In tranfer epithet- adjectives are transferred. Whereas personification -human qualities are transferred. So if you see the example of -the fan is running - running is not an adjective but it is a human qualities- hence personification. Whereas- the night was dangerous- dangerous is an adjective. Hence transferred epithet.
