my mic settings would they transfer over to my Xbox?
I've been using the wired G Pro X headphones for the better part of a year now both with and without Logitech's software, and I think it's an example of great hardware paired with mediocre software.
I've gotten much better results by plugging directly into my PC's split mic/headphone jack and tuning as necessary through OBS or other software than I ever have by using Logitech's bundled USB sound card or using their control software.
my g pro wirless developed the common buzz issue in the left ear cup would avoid luckly mine did this while still in the return window
It's almost like they deliberately make the mics sound like trash without the blue voice software out of the box on the pro X/wireless series, the mics actually sound great on the PRO without the need (or option) of the software.
I ran with an issue with this new mic, I noticed that the sidetone has no effect anymore. I tried tweaking it from the G Hub but still no sidetone…. As you haven’t mentioned it on your review, it would be worth it to let your viewers to know so they can expect it when they bought this. I already contacted Logitech but because of their terrible customer service, I had to wait probably by weeks now….
This sounds like a you problem. No issues with side tone for me and four other friends with Pro X Wireless + IcePop combo
The thumbnail made me laugh and I actually thought before watching that the mic was actually ping pong 🏓 paddle size 🤣🤣🤣
But all in all, I don’t see the value on this one. 🤔
Hello, Logitech says, compatible with G Pro headsets, is the Pro X 2 Lightspeed also meant? Or is this only suitable for the previous models?
Can't confirm it, but the X 2 has the same mic as the previous model, so should work.
The filters and wireless mode sound worse to my ear. I imagine that's because of wireless bandwidth constraints and shitty audio interface. I really wonder how good this mic sounds straight into a gsx 1200 or any audio interface. The filters are worthless since the source audio is trash. It really is amazing how willing logitech is to gimp their hardware just to sell the software as a "feature".
YOU FORGOT TO PIN YOUR CONCLUSION
The new mic sounds WAY better but, it sucks that it's another $50. I sent my Pro X Wireless back when I compared it to the Virtuoso SE mic. Then I sent the Virtuoso back when I got a ModMic for my Sennheiser open backs.
can i use this mic for any headset?
The only difference with the Pro and Pro X wired is the usb dongle. The difference between the stock and icepop mic is not worth $50. For $25-$30, maybe.
Shouldn't this work on every single 3.5 mmeter Jack.?????????
Stan alone mic sound better but what the stand were you using for the blue snowball you havent update your last video yet about the wave xlr
your video mic that you normally use sounds the best what is it your using normally???...I want one lol
second
can you do a video of your favorite headset, mouse, and keyboard? alll your preference!!!
Still kind of meh to be honest. The mod mics are much better.
Can I put this on my steel series arctis one
can u do a mic setting for smooth and clear voice
Please ineed the best gaming keyboard in2021
Steelseries Apex Pro Tkl if you have the money
Pretty good improvement imo. I feel like the price is a little much for what it is though.
I believe once the software is dialed in it will be amazing
Serve com o pS5???
Could you test it to the Astro A40s mic with the Blue Icepop?
@The Technie - keep up with your awesome reviews. BTW, during your review is that blade 15 or blade 17?
Can you please review the fantech Helios xd3
I think the black caps fits you the best! Awesome
Why has this microphone not been tested with other headphones? ))
I bought one before watching a review as there wasn't any uploaded. Rolled the dice and after watching your review I feel confident. I'd be using it with the Astro A40's.
Still steelseries headset mics are ages better.
What Cámara 📷 you think is good to buy for streaming or movie reactions?
I see that they also advertise a Astro's version
does not work for sony wh-1000?
I'll just get a legit mic for the same price.
Another great content video pal, seen yet another top tip, the tooth test love it... Stay safe, stay Stinkin Cozy...
Will this work on SteelSeries Arctis 1 or Barracuda X?
Thanks a lot for this comparison
Thanks for the review!
the blue snowball sounds the best
Blue Snowball sounded best, although it would hinder my vision playing games.
@@Bolasnegras I’m here for the same reason he is, except I’ve used a mount for a couple years, it gets in the way, makes sounds, and requires maintenance… this is the product I’ve been waiting for… the mod mic is way better sounding but doesn’t plug right in… makes everything so easy
Ok. That thumbnail was a little too clickbaity
Is that mic stand that you have the snowball on the one it comes with?
No
It was the tooth test for me 😂
Hey Techne.
I was wondering what is the better keyboard, fnatic ministreak or hyperx alloy origins tkl
All are shit
@@sebas6pr tell m a better keyboard under 100 then
