Rocky you have no idea how much I appreciate this video. Fortunately, I had very good parents and my father was in WW2 and landed in Normandy France on Omaha Beach. So basically, I was raised in a military background. My father taught me about entegredity and morals. As I got older, he introduced me to deer hunting and fishing. He always had deer hunting in his blood, and I was the opposite. I had fishing in mine. We spent many days in the woods together. As he got older he started having trouble getting around but I always made it a point to get him to his shooting house every year. My father passed away at the age of 87 and there is not a moment I dont appreciate what he did for me. He always made time to get me out in the woods or on the water. I guess what I am trying to say is this video reminds me when I spent time with my father and one day you will look back and Thank God for these moments. I remember coming into your shop there on 231 and at the time your were knee deep in mounting big game animals and basically turned the fish over to your dad. I remember back then it would take 14 to 16 months to get a fish back because both of you were covered up but after getting my fish you guys did for me I would have waited 3 years. That thin metal flake gold painted on each scale would make the fish look like he had just come out of the water. Your father did a tremendous job on every one of my fish and I will never forget when me and him would talk. He is a treasure and I owe my freedom to him due to his sacrifices in the military. Thanks Rocky for sharing this video. Your father is a treasure and one day you will look back and treasure every moment he shared with you. And thanks Mr.Drake for everything over th years. You got me beat on the biggest crappie but you don't have me on the biggest smallmouth!

Wish I still had my dad around to drift for crappie, 50 years ago we would put in at Browns marina and go to the big river bridge, highway 431 and drift the main river channel bumping bottom for crappie with a 2 hook set with minnows and a weight on bottom.. Such great memories..

This is probably my favorite of your videos to date. I love hearing from the members of the Greatest Generation who are still with us. I imagine when your Dad was growing up in the Depression and WW2, they didn't throw back a lot of fish. Those little ones made a good dinners for them. I am so grateful to men like him who defended our freedom and prosperity, so we can enjoy the luxury of fishing merely for sport.

Great video Rocky! Loved it that your 92 year old dad was fishing! A video with your dad, yourself, Richard, and Lisa fishing would be great! My mom was born 11/18/31, and just died at 90 years old on 11/13/2022. It was God’s grace that she could still walk, she had polio at 4 years old. I cried on Mother’s Day, and frankly right now as I am typing this. Older parents are so special, my dad died in 2008.
