Our Bailey (and Swift and Elldis) Dealer in Dereham - Greentrees CaravanStore closed at the end of October, again due to the owners retiring after failing to sell the business despite trying for 2 years. They have supported the sales staff and the Technicians to set up separate businesses on parts of the same site. Warranties have transferred to the new servicing business - our van is just over 1 year old. It will be interesting to see how things go. I don't think things are generally well in the Caravan Business - we are waiting for a replacement internal panel under warranty - 2 months on still no word on when we can expect the panel and many of the Bailey Forums are filled with complaints about the supply of replacement parts. Various rumours circulate about the financial health of at least one of the manufacturers and their future viability. There is also the future transition to electric vehicles and the ceasing of production of diesel and petrol cars from 2030. All in all I think we are in for a period of uncertainty in the caravan industry for the next decade or so.

Bailey and Prima are a bit slow, I've only experienced them from spare parts for myself, not warranty. Their delivery times are generally shocking. I think the only mfr. I've heard that may be struggling or ceasing was Elddis? The electric/diesel debacle will roll on, I have a supplier at my work who has (sort of) been forced to use electric for his company car, he has a Bailey Unicorn that he tows and is okay at the moment, but I don't think he's towed very far as yet! Equally, there is no way in my life time I would ever be able to afford an EV to tow our caravan - we'd be looking at a £90k+ car to do that! Thanks again, Andy.
I think it odd that a successful business would just close because the owner wants to retire? Surely you could A) sell it, or B) pass the running of the company down to an employee to manage? I think it has to be financial reasons? Not that it matters I guess. Greentrees Caravanstore in Norfolk closed for a similar reason. If a business is successful, you'd sell it, wouldn't you? Our dealer is an hour away from where we live, this part of the country is very light on dealers and sites for that matter...
@CaravanVlogger I’m still not 100% convinced but that’s the official line that’s on their site - www.ladybaileycaravans.co.uk/goodbye.php I’m with you on passing it on and possibly being sleeping directors but maybe there are greater forces at play here? I had heard other rumours too but didn’t want to report that on this vlog. *edit* and with regards to dealers, distance isn’t really an issue, we had our motorhomes from Warminster, usually 2 - 2.5 hours drive from home, hence the AWS mobile servicing.

I would try chipping sodbury caravans as Webb's in Salisbury don't do any warranty on work as they would not do mine even thou they where the supplying dealer when it was new

There is a place nearby in Poole/Bournemouth that will be better for us here in Weymouth. I didn’t know that Webb’s don’t do warranty work though, thanks for that bit of information. I work for a large main dealer and we are dropping warranty work next in a attempt to save the business. You receive less cash from the manufacturer to do the warranty repairs than it costs, so dealers can no longer support this service.
....unless there is a massive price crash on the way and I can't see that happening (unless it's the second hand market when it's now probably a buyers market?). Cheers, Andy.

It appears they have been trying to sell the business for a couple of years, but in this financial climate there can't be many buyers around.
All caravan dealers are in financial trouble at the moment, so more will go next year.
