Over the years of watching the Wizard's videos, I've noticed his magical skills progressively develop to even higher levels - he used to tug on a wheel quite hard to ascertain the states of bearings & bushes... But in more recent videos he merely seems to just touch a wheel before being able to judge the quality of components. Truly a magician of the highest calibre!!!
I bought a 2014 Hemi Charger off Ebay last month. Had a bent pushrod and the valve cover was off. Dodge dealer diagnosed it as a bad engine and quoted the seller $10k for a long block. Bought it for $2500 with 120k. Pulled the heads off it, and found 2 bad lifters. Put New cam/lifters, 1 pushrod and an AFM solenoid in it. Car is back and running like a champ. I went through it and replaced everything that needed to be replaced. Have $4k into it total including purchase price. Fun car to drive.🤩
@Issan Cali Reject LOL, I have little to no charisma either - but fortunately found a niche - find a niche and you can do really well in life - at least until the niche disappears...
I personally love the 2006-2010 dodge chargers , I’ve had 2 of them and I miss my last one. The intake manifold and the air intake is the same as the r/t, the difference between them are the tuning in the computer and the suspension. They’re great cars if they’re taken care of, but it is getting hard to find nice ones out there anymore.
Great car ! I have a 2007 charger Daytona R/T my number is 358 out of 1500 that they made.Mine is a sub-lime color. I have over 300,000 miles on it same starter and hoses and it still runs great. I go to all the car showes here in Tennessee and Florida and I have over 40 trophies with a car show this weekend. Thanks for showing yours.
Charger owners are either the former or future Corvette owners apparently. 1st of 2 built on the 31st of April built in this color, with these floor mats and a glossy orange peel paint only on the gas tank lid.
They are great cars for us older guys who say ‘they don’t make them like that anymore’. And by the way thank god they don’t make them like that anymore . I remember 20 k on tires . My 65 gto felt like it would scrape the door handles when going fast in a turn . Just sold it a couple years ago but yes I wish I would of kept it . I had a 70 400 block -670 heads I think was the numbers . Headers , crane cam . Ran 13.2 in the quarter. My 2018 accord dead stock except for a tune runs 13.8 and gets 33 mpg .
These Daytonas are awesome cars. A few mods like a different cam shaft and exhaust can really bring out even more performance. Fun fact, if you ever get a check engine light and codes come up, do the "key dance" and the codes will come up on the EVIC where the mileage normally appears; to do it switch it to on, acc, on, acc, on; it needs to be done fairly quickly though. There's other goodies in the EVIC if you hold the inner two down buttons (music note and the navigation one) on the steering wheel for five seconds; there's a digital speedometer, oil pressure, digital tachometer, and more! I'm surprised to see one of these without the REC navigation headunit, especially since I've grew up seeing them with it all the time. Something else to mention is that the DC jack in the center console is always powered, so you may want to relocate phone chargers and such to the DC jack in the pop-out ashtray (that one is switched). Another fun fact, the cubby next to the shifter is a "phone holder"
I've tore down a few of those 5.7 hemi's lately and I like how they are set up. not too many sensors and simple wiring also. I may have to get me one as well!
These aren't bad. The 05-08s, I'd just replace the valve springs with those from the 6.1, which are of a different material but work on 5.7s. And of course, disable MDS.
a lovely car like that would be such a great thing to own, personally I would fix it up while driving it around and get a bunch of fun. but that's just me.
"When you drive this car you're driving freedom down the road, lemme tell ya. 'Murica!" I always love this, because the Charger (along with the Challenger and 300) has only ever been manufactured in Canada exclusively, and the Hemi V8 engines are manufactured in Mexico.
Well, Canada and Mexico are both free countries, too, and Canada and the United States were both once the northern and southern halves of what was British North America, before a disagreement resulting in it being partitioned in two
I really like this, it’s a rare gem - a light resto: a good polish and fix the broken things is all it needs! So glad it’s fallen into the hands of the Wizard - it will live on! Awesome video
Good pick. Remember that back in the 70's, Chargers, Cudas, Challengers (as well as any midsize GM with a big V 8 were just used cars that high school kids bought and tore up. Now they are worth BIG money just because there aren't many good ones left. This one will be like that. Do the cosmetics while parts can still be had. The door dent can be fixed via paintless dent repair. The plastic fascia breaks can be repaired. Clean it all up top to bottom. It won't be worth a huge amount, at least not for a few more years, but it IS worth keeping.
This car was from the Mercedes Benz ownership period and I bet it was made in Canada when quality mattered. I myself own a 2006 Chrysler 300 Canadian built and have had excellent service out of it. After Fiat took over it was a downhill slide.
If you had to get a Daytona with mods, this is the one to get. Those goofballs removed the cats and the mufflers but left the resonator. After living the Dukes of Hazzard dream, they thought the engine was roached and sold it. Looks like the Wizard scored a win!
@@w.e.s. Wrong. Look up "resonator delete" on the LX cars. Blastin Bob's has been selling a resonator delete kit since these cars came out. I've owned my 2006 Magnum RT AWD since new and should know a little bit about these cars.
I've got a 2009 RT and It's in pretty good shape, it had been taken cared of very well since it left the dealership, I'm the second owner and I may be selling it for 7000 or even 8000 in here in Mexico because it's in good shape. Right now It's being worked on, but unfortunately some spare parts are kind of hard to find here, and bringing them from the US can prove to be a bit costly sometimes, that is usually the last resource. However, I don't mind paying for the repairments, which doesn't mean I can try to lower the costs by any means necessary, because overall, it is still cheaper to maintain when you realize the longevity and fun that it brings to the table. You may pay, for example, 1000 or 2000 on repairs in case many things need fixing, or just preventive maintenance, but the car will ride smoothly for almost a decade. Having owned it for 5 years, I did nothing but the regular service and drove it in Mexico City, a quite harsh city for any car to stay in good shape due to the crazy bumps and uneven potholed streets. Unfortunately, I ended up flying (Dukes of Hazzard style) twice due to some bumps on the road that were basically camouflaged walls in the pavement positioned right at the end of a downhill street as in here some bumps are not signaled properly, and their dimensions are not standardized nor properly placed. In spite of that, The charger's been working fine for 5 years. In reality, I actually didn't have enough money back then to give it a more in-depth TLC. However, I always made sure the engine has been properly taken care for, but right now I am happily paying for the maintenance because I believe that the repair for 5 years of "a bit of" heavy use is well worth it, plus It was my first ride and I was learning all the tricks of the road. Now, I think that the chances for me to purposefully damage it or mistreat it are quite lower than at first, not that I wasn't taking care of it, I was, but my lack of expertise behind the wheel was still a factor, yet, I expect it to last for a long time with the proper care. My reason for wanting to sell it is just that I can see how it's getting harder to get spare parts, I am willing to pay don't get me wrong, but my fear is for the parts to end up unavailable for good, specially in here, and I am not in the business of hunting for spare parts, you can still get them. Nevertheless, being the first generation or chargers, I fear I may have to leave a perfectly good car to rust in a garage because one damn part may be out of stock. Note: If any of you know any good Mopar or Chrysler site that has global shipping, I'd greatly appreciate it
Heh another fellow mexican city, is nice to see those charger still good even with our pothole per 5 meter, currently trying to restore my grandfathers Valiant Volare 1979 with slant six 225
@@SUPERBOBESPONJA1000 I know!, our moon-like roads aren't really keen on chargers or any car actually. That's a pretty nice ride you got there! hopefully you'll be riding it sooner rather than later!
Those engines are easily good for 400K miles as long as it's taken care of. Deboss garage did a tear down of the 5.7 or 6.2 with 350k and it was surprisingly in good shape. The bearings were like new! Some other channel has a pick up with really high miles with the 5.7. I wouldn't mind having a high miles 5.7/6.2 if it was taken care of.
@@methanial73 Basically just a rare rare oops issue, its overheating. Rather overheating and then cooling down, different metals used, pop there it goes. That's why rad hoses and a thermostat was done very soon after i bought my car.
My mother had an '09 Charger R/T and I had a '14 R/T. Neither were perfect quality-wise but they weren't nightmares either and they were pretty fun to drive around.
"When you drive this car, you're driving Freedom." What a great line, laughed out loud when I heard that. One of the Big 3 marketing teams should pick that up.
Great find! Desantis is coming out with a twin turbo inline 6. They can keep it. I have an 18 Charger R/T that has gotten 33 mpg on highway on cruise at 70 mph. That new 6 w/turbos is not likely to do that. Purchased mine in 2018 w/ a little less than 5000 miles for $28000.00. Have been offered $31000.00 after 4 years. Has 28000 miles in it. If I don't lean on it in town it will get almost 17 mpg. Myself being 79 years; love to hit the on ramp floored. Had another Geezer pal along and he said it relieved his constipation. Love the car. I believe it is very under rated. City police have them w/the 3.6. They say they are the 1st cars they have had w/ least trouble. Have fun Mr. Car Wizard. Enjoy your content a lot.
They were built like junk and are junk full of plastic trash can material and wear out twice as fast the old ones still can be found and are being found quite a few are on RUclips but it takes longer than looking 5 minutes away at a local auction and more than 6 grand I see one every summer drive around its a 69 but it’s a plain Jane navy blue would make a good resto mod add the exhaust RT badges and valances and its in a state no one would look because everyone thinks everything is rusty here this car is not rusty would look great hell it looks good the way it does now better than that sick reject from a lemon factory and it’s not the same dodge that produced the 69 it was the real one not the newer bought out version
Love Mrs Wizard's "flight attendant" voice!! 👍🙂👍 You did well with this one for sure! Look around the used car marketplace, high mileage is far more common than it used to be. Our 2003 Honda Pilot has 258,000 and is going strong.
I got me the same car Car Wizard for $3,000 and Clean Title and I got me a CBD vaporizer 😂206,000 miles and I had to replace a head from the infamous dropped valve and the front end is completely rebuilt and it’s getting a new bumper & head lights! I don’t know what I’m gonna do next but it’s definitely getting a hellcat motor in the near future! Then if it stops working and the block is clean I got a entire Hemi block to play with!
I had a 2007 plum crazy Daytona #1370/1400. It was amazing! Lasted 240,000 miles on the stock hemi. Put a new hemi in it and eventually it got hit by a person and totaled it. I wish I still had it, such a cool car!
My wife drove the Gen one as you like to refer to it as ( 06 charger R/T ) for about 12?yrs. until I bought her a brand new Kia Telluride. However she rejected the idea of selling this car, so I e kept it and occasionally drive it. The car has never been wrecked and adult driven with 118000 miles on the untouched motor except for frequent oil change intervals. The only problem we ever had was a leaking water pump that was caught before the car ever got low on coolant a few yrs ago, so I went ahead and overhauled the entire cooling system, hoses, thermostat and also a new surpintine belt ( no better time to change one) I think I’m ready for new tie rods and struts. While the car has never been beat on , these roads now will wear out a tank, lol , great Vlog!
Man, this is one of my main goals in life. To have the financial stability to just buy a cool car on a whim because its a good deal! Awesome find car wizard!
The car looks good and for $3K you don't have much into it. I would get together with Hoovie's detail shop and see what they can do on some spruce up on the doors and that engine compartment needs a good detail.
I factory ordered a 2010 RT AWD. Best car I ever had. Kept it 10 years. Not a single issue in that time. Got top dollar at trade in (Caddy XTS Vsport) because it was tight as a drum and flawless inside and out. Love these things.
Man....looking at this thing brings me back to when I was 18 and driving around in my dad's old Dodge Magnum. There is just something about these cars that have such a road presence. These cars were very powerful for the money back in the day. I'd kill to have an SRT8 in this generation
Great score, Wizard. Those seats are really nice and on par with the SRT8 seats. These cars are built on a modified Mercedes E class platform and the biggest concern with high mileage 2005-07 hemis are the valve seat drop issue. With the new heads, that motor should be good to go for another 250,000 miles.
I bought my 2006 Top Banana Charger brand new and still own and drive it. Garaged day and night since new with only 74k miles. It is in almost showroom condition. And I love it.
Dang I remember when I was in high school and visited a dodge dealership. There was a brand new yellow 2006 Charger Daytona identical to that one on the showroom floor. It was my aspirational car for a bit. At the time it was one of the coolest sedans! Time flies
6:35 Hey just a quick thing to note - the 5.7L Hemi was updated in 2009, and afterwards it was rated at 370hp. I have a black 2010 R/T Charger and I absolutely adore it.
Wizard, I had a 2005 Dodge Magnum rt, had the timing chain snap on me at 100k! That's apparently an issue all the way to I believe 2011 on the hemi's. Keep an eye out, though if you have new cylinder heads.... It may've happened already, I always let these warm up for 5 mins in the winter
We have 3 Chargers of this Gen in the family, I have a 2007 Sublime Daytona, moms got a 2009 AWD R/T and dads got a 2010 low mile retired police car Hemi Pursuit. The Daytona's share some suspension, brake, and cooling components with the police package cars and a freer flowing exhaust for like 5 more hp than a standard R/T
Just an FYI, the vinyl, spoiler, and grille are not supposed to be glossy, they are Matte from the factory, but most people when they got it oiled them up to a glossy look, usually if they waxed the car and got some on it, oiling it up was the only way to get rid of the white from the wax. I actually detailed these cars straight off the truck back in 2006, working at the local Dodge dealership. There were 3 special colors for 2006: Top Banana, Hemi Orange, and Plum Crazy Purple.
The top Banana cars came out second, and a lot of people came back and traded them back in to get the plum crazy Purple model. For some reason, the dealership I worked at got like 20 of these Top Banana model chargers, and 10 of the Plum Crazy Purple. We were actually trading cars with other Dodge dealerships to get more of them! The Marines from the local Marine Corps base couldn't get enough of them!
@@Celician83 if I'm not mistaken I think the Hemi orange was 2007 color not 100% sure on that though I think torred is the rarest color for 2006 only 2,000 were made mine is number 977
@@Sappy6517 it was sooo difficult for me to believe how rare the special color Daytona Chargers were because there was literally an entire section of the dealership with nothing but those Chargers on the lot. Was actually funny that one of the Plum Crazy's actually escaped the craze and was on the lot from 2006 all the way til mid 2008, just sitting there. I imagine when they sold it they replaced the tires and battery cause it sat there so long untouched
I've got an '06 300 C, which is basically a Charger R/T in a tuxedo & I LOVE it! I'm the 2nd owner & it's in amazing shape! I was in awe of the tech & luxury features it has for the 1st week. I did have the "suitcase" muffler & resonators removed & glass packs put on, but it's not too rowdy. Performance is more than adequate for me.
@@limbogt747 with the exception of what I've heard about the valve seats & MDS lifters, very, but DO NOT neglect oil changes! I do mine EVERY 3000 miles with Valvoline High Mileage & a Napa/Wix Platinum Filter & every other service add Motorkote. Do that with all my vehicles.
Get all the parts for it you can now while you can! That car will definitely become more collectable and valuable if you keep it in roadworthy condition. You'll probably be able to sell it at a profit someday no matter how much money you spend on it!
He’s got more than enough projects and not sure any collector is going to bother with a 250,000 mile hard-driven example for top dollar. Wizards plan to make cheap repairs and just drive it is sound.
There are a few nice ones....you'll have to go to the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, PA in July to find them....they probably won't sell though. Enjoyed the beginning...probably close to Mrs. Wizard's real reaction. Haha. Didn't know about the end of the Hemi....thanks for that news.
Between Jared and the Wizard, I'm glad I decided to hang on to my 09 R/T. Upgraded to a nav radio with backup camera, and it has everything I need now.
Nice. I had a 2007 Charger R/T with the Road and Track package. It was a dependable fun car with the small hemi like you have. Something happens to Dodge's of this vintage where the converters clog around 125k and the engines blow up. I know 3 people that happened to.
I'm the original owner of #3874, and still own it today. My car only has 45,000 miles on it, and is immaculate. I have the exact same option package as you have with the same radio, heated seats and dual zone climate control. I love my car and care for it as best as I can. Tie rods are the #1 most common issue with these cars. I had to have mine replaced at around 25,000 miles, and I feel that the alignment has never been fully correct since. Over the last few months I've even been thinking about contacting you, and setting up an appointment sometime this summer, if you would be willing to look at the tie rods on mine, and perform an alignment. Could be a pretty good opportunity to see a very good condition example.
I'm shocked he bought a charger. They're actually really good! I had a 2013 charger police package with the hemi and 186k miles. Great running car. They last a long time. $3k is a nice deal on that. It looks clean.
Great score Wizzard! It's so true that most of these cars are completely clapped out and gone. This one is saveable for sure, I think it looks cleaner without the side moulding. I also think an interior mounted fog machine would be awesome to give it the vape cloud effect every time you step out of the car...
I was first like, "250,000miles! WIZARD!!" but you've convinced me this is actually a good investment. Just an idea, but how about taking off all the door mouldings and the small Hemi badge and instead have a long, black, vinyl stripe with "Hemi" instead, to match the curved one on the rear quarter? Also have the wheels painted black too, then it'll be a full-on black and yellow "Bumblebee" look!
@@JohnSmith-yv6eq Not really. Two door strips are already missing and vinyl stripes can be removed easier than fitting. Painting wheels black to even up the look of the car can also be reversed when/if "originality" ever matters to this apollo-mileage car.
That was a good price on that car. I agree with your mind set about not getting too deep with the cosmetic repairs and dumping a ton of money on a high mile car. I would suggest rather then replacing the missing belt moldings on the doors, you just remove the two that are left and maybe massage the drivers door to get the worst of the dent out. I think without the belt moldings, the car has a more cleaner look to it. In fact some versions of the 2006-2010 Charger don't have the belt moldings at all.
Well, to call this a REAL Daytona, you need to put on a big spoiler like the one on Hoovie's Superbird and find a custom pointy front bumper. Then it'll be a REAL Daytona! lol Also, Hoovie's a really bad influence on you, you're slowly getting a fleet of cars that can rival his! lol It's actually a cool car. I wouldn't be surprised tho, that except for the removed cats, the rest of the exhaust system is the one that was on it from factory (or at least they were replaced by factory ones when needed).
Mrs Wiz is right, WOW that is a lot of miles for a Dodge product! Mr Wiz is also right, WOW $3k is cheap for any kind of running car these days, even if it does have 250k on it. I would not be surprised if the mpg and cost of gas was the contributing factor for the seller to let it go at that price.
@@chassegallerie2910 Yes, he's stated before that he knows quite a bit about his old mercedes' (not sure which one). Also, when he swapped his porsche for the first time, he did help Wizard somewhat. It's just a lot easier to have Wizard fix his cars for him, and he can come across as an idiot on camera.
My friend bought an 07 rt with 150,000 miles. I agree they are all destroyed when sold. He paid 4500 for the car with a bad ball joint, lower control arm and lateral arm, bald tires, interior falling apart, and straight piped with no mufflers. Once it’s fixed it’s been a great car. He Still need to do the power steering pump, it’s shot
Great video! I’ve got a 2010 Charger that I bought brand new off the lot, still have it. They ride and handle great, mostly due to the fact that they are all Mercedes underpinnings. I believe the front suspension is from a C class and the rear an E class, although I may have that backwards. The only downfall is they go out of alignment somewhat easily. You’ll know when the ass end starts dancing around at 80 mph. When my girl starts “twerking”, that’s when I know it’s time to get her to an alignment rack.
Idk why I love these videos so much. I’ve never worked on a cars guts, but I love everything else about them lol I’ve only ever installed speakers, but Anyhoo, good to see the wizard and mrs wizard doing well
Great find! Finding a RT Daytona in these years in decent condition is becoming harder and harder. I absolutely love my ‘07 Daytona in Plum Crazy Purple that has under 40k miles on it. #69 out of 1400. I’m excited to follow this Top Banana’s story on your channel!
Hey Wizard, great find! You're right about the 1st gen ones being non existent in decent shape. That's a nicely optioned one as well. They're all built in Brampton, (Toronto) Ontario. I always liked those. It's going to be really nice when you're done with it. Im amazed at how minty those wheels are. Have fun with it and I'm looking forward to more videos on it.
There's some ticking time bomb in that thing, but considering its to beat up to hell and back means the previous owner was pretty conservative and look like it's worth 3k all day long. This is something like wizard can afford when it does blow up, but not the average "vape bro" can afford
I really like seeing you get cars like this one that just need some TLC and a little wrenching to make them something fun without breaking the bank. I would like to see you do a gen 4 mustang as they are getting pretty hard to find now that are not roached out....Thanks for the great content and please keep it coming!!
I had a 5.7L Magnum for 10 years and loved it. Mechinically it was pretty excellent, though it had some electrical gremlins in it and the voltage was allover the place, especially in hot weather. No one was ever able to properly diagnose the issue.

The Dodge Charger was reintroduced for 2006 with a limited production Dodge Charger Daytona package that included a sportier interior, classic high impact exterior colors, a rear spoiler, a front chin spoiler, a blacked out grille surround, rear quarter panel striping reading "DAYTONA" on either side, a blackout vinyl between the taillights on the decklid, and a black vinyl on the hood with the word "HEMI" cut out twice. Heritage R/T badges replaced the Stock R/T's chrome badges. A performance suspension with load-leveling rear shocks was also standard, as well as unique wheels. 2006 wheels were the stock R/T 18" wheels with charcoal grey painted pockets, and lower profile wider tires. 2007 to 2009 wheels are 20" chrome clad wheels. In 2008, the rear quarter panel stripes were removed, and replaced with a strobe stripe on the lower portions of the doors that reads "DAYTONA" towards the front of the stripe. The hood decal was also modified. The 2006-2008 Daytona gains 10 hp (7 kW) over the standard Charger R/T via a freer flowing exhaust system featuring a single pass center muffler, and a larger diameter stock air cleaner giving it 350 hp. The car also had unique engine management software that removed the stock R/T speed limiter. The 2009 features the new Variable Camshaft Timing HEMI, producing 368 hp (274 kW). Might want to stick a camera down into the cylinders, they noted a new head from the Valve seat issue, if they just slapped a new head on you could have damaged cylinders hiding in there. Does it smoke any? I bought an 05 Durango for 500 bucks that had a dropped valve seat that cracked the piston in half. Had to tear it down and rebuild it.
I think you got a really good car, Mr. Wizard. Not a fan of that color because of a past history with cars that color but for the price you paid and your own mechanical skills, you got a winner. Didn't know Chrysler had killed the Hemi, that was news to me. Please keep us updated on what you discover as you drive this car. Hope you have many enjoyable miles with it!
I just love the "first gen" Daytonas. Looks so good. My Plum Crazy has only done 60000 miles. Too bad that it's missing the original 20" wheels. I've upgraded mine with the SRT8 20" ALCOA wheels.
I always thought this body style looked better than the current one. This one has an almost a 50's style C pillar, more aggressive front facia and overall more distintive look. The current version is more generic and boring. Good score Wizard.
Question for a Dodge mechanic on the 3.5 DOHC V6 that came in these era Chargers & Magnums. Violent sudden overheating. Fans do kick on. Coolant system pressure test done, holds pressure. Blue die head gasket 'sniffer' test done, passed. But let it idle or drive for a while and it'll get up to temp. But suddenly it'll start puking out it's coolant guts and the temp will spike. My guess is that there's a cracked head or block. Expands when hot to allow exhaust gasses to escape (causing overheating) but cools enough and seals for it to pass the pressure test. Anyone ever tear one of these motors apart to find the root cause? Tried some searches, but most were just suggestions and none difinitive. VT247
Try pulling a vacuum on the cooling system and see if it holds vacuum. When does it overheat? At idle, or when driving? Can you see coolant flow when running? Has the thermostat ever been changed? Is the water pump noisy? Start basic and make sure it’s the engine and not something in the system first
Probably not very helpful because it’s nearly impossible to check, but have heard of plastic impeller failure on some Chrysler water pumps. No sign of leakage but impeller broken or stripped, so it does nothing. To verify gotta remove it so like I said, not sure it’s helpful.
@@retributionaura Yup. I have seen the plastic impellers come apart on the water pumps. I had an old Police Intrepid (2004)with the 3.5l HO the city gave up on. Car would run hot, but would cool down if you turned on the heater full blast. Checked everything externally including chem block check. pulled water pump and it was new. Pulled heads to check anyways for a head gasket and found plastic water pump impeller stuck in the input passage to the head blocking flow of Drivers side head. Thats where the thermostat sat down low.
3.5L v6 is NOT DOHC. It's a SOHC. As for overheating, I've owned at least a half dozen of those in LHS's and Police Pursuit Intrepids. I have run across the stripped out impeller on a brand new MOPAR brand replacement water pump. I've also bought at auction an Intrepid with a history of overheating. That turned out to be an incorrectly replaced thermostat. The thermostat was installed BACKWARDS. The t/stat also has to be oriented a precise way, too. In all fairness to the previous mechanic, the t/stat is a real PITA to replace because of its location. These engines also are difficult to bleed-out the air which can be trapped in the heads, etc. Consult the intrepid forum for various bleeding procedures.
Common thing people would do to these things is park them backwards up a hill, fill the exhaust with water on a freezing cold day. Let the water freeze in the exhaust then crack them up and floor it. That busted up the baffles and shot the stuffing out the tailpipe. Probably why yours is so loud with the baffles still installed.
The Wizard is not concerned about the price because he knows he’ll get that back with Hoovies next visit 😂. It’s hard to believe that a Dodge product has actually made it to 250k miles. It belongs in a museum.
I see these things with pretty high mileage for sale alot on FB Marketplace. My mother has a 4cyl Avenger with over 150k I'm pretty sure, and I personally had a Dodge Nitro a couple years ago that had almost 200k when I sold it and still ran fine. In my opinion just keep the oil changed regularly with quality oil and these last just as long as anything else as long as it doesn't have the 2.7L in it.
Scotty Kilmer has really ruined the car scene on RUclips. It’s possible for a non Japanese car to make it to very high miles. The care from owners is often more important than the brand it’s from
@@ianberry5562 amen, I live in Ireland and its common place to see all sorts here with 300+ thousand miles. I just don't understand how 200 is high milage, personally every car should do that at least. A machine just needs to be maintained, as well as properly operated
Love the daytona! if you add a blower into the car, you would love it even more and thats a better profit in the end. I see these and newers ones running low numbers at yellow belly dragstrip few times a week. Alot of fun factor in these cars
I bought a G8 last year in similar a situation. Struts were all roached and the prop shaft center bearing was destroyed. Other than that, it was in great shape. zero rust anywhere for 4k. put a little coin in to it and it's perfect.
Nice find. I stil have my 06 R/T. Bought the car new. Just crossed 315K miles on today's fill up. I also got a really solid score a couple weeks ago. Bought an 06 Durango 5.7 AWD for 2.5K. All that needed to be done was new tires, MDS sensor, water pump, radiator and associated gaskets.
3K?! That's like a couple trips to the grocery store😄Also, should've bought a 4 cylinder if you wanted something quiet...It's got a Hemi...it's going to be loud.
Millions of $ are spent in research to eliminate NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) by the OEM. Bubba-ing the exhaust is throwing away all that research..... usually making things worse...and illegal at the same time....
Congrats on the purchase it really was a steal. I have a 09 Chrysler 300c 5.7 vvt. Its such a badass cruiser with a bad ass rumble. Had an 08 droped valve seat and was such a horrible feeling . Definitely like the 09 hemi more. Has way more top end than the 05-08 hemis
Wizard i have a question for you; i have a 2007 charger R/T (its AWD which is neat) but what ive noticed is i have a bit of a transmission seal leak. its only got 124k miles so i obviously want to take care of it, but i just want to know what the correct way to check transmission level is on these motors as there's no dipstick, theres only the little black cap that says "for dealer use only". i work in an oil shop so i can fill my transmission up for free its just a matter of knowing exactly how much there should be in it. any idea? i dont want to take it to a dodge dealer for them to check the level, id rather just fill it myself. just concerned of overfilling it of course. any info helps :)
The transmission oil is usually checked by the dealer using a computer with the fluid level and temperature taken into consideration. You can buy a specialty dipstick (Miller No. 9336) and do this yourself. Follow the instructions included and it should be fine, although having a scan tool to check the fluid temperature helps.
@@dannylim3318 okay sounds good thanks man. i called both of my local dealers and they told me to drive it up to temp and get it between 20-30 millimetres on my dipstick so that’s what i did. i’ve already noticed less slipping, and i only put half a litre in so i guess as long as i do that every month or so i should be fine. appreciate the response :)
@@thebaerittos2930 i will eventually do that at the dealer, i just wanted a decent temporary solution. called the two local dealers and they said drive it up to operating temp and check it with my dipstick, aim for around 20-30 millimetres on the stick so that’s what i did. like i told the other guy, i already noticed less slipping and it just feels a bit smoother and that’s what matters to me. i got the car about a month ago, and found some slight transmission leaks when i took it into my shop so i just wanted to make sure it was good, especially cus the previous owner probably didn’t check it over the past year lolll
Very very common problem on the NAG1 trans. They actually had a recall on it back in the day. It is the seal on the bottom on the trans that is leaking.
The 5.7 hemi and eventually srt 6.4 is going away but the ram 2500-5500 6.4 hemi is staying for fleet applications. Also my experience as a dodge tech, just putting converters back on might give you the desired exhaust level.
I am an original owner of an 06 go mango Daytona with 140,000 on the clock. And it is still pretty cherry! So there are some nice ones still out there... The car itself has been very reliable over the years. When I first bought it the gas tank had a recall which caused the car to stall when you topped off the tank. That was a pisser! The only other thing to fail wad the radiator recently went bust. That's it though a very decent and fairly easy to work on car!
I love my 2005 Magnum Wagon, it’s the same car underneath. Don’t know what I’ll ever replace it with when the day comes. Over 150,000 miles on it and it’s been solid and reliable.
Over the years of watching the Wizard's videos, I've noticed his magical skills progressively develop to even higher levels - he used to tug on a wheel quite hard to ascertain the states of bearings & bushes... I go to all the car showes here in Tennessee and Florida and I have over 40 trophies with a car show this weekend. Thanks for showing yours.
You're one heck of an owner if all that is true. Pretty remarkable. Congrats!
Idk what it is about daytonsa but all the ones ive seen forsale are all high miles
That's awesome! I'm #3874 of the 2006 Top Banana's. Owned since new. Only 45,000 miles on mine.
I own #3874 with the same RAK radio and other option packages. Love my car.

I've tore down a few of those 5.7 hemi's lately and I like how they are set up. not too many sensors and simple wiring also. I may have to get me one as well!
Not a bad way to spend your extra time since you have the talent.
The older ones are because their cast iron blocks my 5.7 is a '14 Rt with 375 hp but an aluminum block and the dreaded vvt.
These aren't bad. The 05-08s, I'd just replace the valve springs with those from the 6.1, which are of a different material but work on 5.7s. And of course, disable MDS.

"When you drive this car you're driving freedom down the road, lemme tell ya. 'Murica!" I always love this, because the Charger (along with the Challenger and 300) has only ever been manufactured in Canada exclusively, and the Hemi V8 engines are manufactured in Mexico.

If you had to get a Daytona with mods, this is the one to get. Those goofballs removed the cats and the mufflers but left the resonator. After living the Dukes of Hazzard dream, they thought the engine was roached and sold it. Looks like the Wizard scored a win!
Actually, they left the stock suitcase muffler in the middle and deleted the resonators near the exhaust tips.
No dude those r the mufflers that "suitcase" thing is the resonator@@JW-ke9ed

Over the last few months I've even been thinking about contacting you, and setting up an appointment sometime this summer, if you would be willing to look at the tie rods on mine, and perform an alignment. Could be a pretty good opportunity to see a very good condition example.
Wizard doesn't have an alignment rack.

Instead of replacing the missing side moldings I would remove the ones on the rear doors, give it a cleaner look.
did the same on my Trailblazer.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I used to like the side moldings, but now I favor the cleaner look without them.
This is a SCORE! A Home-Run! A Buzzer-Beater Slam Dunk! So happy to see you taking care of it now.
Hope it's not a slum dunk...more a slam dunk!

I'm shocked he bought a charger. They're actually really good! I had a 2013 charger police package with the hemi and 186k miles. Great running car. They last a long time. $3k is a nice deal on that. It looks clean.
I have a 2012 police package for 2 yrs bout to be, got it at 95k miles for 5K now it’s at 110k miles.
@@YoungAmzn it's a baby still! Just breaking it in. Great price. I like that body style the best. The gen 2 from 2011-2014.
That would destroy the originality that the Wizard aims for.....
@@JohnSmith-yv6eq Not really. Two door strips are already missing and vinyl stripes can be removed easier than fitting. Painting wheels black to even up the look of the car can also be reversed when/if "originality" ever matters to this apollo-mileage car.
Yes, really. 🤣 Now thank John Smith for your free education
You heard it here. Some vinyl decals would "destroy originality," apparently.
Then it'll be a REAL Daytona! lol
Also, Hoovie's a really bad influence on you, you're slowly getting a fleet of cars that can rival his! lol
It's actually a cool car.
So when did the Wizard turn into Hoovie? I'll really freak if Tyler starts turning wrenchs!
Let's hope not. Thats a skill that he doesn't have.
From what I understand, before meeting the Wizard, Hoovie did fix certains of his cars. So, I think he can do it, but he rather not do if he has to.
That yuppie can't turn a wrench get the hell out of here
@@chassegallerie2910 Yes, he's stated before that he knows quite a bit about his old mercedes' (not sure which one). Also, when he swapped his porsche for the first time, he did help Wizard somewhat. It's just a lot easier to have Wizard fix his cars for him, and he can come across as an idiot on camera.
That will never happen. Hoovie's losses have taught the Wizard what to stay away from.
What a great buy Wizard. You need to give Tyler some lessons on buying interesting Hoopties. This is more intetersting than his supercars

"Tiny" was already taken. :o)

These are the First Daytona's to wear a badge listing the number it was produced out of total production numbers.

They're about to kill the Hemi. The Hemi and the new inline six engine will still be in production till 2023 at least.

Seriously? 😅 That's one of the craziest car mods(?) I've heard in quite awhile.
@@kimosabbe50 it works, makes the car WAY louder

The Wizard is not concerned about the price because he knows he’ll get that back with Hoovies next visit 😂. It’s hard to believe that a Dodge product has actually made it to 250k miles. It belongs in a museum.
If it doesn’t have a Cummins in it then it should have died a long time back
I see these things with pretty high mileage for sale alot on FB Marketplace.

A specific dealer dipstick measuring in mm and measuring the transmission temp then charting it using a graph are how we check it at my shop

When I first bought it the gas tank had a recall which caused the car to stall when you topped off the tank. That was a pisser!
The only other thing to fail wad the radiator recently went bust.
