The car is a 1907 or 08 Lanchester, an English make. The AA badge clearly visible on it is from the Automobile Association, organized in England in 1907.
Love this, it would have had music with it back in the day played live in the cinema on an organ right? We would love to see young up and coming composers tackle some of these mini masterpieces and see this with some music, nice to stumble o this treasure trove today "Good dog!"
A group I perform with (Surrey Brass) has had some fantastic music written for this film and for others of the time. We did a concert in Walton with the films being shown and us playing live. Hoping to repeat it again soon.
What a great film - 1905, 107 years ago, (3 years after Hibernian last won the Scottish Cup - not relevant here, but highly amusing if you come from Edinburgh and support Hearts). Cars had only just been around for a few years. Love the trick driving - if you look around 6:02, you might see a hand coming up from the pasenger footwell - but camera angles chosen really well. I love these early films.
What a delightful little film! I'd really love to know where this was filmed and if any of the street scenes are still recognisable today - it would be great to see what they look like today on Google Street View!
And the shot at 3:24 in the film was taken from outside 26, Chertsey Road, Shepperton. You have to turn the Streetview image around to look toward the church and you can see that almost nothing has changed apart from some 1970s windows on the closer houses.
Blair has the same corkscrew motion with his tail as my Bingo has! When he's just loping around the tails swirls around in a circle and looks like a wind up tail! Bingo is an ancient Scotch Collie lineage and is spitting image of Blair
Not much of a plot, but hey it is not everyday you see a dog driving a car. Barbara Hepworth, the child, actually lived until 1997. & was around most of the 20th century.

An extremely memorable little film.
I loved it....
Amazing that this film has survived. A gentle moment in England before the catastrophe of The Great War in 1914.
My Grandmother was born in 1906, this film made me imagine that was her and what things looked like for her.
Lots of charm in this film, as in the previous Hepworth one i saw. Thanks for uploading!

I want a dog like that. Then he can drive me to work. ;)
That was great! Too bad the dog didn't thrash the kidnapper before driving the car back. Amazingly well trained dog. Enjoyed the video!
The car is a 1905 Riley 9hp with a V-twin engine: it was the first Riley to be manufactured commercially.
Most of Hepworth's filmes were filmed in and around Walton-on-Thames but I can't recognize the locations
This was filmed between Shepperton and Walton-On-Thames

Love this, 1908, respect!
Good dog!
cute
super dog, small child.good film.
Hey, wait a second...dogs can't drive cars!
Looks like an English Shepherd, so it's smart enough to drive a car - even if it can't reach the pedals!
"There's nothing in the rules that says a dog can't drive a car!"
Lassie can do anything!
Muy lindo el perrito valiente e inteligente
Someone should take a ford model T and modify it and make it play base and drive the streets with heavy bass in a ford model T
Que lindo el perro de chofer y además héroe ya que salvo al niño.
Who knows what model of car?
Dogs just don't drive as much these days.
Where is this filmed?
