There's also his talent for making scenes. It's a talent even rarer than the 3 you mentionned. And one day he will be calling them "the Kid"......This is a legendary actor already in my opinion. His acting ability in This is England and especially The Virtues blew me away Also love the fact that he is still so down to earth and stays grounded with people round about him. Stunning actor.
Guy goes from a Scouse accent to New Jersey like an absolute master. From someone who practices accents, people should know, it’s incredibly hard to not only capture the essence, but to do such a fantastic job that it’s near indistinguishable from that of an actual native... unbelievable.
In my class right through school, our accent, kirkby, is very strong, he's a lot more scouse than that and I think strangely, the dialect seems to lend itself well to mimic sounds counter. Intuitive. Last time seen dutchy was one of our mates died 2010
Dear Stephen Graham, I'm old enough to call DeNiro and Pacino legends and I just want to tell you, though I never for a moment doubt your modesty and sincerity in appreciating the oppurtunity to be cast alongside them, you ARE a legend in your right. Absolutely love your work and hope to see more of it!
Actors are just people. Its not fucking rocket science especially when you dedicate your life to be good at something. I think people give actors a bit too much praise because they dont realize that everything in life is easy if you invest your time into being good at it. The problem is that many people have this cognitive block where they think they arent good and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Robert Deniro and Al Pacino arent special, they are just men. Marlon Brando essentially had a contempt for acting thinking it was the easiest thing in the world while also never bothering to learn his lines, Alfred Hitchcock said actors were like cattle and I think his meaning is that actors were interchangeable and expendable due to how many there were. Especially with film acting I mean you have how many takes to get things right, its nothing like theatre acting. Yeah they are good actors but theres no need to put these people on a pedestal.
Kerem Dinleten Roberts father is Half Italian, half Irish and his mother is Jewish. Bobby is considered more of an Italian American because of his last name.
Notice how he says "I" when discussing his character, you can see he actually relates to his characters unlike other actors. Stephen seems very humble and down to earth
This lad held his own in the scenes with seasoned Al Pacino and that’s no easy feat. For me Stephen Graham has shown himself as a heavyweight .. well done la!
I love when actors refer to themselves when they actually wanna mean the character. '' Jimmy Hoffa come to me because he needs my endorsement. '' It shows how deep they were into their characters they mix it up.
Shirley Toussaint totally agree, but it seems like De Niro won’t get his deserved recognition at the Oscars. They also have two big supporting actors so Stephen Graham wouldn’t make it in. But he definitely deserves to.
When you're in a room with arguably the two greatest actors of all time and you not only hold your own. But, you improvise on the spot and are brave enough to act out of your skin. That tells me you deserve to be held in the same sentence. Stephen Graham, for me, could well be the best actor to ever come out of the UK.
I wonder if Stephen knows that between Capone and his role here, he’s stepped in as a newer generation of actors to help create mob movies for us. Call him the new age Joe Pesci. But he’s become a staple now.
He looks NOTHING like the character in the movie, nor does he sound like him at all... That's unreal talent right there, this guy is amazing and I'm ashamed to say I didn't know who he was before this movie.
We know him and love back here in England 😊 I met him too and he was a sweetheart and asked us if we wanted a photo after Id already decided I wouldn’t ask him coz didn’t wanna intrude on his day too much. Look him up on IMDb, the stuff he’s done with director Shane Meadows is outstanding

Stephen Graham is one hell of an actor. So adaptable. So able to inhabit a character. And ultimately, hugely watchable in anything he's in. Him and Toby Jones are British treasures.
@@eightiesmusic1984 The only way I think you could argue he 'seems similar' is that he brings intensity to many of his roles, and many of his roles are characters with depth, volatility, brooding. But I'm happy to be educated as to why British film fans are naive and easily impressed....
@@skiptracerbob For starters I would say it one of the main reason is that British film fans tend to be parochial in their tastes, not stepping outside English language films. There is a great reluctance to embrace subtitled films from abroad which means that so much compelling drama with high quality acting is missed, thus narrowing the frame of reference. There is a reason why the UK film industry is not very successful; there is little demand for its output beyond these shores.
@@eightiesmusic1984 I was more interested in hearing your opinion, as it seemed like you have a strong one when it comes to british film fans. I don't doubt many are parochial and reluctant to engage in the broad spectrum of filmmaking from across the world - and I could see why that opinion intersects with your poor opinion of Steven Graham - but I don't see why any of what you've said makes him any less of a fantastic, compelling actor. One of the many things I love about Scorcese's movies is that whenever characters are sitting and talking, it's fascinating and electric. Never just a downer in energy and simply relaying information....just absolute gold.
He is so convincing. You could almost feel him the atmosphere by just watching it. The first time I saw Stephen in a film was in Snatch and I've been a big fan since.
same with Jason Statham! Statham usually plays the unstoppable badass, but in Snatch, he was just a regular dude way in over his head with the Pikeys and Brick Top's gang.
He was outstanding in this movie, he definitely deserves an nomination for something. The scene with him and Pacino in the jail was also brilliant! I am not a fan of the film, but this performance was amazing
Imagin being a 47 year old man, with 30 years in the industry as an actor, and still having that little voice in your head going "Ohmygod Ohmygod Ohmygod Al and de niro" Truly two titans. Legends for the rest of time.
Let's appreciate this man... so many legendary movies,so many legendary roles... and still the humble background actor... This man should get way more prominent roles ,because he slays every role he does...
Stephen Graham what a outstanding actor he his. I'll watch absolutely anything when his name is in it,because you know its going to be brilliant no matter what,I even enjoy his interviews and clips because he's really entertaining. Most importantly his head hasn't swollen with all his success he's had and he's really down to earth.
I saw him once in a BBC production call The Good Cop. He played a local villain and he positively made my blood run cold. Then there was his performance as Combo in the This is England series, he went from racist thug to a man of redemption and finished off with being the victim of the same savage thuggery he employed in his first incarnation. A powerhouse performance if ever there was one.
He can’t believe he’s in that scene and I can’t believe he has an English accent 😳. He has done some of my favorite Italian mobster roles and I would’ve never thought that. Great actor 👏🏼.
One of the most underrated actors! He is great in every movie he's in. Just compare his roles in "Snatch" to "This Is England", complete opposites yet he is very convincing in both.
It's definitely the most 'gangster' scene of the movie. But I think the movie was a lot more focused on the overall journey as opposed to trying to have individual fun or iconic moments like we usually associate with Scorsese flicks
When he stood up and put his hands up it was classic. He’s a pretty composed made mob guy because Pesci from Goodfellas would’ve been killed Hoffa right then and there.
@@newmansoon7444 Though Billy wasn't near the same level as Hoffa. Still, I think the only question is how much quicker Tommy would've been whacked afterwards.

Gary is a top actor alright. Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, Daniel day lewis, Pacino, deniro are some of my favourites Graham is building a steady line of top work he is getting up to them levels, brilliant actor.

Stephen is fast becoming an acting Titan and rightly so. A huge talent.
And one day he will be calling them "the Kid"......This is a legendary actor already in my opinion.
His acting ability in This is England and especially The Virtues blew me away
Also love the fact that he is still so down to earth and stays grounded with people round about him.
New York, not Jersey
In my class right through school, our accent, kirkby, is very strong, he's a lot more scouse than that and I think strangely, the dialect seems to lend itself well to mimic sounds counter. Intuitive. Last time seen dutchy was one of our mates died 2010
@@terrymckenna3382 anyone who leaves the city drops a gear with the accent.
Scouse*, not English

Dear Stephen Graham, I'm old enough to call DeNiro and Pacino legends and I just want to tell you, though I never for a moment doubt your modesty and sincerity in appreciating the oppurtunity to be cast alongside them, you ARE a legend in your right. Absolutely love your work and hope to see more of it!
Thanks Kid Showbiz
"You see that Marty?? He frightened me! He frightened me!" What a compliment from an absolute legend.
He should have that text on his wall at home lol
Stephen Graham completely held his own with such heavyweight talent in that scene. He’s an absolutely amazing actor.
Yeah 2 heavyweight old men who are professionals at being fake. Putting actors on pedestals 😆

It shows how deep they were into their characters they mix it up.

@@MixSonaProductions
They are all named Tony. What's with the italians? Cant they think of another name?
Shirley Toussaint totally agree, but it seems like De Niro won’t get his deserved recognition at the Oscars. They also have two big supporting actors so Stephen Graham wouldn’t make it in. But he definitely deserves to.
@@alejandroramirezavendano43 Fat Tony not Skinny Tony
When you're in a room with arguably the two greatest actors of all time and you not only hold your own. But, you improvise on the spot and are brave enough to act out of your skin. That tells me you deserve to be held in the same sentence. Stephen Graham, for me, could well be the best actor to ever come out of the UK.
I wonder if Stephen knows that between Capone and his role here, he’s stepped in as a newer generation of actors to help create mob movies for us. Call him the new age Joe Pesci. But he’s become a staple now.
and like Pesci, he is shorter than the people he plays😂

@@damienoleary2666 They cut the last season short, they said it themselves. The creators and actors of the show. Just when it got interesting, when Capone got into power and all that, when Luciano was on top, they cut it off. It could have been the most interesting show ever if they went into detail and made atleast 1 more season. But they wrapped it up real quick.
@@kajcsapapa did not know that. I was always impressed how neatly the whole thing was wrapped up to be honest.
I would also say, don't confuse interest in someone's opinion with an unwillingness to educate themselves. On the contrary.
