That's a beautiful property. I wish people would start flocking back to these beautiful places and revive them. We're "de-volving" as a society.

Yes, I know. People don't even socialize anymore. Crazy to see. Call me old school, but I love malls and shopping at malls is fun.

It’s So sad as this is a very big bright lovely mall indeed with very nice store fronts . But no one shopping at least not in your video . By the way I do appreciate you covering some of each Malls History Anchors ,Heyday & Decline . So sad for some of these nicer malls to just slip into disuse or obscurity . I grew up in the late 70s & 80s when Going to the Mall when very much an IN thing to do !! So much fun . I still love in person shopping today . Thanks for another interesting video . 😊😊

there are empty malls and then there are eerily empty malls...this one's the latter. it does seem too large but at least its light and airy inside with tasteful, 1990s-esque colors. great video.

I was surprised that the Bath and Body Works was closed! On another note the Steel Works in the overhead reminds me of the Ashtabula Mall which was an original Cafaro Company asset which also brings up the occupancy of the 2 malls. Though this one has a few more stores minus the before mentioned Bath and Body Works. For every ones info the Findlay Mall in Ohio will be closing next year by the end of January 2025 and if you haven't done a video on it Doomie it would be cool with your narrative and style!!!!!

Another sad victim of the "over-malling" of America, albeit a beautiful one. As always, Doomie, your music selections are really cool. All in all, another terrific mall video. And who knew there was still a GNC in operation?

Deader than dead … what a shame.. a nice clean looking space although I find the roof lattice work a bit fussy….can’t see this mall coming back in its current form… too much space to fill, even for auxiliary uses..

im 57, and do miss the bustle of the mall. however, now i just order most things online, and doordash my groceries. maybe life just got too busy for many of us?

On my lone visit before JCPenney closed, I recall the deadest section was the hallway leading up to where the Carson's Men Store(and former Venture) used to operate. Doomie walks into this hallway, at 3:11 into this video. I vaguely remember that Aeropostale was closing at this mall(I really should look up the year that Aeropostale closed), at the time of my lone visit here. Sears was the first anchor to close(located north of the food court), then Carson's in 2018at the time Bon-Ton went bankrupt), and if my memory is right JCPenney closed at the time of the company's bankruptcy in 2020.
Doomie also should've mentioned DeBartolo cloned this mall design twice. The other mall that used this SAME design, was Illinois Star Centre in Marion, IL. Where the mall hallways closed in 2017(and have been abandoned since), and only Dillard's and Target remain open there.

I was watching this video thinking that somewhere i remembered seeing a sister mall with this design that was also dead!

I grew up nearby in Kankakee, and I was at this mall on opening day. The problem was that it was too little, too late. Malls were already on a downward trend, and even at it's peak, there was still about 1/4 of the stores sitting vacant. Also, about another 30-40 minutes north was Orland Square. A much larger and nicer mall that everyone from Kankakee County had already been traveling to for years. Finally, a quick note. There was no cinema when the mall opened. That came years later.
