Hey there, at 1:42 if you count the second store on the left, that's where a video game store used to be called Planet X, it was then I think bought out by GameStop. This was back in 1999 or so lol.
Agreed with admiring a mall that doesn't quit. The styling grew on me, glad it doesn't have the mid to late 90s tile and look that so many bland malls took. The theater may have the tile but the neon is redeeming.
I lived in Oviedo all my life, and went to this mall back in 1999/2000 when I was still a kid/young teenager, this mall WAS PACKED!! As I was growing up in life, the mall got better and better, when I went to middle school I came here almost every friday night to hang out and play at F.Y.E. with my friends. walked around everywhere, the Oviedo Marketplace was truly a fantastic place.
This past week an article was published in Newsday that said the movie theater at Broadway Commons is closing at the end of the 2024 holiday season on January 5, 2025. This is because the mall has future plans: it’s being mostly demolished saved for its remaining anchor stores, which are Target and IKEA. The Macys store at the mall, which opened in 1956 as a Gertz, was closed in early March 2020 just before the covid-19 pandemic was declared. The reason why the mall is being demolished is because a new outdoor shopping center called The Shoppes at Broadway is going to be constructed. Once the movie theater closes the malls remaining tenants are expected to be evicted.
I don't like this mall that much, but I also don't think it's a horrible mall. The river of water was a unique idea. That's pretty cool. I also love the neon lights where the movie theatre is and I really like the rainbow neon where the entrance/exit of this place is. It was nice to see this video either way.😊
I've been to this mall, and it is very nice. Considering its origin in the late 90's, it's still having that new mall smell. I paid $10 for a movie ticket on a weekday afternoon, 10 years ago!!! I paid $8 in Greensboro, NC last week. Oviedo people have money, but most of the retail dollars are being spent at Altamonte Mall (right off I-4), opened 20 years before Oviedo Mall, or they go to Waterford Lakes Town Center which opened a year after Oviedo Mall. This is a classic case study of "Location, Location, Location" Altamonte Mall being by a freeway, Oviedo Mall by a toll road and Waterford being just south of UCF and Central Florida Research Park. Not much of a retail corridor by Oviedo Mall either.
The reason why people go to Altamonte Springs mall is because decent closing stores there are almost non existent at Oviedo Mall. I dont know how it stays open.
Its a cute mall butt I dont know how a mall that offers little to do decent clothing options stays open. The few times Ive been there its a ghost town just like it is in this video. Its giving The Last of US lol
I live near here and ALWAYS see movies at this mall. It has that perfect nostalgic vibe that’s hard to come by in an expensive city like Orlando
For your time, efforts and troubles. Thanks and Keep em Rolling!

There used to be a health food supermarket called Chamberlain’s that was only accessible from outside. Now it’s an Italian bakery.
That GameStop used to be Hot Topic. The Hot Topic closed in 2017.
No Hot Topic 😢

I love the colored windows. Looks like a very nice mall inside!
Grew up going here. Best food place is Teryaki Japan in the court.
I like the cement. Great news a mall doing well! 🎉

That place looks cool.
I have some awesome friends that live near the Oviedo Mall there I go there on occasions , Hello Oviedo !!
Nice mall overall. It's a shame that its location has made sure that it has always performed poorly.
3.06 that poor lone lightbulb gives up the ghost
This mall has been frequently featured on a RUclipsr sketch comedy dude named Joe Rauth.
