Factory Town Strategy & Tactics Quick Tip: The High Velocity (And Volume) Dairy District

  • The HVDD or High Velocity Dairy District (High Volume would also work) is an early-mid game build where a single farm off of a single fodder crop field can supply your town and later, your town with 6/6 happiness worth of basic foods, and 2 happiness points worth of clothing. For your more distant towns, this district can pump tons of milk out to them, letting them enjoy 5/6 happiness worth of food. It might not be the healthiest diet, but it certainly is healthy for your economy.

    This was a super fun build! So creative ... and the "but wait, there's more" just got me every single time! This has been a great Strategy & Tactics series! We can see the hard work and hours put in Pinstar! Genius!

    When I first started, I'd raise my farms to 10 yellow coin boosters, and the extreme output combined with a desire to not cover farmland with chutes led me to a way to extract raw grain very quickly: minecarts. Put a loop of track above the ground between the farm and the barn with minecarts every 2 spaces, and with minecart loaders on all 3 of the faces on the side of the farm. With a minecart always available for loading at any given time, even a 10 yellow coin boosted + happiness boosted + farming specialized farm will not saturate its output as long as there is space in the barn at the other end. If instead you put a minecart every 4 spaces, and then have two farms and two loops that interleave on their return from the barn, they can also balance two farms into a single storage unit instead.
    Being able to use the only instant load/unload method in the game makes minecarts underrated, imo.

    Do you about the page up/down (raise/lower) and holding control (keep same height) while placing conveyors/chutes? It will raise and lower the height so you dont have to mess with the scaffolding. It might not work great for that slant, but you could also just place the scaffolds at the start and end, then it will auto-fill in the missing scaffolding at the correct height. It works great for chutes between the buildings, though. You hardly ever need to build scaffolding anymore as long as sometimes you don't mind if some of it is floating. I didn't realize that until after reading the forums, so you might not have noticed it either :D I'm done playing factory town, but I still like watching your videos.

      I've been playing this game for a couple of years now and just today I learned the PageUp/PageDn trick after watching a speedrun on another channel. So much to learn!

    It looks to me like you could also move some cloth to the general store - maybe with another weighted splitter. That way people get wool, cloth and shirts.

      The workshop makes enough cloth to both supply the kitchen and make shirts. Any additional demand on cloth would overtax the workshop unless you fed it with coin boosters. Even then, the difference in providing cloth vs raw wool is minimal. Not to mention, the wood diamond, once upgraded to make cloth belts, can supply cloth for that 3rd point of clothing happiness.
