18-55mm gets my vote, it was my travel companion with X-T3 6 months ago in Catalonia. I was on a receiving side with that trip; my sons took me there as a birthday gift, 😻.
I was looking for a 10-24 Fuji lens. I came upon this video. Oh my, what precious memories with your mom. Just beautiful! Thanks for all the videos too.
I just recently bought xt3 with this lens, and I have 0 regrets. I love it! f4 does not bother me at all. I know that I wouldn't use it in lowlight that often. But dang, that manual focus ring is top-notch. I moved over from Nikon, and the manual focus ring blew me away! All thanks to you!
The gear talk, the food, … all of that is fine. But damn those samples photos. I loved your compositions and the way you played with lights and shadows
Oh man I was living there in Barcelona this last 2 years until this summer! I’m glad you enjoyed this beautiful city with your mom! Greetings from Tenerife now 👍
What a lovely relationship you have with your sweet mother. Photography was great. But I don’t care I am now very hungry! Took my 10-24 with my 16-80 on a recent trip both were fantastic. Little distortion and super sharp. Weather was poor and relied on the 16-80 superb 6 stop O.I.S. and I was shooting at sub 1/30 sec a lot of the time and it was super and I am rubbish at controlling my camera shake. The 16-80 or at least my copy is very sharp wide open so I don’t understand some comments about this lens being unsharp. Maybe they vary in manufacture because they are not made in Japan. Love to hear you do a long term review of this one. Great as always thank you.
I always love your videos Omar! I used to own the 10-24mm and just did not end up using it often enough, so I traded it for a 16mm f1.4. The lens I use most often is the 16-80 f4, second is the 27mm f2.8. 8:44 pm.
Looks like you guys had a fun time. I'm excited for Fujifilm shooters with that new 16-80mm. It is almost convincing for me to get a second camera system.
You brought your momma along for her birthday? What a wonderful son, she raised you well. Delightful, both of you and as always your videos are informative and entertaining! No one took me to Barcelona for my 70th! :(
Most of my video works were on 10-24mm lens. very useful for that extra space in the scene, and it provides certain feels when I cropped it in a certain degree.
I ended up selling the 10-24 because it is not weather resistant and I do a lot of outdoors work in wet environments. The 16mm f/1.4 is a great lens with WR and it's plenty wide 98% of the time. I agree your Mom has RUclips charisma!
For circumstances like a major city, a wide angle and normal zoom lens combo makes sense. However, when travel is going to be in wide open spaces, a telephoto makes more sense. I recently made several train trips through the mountains of Colorado where I got a lot of use from a 24-240 lens and a camera that had IBIS. I was shooting scenes that were hundreds if not thousands of feet away and on a train that was not smooth riding. The IBIS worked great and the reach of the 24-240 was near perfect for that trip.
Some things are better at 10 mm, others at 18 mm, and yet others at 23, 35 or 55. That's why my most basic travel kit is either the 18-55 + 55-200 when I don't need wide angle (general travel + landscape with mid-distance to far away subjects), or the 10-24 + 18-55 when I know I'll need mostly wide angle with some mid tele (street or landscape with close-up subjects). If I wanna have it all, I'll add the 55-200 to the mix, and even with those 3 lenses, everything still fits into a small bag, including the X-T20. The 18-55 + 55-200 are usually enough for all my travel needs (landscapes at 18, 23, 35, 55, 200, with the ocassional wildlife at 200), but I'm glad I also had the 10-24 the other day when I was in the middle of a volcanic "malpaís" with big mountains and narrow ravines (10, 12, 14, anything above that was undoable, even with panoramas). The downisde is that none of that is WR. I might replace the 18-55 + 55-200 with the 18-135 and add a fast prime (for night photography) to get the ultimate (WR) travel kit: X-T3 + 10-24 + 18-135 + possibly the 23mmF2 for low light.
My go to is 18-55 and 50-230, those extra 30mm on the non-XF zoom lens are worth it to me, and it is waaay cheaper than the XF lens. It definitely feels cheaper in quality but as long as you take care of it, there's no reason to not love it. I've taken so many shots with that lens and they all come out phenomenal despite being a cheap lens.
This was fun! What a great thing you did for your Mom! You were fantastic with your comparisons and I have to agree, it really just depends on individual taste. Keep up the great work Omar!
I just bought a Fujifilm XT-30, and I was just following your videos to see some lens recommendations. Seeing how happy your mom is on the trip makes me want to ditch saving for a lens and save to take my mom on a trip now! Love from India
What a nice son you are! Your mom is adorable. I lived in Spain almost 5 years; seeing all that food made me want to be able to have some again(not the same here). Nice video.
For travel, I’ve been curious to try a wide prime with super zoom tele, so in my case, the 16mm 1.4 paired with the XC 50-230. Skip the middle range and go right to the extremes!
Yay, so glad you and your mother had such a great trip together. Who cares about cameras when you have memories like that. Anyway, back on topic. Recently got my first serious fuji, a X-H2 and due to the 40MP they dont recommend the 10-24.. but the 8-16 which now looks too wide, too heavy, and too expensive for occasional use.. and yes i got the kit lens 16-80 which is not recommended but sold as part of the kit.. I think I'll stick with it until a newer 10-24 is released.. but my x-e1 needs a zoom.. too and the 16-80 is too big for it
What do you recommend to shoot RUclips videos? Makeup tutorials and clothing hauls (full body)? I was thinking the 10-24 or 16-55 . But I’m probably wrong on both lol. I need a fast autofocus. Thanks!
I guess it depends on your style. I love the wide angle look and you work harder to get good shots with it. Sometimes it doesn't work and you'd rather have something longer like a 35mm or 50mm or even the 18-55 for the sake of keeping it simple. There is no right and there is no wrong...as they say, different strokes for different folks.
This is só super nice! Wow! What a great trip and beautifull photo’s. And you have such a young looking adorable mom! It’s great you went on a trip together and you let us all enjoy! Really loved this video ❤️.
Right on the money Omar! I just returned from the Greek Isle, taking only my X-T3 with the XF 18-55. I may have missed a couple shots, but so what?! I always travel light and am looking forward to your video on the XF 16-80.
I recently upgraded my 18-55 to the 16-80. Main reasons were the bigger zoom range on both ends and the weather sealing. I'm currently on a trip in Ireland and I've only brought that lens and the 23 1.4. During the day I don't even carry a camera bag. I just throw my X-T2 around my shoulder with the zoom and I shoot everything with it. The image stabilization is a huge advantage. I was able to shoot a somewhat long exposure shot of a waterfall handheld and still get the picture sharp where it needed to be sharp. At night though, it's too slow, but that's where the 23 1.4 comes in.
Beautiful vid - thanks for sharing your trip. Barcelona is the most beautiful city in the world and it looks like the renos on the Sagrada are adding to the beauty and are in fact, still alive and well, lol.
Thanks for posting this. I recently traded in my Canon gear to try the Fujifilm X-T100. Now that I'm used to the Fujifilm mirrorless system I'm really enjoying it, and will likely upgrade to the X-T20 within the year. The zoom lens that came with the X-T100 kit leaves much to be desired, and only been shooting with the 27mm pancake lens. I've been torn between the 18mm prime or the 18-55mm zoom, and this video helped me settle on the the 18-55mm.
Hi, thank you for the video. Your videos on the 10-24m lens look really smooth. Did you use a gimbal to film or just hand held? My footage is always very shaky on my xt2 . Thanks 😊
I love the XF27mm/f2.8 for a "walking around" prime. My last trip to visit my dad down in Florida, I packed it, the XF35mm/f2.0, and the XF18-55mm/f2.8-4.0 along with my XT-30, batteries, charger, memory cards, and a couple of lens pens. Everything packs into a small Pelican dry box, 9.5x7.5x4.25", which fits inside my carry-on.
Last year I made an euro trip. And I use the 12mm (samyang) and the 35mm f2 (Fujinon) on my fuji... And I think that this year will be my option again 👌🏻 saludos!!!
Next time you go to Barcelona, make sure to take a couple trips outside the city. Montserrat is a "must see". Also, Figueres, for the Dali Museum. But for photos, Montserrat is better. And you can see my mother's birthplace from there.
Excellent review! My wife and I visited Barcelona in 2016 and I used my Canon EF 11-24mm f/4 L a lot indoors as well as outside. I also used my 24-70 and 70-300 as well. But the 11-24 is always in my bag.
What about using the 16mm prime and the 18-55? The 16 is very sharp and can focus very close. I agree on the 18-55mm. Even though I have most of the other Fuji lenses I find this travels with me the most.
Toured Athens, the Cyclades islands, and Crete in September. Although I took the 10 to 24, I used it only a couple of times. Most of my shots were with the 18 to 135 and the 16 to 50. I’ve taken the 18 to 135 on several trips now and feel it’s the best travel lens. I used an Xt-3 and XPro 2 on this trip.
Great video Omar!! 😊Actually impressing me to shoot more video! I got the X-T3 now after the PhotoPlus Expo in New York, soooooo, I’ll definitely shoot some video on my next trip. Cruise in December with the fam 😁. Yeeeaaahhh!!! Take care, your new friend from Bermuda.
I was just there! like 1.5wk ago. i normally bring a 18-55 and 12mm, but I wanted to play with new lenses and primes. I ended up bringing a 16f2.4. 35f1.4, and a 60f2.8. definitely one of the best town for photography.
With 10mm you can shoot architecture, do some perspective correction in LR and crop out a beautiful upright 18mm equivalent. Nicer than the regular 18mm.
The 16-55 has been nothing short of stellar for my last trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios. Perfect for almost every situation with the exception of a few shots where it wasn’t quite wide enough, I either backed up a bit more than usual or actually used the tilt screen to get that looooow shot. While I do miss the OIS for video it still captured some good shots. Looking forward to your vid on it!
The new 16-80 f4 (new lens, not a new version replacing other equals) is freaking awesome as an all rounder- try it! It’s more or less glued to my X-T2
Still putting out great stuff. Even if I'm not interested in the content sometimes, I still watch every video because of your personality. You're great dude. Also, seems like a hiatus on Moe and O... you guys still gonna do content? Hopeful you keep it up. Cheers.
I like the 10-24mm because of its sharpness and zoom in for a full frame 35mm equivalent. I also bring my 16-55mm f/2, really good low light street / holiday lens.
Spending time with the mother is always one the great moment you can do on earth! Great explanation Omar. I was wondering how’s your arm position when you vlogged with the 18nm? Which camera did you use? Do you have a vlog test with the 16mm? Thanks
The 10-24 is must-have for traveling light for landscape, but yeah... it's too easy to get lulled into the 10mm more-is-better trap when the middle of the zoom range would be better.
I was in Barcelona last May, top 10 favorite cities. Omar, you should check out Lisbon, if you haven't been....easily one of the most photogenic cities.
I have just been to Barcelona and I had my xt1 and the 16-80 with the 23f2. That 16-80 had enough reach with the 16mm end just right for this lens. Did I miss my 10-24 yep but as I did the tour bus the 80mm end came in handy to shoot the building's. I did not use 23f2 and it was great to have just one camera and one body and get on enjoying the trip with a small kit.
I have all the 1.4/1.2 whatever for weddings and portrait sessions. But every time I go overseas and just travel I come back and always find that my 14mm 2.8 was the most used lens by far. Always :)
Whatever lens you choose the important thing is you spent the special moment with your mom. Kudos to you and your channel
On a trip with your mom... I feel like a bad son now.
Yup, exactly how I felt too...

One of the most enjoyable vlogs I’ve ever seen! Love you and your mom!❤️👍📸
Love your videos.
They're packed full of real life useful information and extremely entertianing.
So glad you and Mom were able to take this opportunity and enjoy life. 🤗hugs
I was looking for a 10-24 Fuji lens. I came upon this video. Oh my, what precious memories with your mom. Just beautiful! Thanks for all the videos too.
Your mum looks like she's so much fun and a great traveling companion. Loved this!

70? She doesn't look a day over 55 :)
The best thing about this video: you took your mom on vacation.
I always love your videos Omar! I used to own the 10-24mm and just did not end up using it often enough, so I traded it for a 16mm f1.4. The lens I use most often is the 16-80 f4, second is the 27mm f2.8. 8:44 pm.
missing file looks nice also.
Haha
I just got the 16-80mm and I think this will be my goto travel lens. I can always throw my tiny 9mm lens in for wide shots. Thanks for the vid.
Your mom is the highlight of this video. ❤💜🧡💛💚💙
Looks like you guys had a fun time. I'm excited for Fujifilm shooters with that new 16-80mm. It is almost convincing for me to get a second camera system.
You are a true legend to take your mom to Barcelona...your mom looked super happy. That is what matters the most...😁😷

Do you mainly shoot in default Provia mode? The colors of the food are amazing. Another great video.

The 16-55 will be my go to travel lens period. I have an x70 if want to go light during travels.
Love the 16-55 but have been tempted to swap it for the 10-24 and 18-55. It's just such a beast in weight and size.
Some things are better at 10 mm, others at 18 mm, and yet others at 23, 35 or 55.

This was fun! What a great thing you did for your Mom! You were fantastic with your comparisons and I have to agree, it really just depends on individual taste. Keep up the great work Omar!
I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Catalonia. Greetings from Barcelona. Come back soon!

You won’t regret it. We went right before COVID.
When you said "sagrada familia" I realized you speak spanish :D, greetings from Argentina

Really enjoy a lot this video. I like that you enjoy so much Barcelona, is a very lovely and cozy city.

That was a Great time for a Great mom and her photographer..
Nice, always helpful to hear you think out loud. Thanks!
Your videos are funny yet educational and your personality is superb😂
Beautiful vid - thanks for sharing your trip. Barcelona is the most beautiful city in the world and it looks like the renos on the Sagrada are adding to the beauty and are in fact, still alive and well, lol.
Hello from Barcelona!
Yes.. but what about the sardines?
Thanks for posting this. I recently traded in my Canon gear to try the Fujifilm X-T100. Now that I'm used to the Fujifilm mirrorless system I'm really enjoying it, and will likely upgrade to the X-T20 within the year. The zoom lens that came with the X-T100 kit leaves much to be desired, and only been shooting with the 27mm pancake lens. I've been torn between the 18mm prime or the 18-55mm zoom, and this video helped me settle on the the 18-55mm.
Barcelona is Amazing! I can't wait to go back!!
The video I was looking for so long! Thank you Omar!
I love the photo of the sign "Missing File" Man! :P
Maaaan - travelling. What a nice concept it was. One day, ooonnnee day.
Last year I made an euro trip. And I use the 12mm (samyang) and the 35mm f2 (Fujinon) on my fuji... And I think that this year will be my option again 👌🏻 saludos!!!
My fave city. Glad you 2 had a great time mate. Thank you for sharing that lovely video
Your videos are always so enjoyable. You crack me up dude!
Planning a Spain trip now - super helpful!
Was helpful seeing the video quality in real world use. Nice trip eating all that good food 👍
lovely, great to see u guys in EU, glad you enjoyed it, about fuji lens - i think u cant never go wrong between those 2
I seems like a lens worth dragging along even if it’s used just a few times. Nice job Omar!
Next time you go to Barcelona, make sure to take a couple trips outside the city. Montserrat is a "must see". Also, Figueres, for the Dali Museum. But for photos, Montserrat is better. And you can see my mother's birthplace from there.
I had to watch back three times. Your mom looks great. I hope I look that well at 70!
Great tips! Thanks! I was also wondering what lens to bring on an upcoming trip. You’ve helped me out a bunch!
Hi Omar! I'm going to Barcelona for new years eve ! And guess what. I'm contemplating which lens to take haha, and here are you with tips :D
So cool you’re taking care of your mom. From the Philippines, MABUHAY!
Excellent review! My wife and I visited Barcelona in 2016 and I used my Canon EF 11-24mm f/4 L a lot indoors as well as outside. I also used my 24-70 and 70-300 as well. But the 11-24 is always in my bag.
If you want to eat good "sardines" Sardinhas! come here to Portugal man..
This vid shows just how bad fuji autofocus used to be doesn't it! Latest firmware is so much better.
Thanks for sharing, great fun place, great demonstrate compare both lens.
Another great video Omar! Tu madre es fantastica!
What about using the 16mm prime and the 18-55? The 16 is very sharp and can focus very close. I agree on the 18-55mm. Even though I have most of the other Fuji lenses I find this travels with me the most.
Ohhh... you should have come to Lisbon also. Peppers (pimentos Padron) are delicious, i use to do it at home. You'll also be amazed by the food 😋
Toured Athens, the Cyclades islands, and Crete in September. Although I took the 10 to 24, I used it only a couple of times. Most of my shots were with the 18 to 135 and the 16 to 50. Wow that food looked awesome. Now I'm hungry!
Sweet of you to take your Mom for her bday.
Hi Omar! Did you just use the XT-2 for this video? No additional mic? The sound is very clear. Nice video!
Gorgeous people, stunning city.
I was in Barcelona last May, top 10 favorite cities. Omar, you should check out Lisbon, if you haven't been....easily one of the most photogenic cities.
Great street shots and videos, scrumptious looking food y que Dios le bendiga a su mamá.
Always :)
Thought provoking and entertaining- good job.
That's your Mom? She's 70? No way! How lovely is she!!?
Great video Omar!..♥️
